    I just ordered a copy of the pattern! I have a bundle of fat quarters that will be perfect. You explain everything so good. Love you for making sure we know how to lay fabric and get that elusive quarter inch stitch. Thank you.

    Bless your heart. I bought this pattern probably back when Atkinson Designs did the revised in 2014 and it has stayed in the plastic bag it was shipped in. I opened it once and said, "Wow, this is not going to be as easy as I thought."
    So you have indeed blessed me today in making sense of this brick road. Thank you.

    Thank you so much for taking the time to carefully explain this quilt. I have sewn for 50 years but just started quilting. I don’t want to take a class because everyone assumes that if you have sewn this long you should know all these steps but clothes and quilts are very different. It is also helpful because I see we have the exact same setup with machines. So any other tips you have will be so much appreciated. Anything about tips for the machine specifically for quilting I would love to hear. Thanks again. I will keep watching you. Leah

      Thank you so much for watching the video. Hope you have subscribed so you can get notifications when I have a new video. I cannot machine quilt except for straight lines. That’s why I love to hand quilt. You always like to do something that you are good at. I so understand what you are saying about taking a class. That’s exactly why I started my channel. My goal is to teach every thing you might like to learn at your own leisure. I have 4 other quilt videos that are easy and fun to do. Thanks again!!!

    Thank you so much for doing this video! The pace you are teaching is fantastic!!! I started just reading the pattern, and then I couldn't figure it out so then I started trying to figure dimensions out by drawing on graph paper and got even more confused. It made it so much easier to watch you make this pattern! I'm so looking forward to watching your next video on this pattern. Once I get two other quilting projects completed, I'll be set to go and will feel really confident in making my "Yellow Brick Road" quilts. Thanks again! Roxy in Hudson, WI

    Thank you for doing this series! Your gentle teaching method is wonderful. Good tips for new and experienced sewers. I like the reminder to check for quarter inch seams. Using that walking foot helps keep those long strips from getting stretched or distorted. Wonderful job👍

    The reason you are not getting your ¼" seam allowance is that you have your walking foot on, put just your quarter inch foot on and you should do better.

    • @NikkelandDimeDecor
      @NikkelandDimeDecor  Рік тому

      Toni I guess I haven’t thought about but to answer your question. The color picture on then front of the pattern shows 3 basic colors but many many ( I counted 10 different fabrics ). There is probably more. So I would say 3 main colors but as many varieties of fabrics as you like. Thank You for watching.

    • @NikkelandDimeDecor
      @NikkelandDimeDecor  Рік тому

      The pattern calls for 6 fat quarters for the baby quilt so I really don’t know how they got so many different fabrics. That is a very interesting problem !!!

    My mom started this quilt for my first grandchild (her first great grandchild). She recently had a stroke and is currently working to overcome the effects. She will not be able to finish this quilt and she has done some of the steps out of order. I sew but have never made a quilt. My 18 year old daughter made a different quilt pattern with my mom when she was about 11 years old. My mom is not in a place to be able to answer questions. My daughter and I are watching your video and between the two of us we are going to try to finish sewing together the pieces. IF we succeed I will take it to be machine quilted. I am wondering if there is a way we could communicate if we get stuck. We think this would be an amazing surprise for the mother of the baby and my mom (Nana). My mom's BIG goal is to be able to attend the shower. If we can pull this off it would be very special for all 3 generations - Great Nana - 1st time Mimi and 1st time Auntie. I would welcome any advice or help. THANKS

If you watch over and over, I think you will be fine. And tell your daughter I am proud of her for helping you!! God’s blessings to you. Jacklyn

      There 6 or 7 videos on this one quilt. It will take you from cutting to the final steps. I picked up this pattern at my very first and only quilting class 11 years ago. Missouri Star Quilting Co. should have the pattern for you. But honestly I think if you watch the videos, you won’t need the pattern. God Bless!

    Why are we not pressing our seams open? why to the center? just wondering because I have always heard to press seams open on quilting.

    • @NikkelandDimeDecor
      @NikkelandDimeDecor  3 роки тому +1

      I think it really is a matter of preference. In my watching Eleanor Burns on Quilt in a Day on Saturday mornings, she advices you to nest your seams together for some blocks by pressing one way on one row and pressing the other way on the adjoining row. They meld together for a perfect fit that cant be achieved with pressed open seams. Thank you for your question.

      Linda, I’m sorry you are having trouble. The directions say (1) 6 1/2 and (3) 3 1/2 strips from each fat quarter or 21 x 18 “ fabric.

  • @donnarichey144
    @donnarichey144 2 роки тому

    How many of the 6 1/2 pieces? 18?

    • @NikkelandDimeDecor
      @NikkelandDimeDecor  2 роки тому

      Don’t know exactly where you are on the pattern but at first you take each fat quarter 21” and cut ( 1) 6 1/2 and ( 3) 3 1/2 . You will end up with 6 (6 1/2) 21’ strips and 18 (3 1/2) x 21” strips.Sorry if I’m not answering you correctly because I’m not sure where you are.
