Wow it's interesting to 'hear' a guy's perspective..and refreshing to see that there are still some who think a bit deeper..I have found myself in this kind of situation years ago, in high school and it took me a while to realize how silly I'd been and what a great person I'd lost..I suffered terribly and regretted my actions, but one only learns from mistakes and through life experience and I wouldn't be the person I am today without the past experiences.

A lot of people are writing some pretty angry interpretations of the lyrics in this song, which are still valid, but I thought I'd share mine. As a woman, this song to me is about being happy with a great guy, but always feeling remorse that he wasn't the one you thought would be your happily ever after. Just like how often our lives turn out not at all the way we planned them. It's that remorse for what we dreamed of, even while we have something just as good or even better. It doesn't mean that you appreciate the good things you have any less.
