Mr Sausage Fest, Would you be the same person that did a show in New Orleans and sang beautiful blues. If so, just want to say how enjoyable you were. Thank you from Ms Lou here in Louisiana
It's not fair. How can anyone be this nice, this talented and drop dead gorgeous. On top of that has never made an idiot of herself, stumbling out of clubs, getting arrested, etc, like so many other "stars"
So talented, so beautiful, so knowledgeable as well. She has proved again and again that she is the real deal. She performs and records with other great musicians (Marsalis, Jim Campilongo, Bob Dylan). She's just great. Eventually, people will recognize what an absolute gem she is.
40 years ago This girl's father gave some lectures as a visiting artist at our university. I learned a lot form his lectures and attended his concerts. RIP Ravi Shankar.
wynton is the man who is keeping the jazz flame burning all around the world.the man is like a prophet in jazz music working very hard to keep the jazz alive more power to him my hat off for you SIR WYNTON MARSALIS
"Someone, somewhere, is tired of her fussing." Forgetting that the alternative is to be tired of the fussing of a woman who isn't beautiful, sensual, elegant and a lovely, great voice.
What a nice version of Ray Charles's classic, it's so sad these days when "wrecking ball" get's 10 million view yet not enough young people know the real beauty of music like this, how sad indeed..
Yea, true, Ray's had a "longing" element and his soulful voice will never be duplicated. A lot of people have covered this song and with good reason, it's a gem.
You are so right -- how can anyone even think of comparing such a beautiful old song, beautifully presented by all above, to the blaring, bang-with-a-beat noise that they call "music" today!! Sheer insanity! This is the stuff dreams were made of and should still be today! Even if it's unrequited love as this song tells. I remember hearing Ray Charles sing this way back around 1957 or so, about the same time I was also taken aback by "Georgia" by Ray also. Then I fell in love with Sinatra's music, Ella, Peggy Lee, Perry Como, Mat Monro, and a few more. But those early years affected the rest of my life when I became a performer also and sang this song at my own piano-bar with a trio! Great memories.
It isn't sad at all. When I was a teen I would NEVER have listened to anything like this. I was into what was hot at the time on the radio. Much later I relaxed enough to appreciate this. We were the same way.
Now this is a class on how to phrase effortlessly bringing layers/textures unknown to all. Norah completely brings out the best in ANYONE she plays with. I never would have thought that Mr. Marsalis & Company could ever sound better. Oh, THAT ARRANGEMENT? PARAMOUNT IN PERFECTION which I always thought to be perception. Nope! Everything about this performance is just that... Perfect. Thank you Ms. Jones for gracing us with what I feel to be the epitome of everything beautiful and full of 'class' 🍀
This song is one of my old times favorite. I love the way she sings it. She has the right voice. Thinking of love I had who left me. I was blind sided. Hmmm I hope it's okay to share that out there.
Instantly one of my new favorites. The voice is so smooth and refreshing. The band is so outstanding. All those great playing together is truly music. Love this!
First Time I have heard this and I have to say like Everything Else she sings , It's Brilliant . Well done with so much much CLASS . Not everyone can do this. She has a Million Dollar Band too . Save Me a Dance Norah.
This is a beautiful rendition of this song! Norah does an amazing job covering it, and the musicians - with Wynton Marsalis - are par excellent! Thanks for sharing! :)
Now this is a treat. I think that Mr. Charles would be quite pleased with this arrangement. These are 2 of my favorite people. My most sincerest thanks to the ones that are responsible for placing this on You Tube.👍😁👍😁👍😁
A great pleasure to listen to her unique voice and very personal artistry in her phrasing --- an original -- a true singer who puts her stamp on whatever she sings. She sings her way, doesn't imitate. Rare and wonderful!
WAS LOOKING FOR A RAY CHARLES VERSION OF "YOU DON'T KNOW ME" AND CAME UP WITH THIS LOVELY VERSION OF THIS SONG, SUNG BY NORA JONES...NEVER HEARD OF HER BUT WAS ABSOLUTELY BLOWN BY HER LOVELY VOICE AND SHOWMANSHIP...WILL NOW LISTEN TO HER OTHER SONGS & GET AQUAINTED WITH HER STYLE...ellie in west palm beach fl.
Hands Down, this is the most beautiful performance I have ever heard of this song! Norah's sultry emotional voice, reaches in and pulls at the strings of my Heart! It makes me sing along.. and I am not a good singer, but it feels so good to sing along with her!... silly me.
I want to say everyone says Norah jones is fabulous and that’s true but wynton Marsalis is one of the best trumpetists in classical and jazz music and he deserves the attention as well
there is no greater theatre of human exercise that will approach the will to show talent. music comes from so many deep areas of human experience. the composer listens to music as an infant, child and adult and from that mix comes a rewrite of what he has absorbed. then musicians play what they have dedicated their lives to. then the singer comes along and blends in to make something so new, so touching it grabs you in your soul. the greatest exploit of mankind...music !
What more musically could be more satisfying then a small group, piano, drums, bass and singer that makes me wish for Christmas early. First view of Norah Jones. Lovely and the voice to match.. I'm in love..
She sounds exactly the same live! This started playing when I had a different tab open and I didn't even realize this was not pre-recorded. What a soulful woman.
A few observations: (1) Norah Jones. Wow. (2) Harmonica? Yes, it's still a killer instrument. (3) Ray Charles is still casting a huge and magnificent shadow over all pop music.
She could sing the phone book and sell out the house as far as I'm concerned. Like cream, this kind of talent just rises to the top. Beautiful talent, beautiful spirit.
@@dgs1933 He's amazing. He has that instantaneously recognizable sound. He plays regularly with Willie, but he has played with everyone!! They all recognize the talent.
For those of you who say she is lacking emotion, I say let 20 or 30 years go by and then have her sing this song. Life has a way of adding texture over time with loss and suffering. Ray was no young man when he sang this song. Bravo Norah.
+morgaffi well I grew up with my mom's collection of old jazz artists and she had a lot of norah Jones albums and I listened to them all the time and I never even knew... but you are right

Wynton Marsalis and Norah Jones play off each other perfectly to make a full concert hall feel like a cozy jazz club.
Norah Jones is like the best wines. She just gets better as she gets older & matures. An amazing talent.
she sounds like jelly beans taste.
Thank you Norah Jones for keeping this kind of music alive. It is much needed and I do hope you inspire many others to do so as well.
and thanks to you for your music as well!
Norah Jones is the BEST
Mr Sausage Fest, Would you be the same person that did a show in New Orleans and sang beautiful blues. If so, just want to say how enjoyable you were. Thank you from Ms Lou here in Louisiana
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes.love it!!!
she can stand in one spot and sing the essence of the song with no fireworks and drama. proves she has talent.
I see lots of fireworks
👏👍❤️🎉
Beats "today's" pop music all to heck. I have a Pandora "channel" based on Diana Krall and Norah Jones comes up frequently. She is a great chanteuse.
Always a treat to hear Norah sing it.
It's not fair. How can anyone be this nice, this talented and drop dead gorgeous. On top of that has never made an idiot of herself, stumbling out of clubs, getting arrested, etc, like so many other "stars"
good call, soooo talented and so beautiful
And versatile enough to have sung with about a hundred other great musicians. Just crazy.

And I mean this in the right way...... The sexiest woman in the music biz.....
She's the very definition of a class act.
Norah Jones so much class so much talent and so much soul
You left out "and oh so easy on the eyes".
Saw her when she first started out with Stevie Nicks in NC. Awesome! Better than Stevie....sorry! 😀

One of the most beautiful voices in jazz, one of the most outstanding bands, a beautiful cover, nice arrengement, great lyrics. Marvelous.
How can over 300 people NOT love this version? Perfect.
I listen to this one about 20 times a week since I first found it a few months ago. Really. I find it real difficult to get sick of perfection.
I just happened across it and I love it.

she has what it takes to become a true legend in the jazz world- the looks for it, the dress, the voice, and the feeling.
What a perfect woman. She's beautiful, sensual, elegant, just lovely, great voice..
Couldn't agree more. Every adjective you used to describe her is spot on.

What a nice version of Ray Charles's classic, it's so sad these days when "wrecking ball" get's 10 million view yet not enough young people know the real beauty of music like this, how sad indeed..

Great talent speaks for itself. Norah Jones doesn't need a gimmick she's the real thing.
Her voice is pure magic.
Norah's unique talent is her ability to make the listener feel the song. Oh, what a voice. ❤❤❤

Ray kills it, just as he does with 50 other songs !!
Beautiful and Bluesy. Absolutely lovely. Thank you for putting it up.
Such a beautiful rendition of this song!
Yes Norah, we know you all too well. Simply Beautiful in every way! I could listen to you 24/7.
I love this song! AND it is very very well done here!!!!
Sweet and soft with lovely words . I love the Saxaphone, Harmonica. and bass piano accompaniment.

Wow, this whole performance was intoxicating, the music is gorgeous, very beautiful!🥰🎸😎♥️

It IS a beautiful version, but the Ray Charles version is the definitive version.

How could the daughter of Ravi Shankar's be anything but great! And what a great combination ~ Wynton Marsalis band with Norah Jones.
