eSk8 remote with realtime VESC data

- The remote now shows real-time data from the VESC, however at a very slow rate. Going to change that. In addition, I have added a way to change the settings, such as wheel diameter, gear ratio etc. Going to add a small button for settings, instead of using throttle wheel - otherwise, it would not be possible to use the trigger for f.x. cruise control.

Beautiful piece of work!
Really cool remote! Good job :)
Good job man! Keep it up! I follow your project with interest!
Thanks man, I am glad you like it!
Dude awesome work!
Really nice work!
But why does the board only can drive 5kmh?
Soooo cool!!! Would totally buy one!!!
Thanks man! I really appreciate all the nice feedback :-)!
Are you selling any of these and does it display in MPH instead of KMPH?
Hey was wondering if this remote could be used with something like the meepo board that uses just regular escs and not a vsec
professional job!
looks so good! keep the good work :)
Thanks! I will :-)
PLEASE TELL ME IF THIS REMOTE IS WATER RESISTANT OR PROOF ???
SECOND QUESTION IS A HARD ONE FOR YOU - PLEASE TELL ME IF ONE REMOTE CAN CONTROL 4 DIFFERENT RECEIVERS ??? BIG THANK YOU AND BIG GIANT KISS !!!
Amazing job m8, do you think i could realize the project with an wroom-esp32? got a bunch of those collecting dust and i'm on a budget now so that would be great!
When I give gas, the bar under the speed gauge never goes through completely. Can I do something like stronger magnets?
So that I can drive full throttle!
Now this is solid DIY! Do you have a schematic on the forums? It's so clean!
Thanks mate! I have just uploaded a schematic on my github wiki page. Should be clear enough :-) github.com/MrSolidGeek/nRF24-Esk8-Remote
Awesome! Thanks brotha :) With the crazy growth in the esk8 scene I'm so partial to DIY. And when I see creations like this I remember why I love the DIY side so much! Keep up the vids you mad scientist, so we can see what other stuff you can conjure up.
Nice work, only think you shoud put the oled in a place you can see it when holding the remote
Working on a better version with OLED in a better place :)
Can you explain how do you get the live data from the vesc? I would appreciate
Uart TX and RX
How's the latency?
Hi i have built your transmitter according to the schematics I just can't find any code to install on it at least one that works any code that I run from your github when I attempt to verify it it tells me that there are errors with the code
How do I get the Nano for the receiver powered?
Vin pin takes 8V and I only have 5V from UART
5V. This pin outputs a regulated 5V from the regulator on the board. The board can be supplied with power either from the DC power jack (7 - 12V), the USB connector (5V), or the VIN pin of the board (7-12V). Supplying voltage via the 5V or 3.3V pins bypasses the regulator, and can damage your board. We don't advise it
Sadly it seems you've not completed the documentation :(
I am missing tge connection of the receiver.
I suppose it's TX and RX from UART to the Nano, and PPM signal to the Nano.
How is the Nano supposed to be fed with 5v?
Could you please add a little diagram at least? :(
So little is missing for a full documentation!
It's just the receiver I'm stuck with
Hey. I have a skateboard Archos SK8, but I lost the remote control. The board in the skateboard is the Reintech RT 60D with nrf24l01 on the board. Can you help me to connect with her through arduino and nrf? Regards
Probably not, unless you do a lot og tweaking yourself. What ESC does the board use?
Hi, i have one question, i cant find new 3d print documents. When i download ur documents i have just 3 holes for 3 screws. On the video i see 6holes and 6 screws, where is the problem? Thansk for answer. :)
That is correct, the one shown in this video is an old model, the new only has three holes. I made the modification to make it easier to assemble, and it turns out it does not make any difference :-)
do you have to sell a remote control maybe?
I will be making some batches of these this summer. You can keep in contact with me if you would like one. I would greatly appreciate your interest in buying one from me. I'm currently finishing my junior year in mechanical engineering school and plan to produce many of these once I'm done with this semester.
It is awesome! Can you make a tutorial please?
Thanks, and yes sure :-)! I hope to be finished with a tutorial and all the source code in the beginning of September!
The turtorial is half finish on my github wiki page, with schematic and some descriptions. github.com/MrSolidGeek/nRF24-Esk8-Remote/wiki
I have to subscribe when you start talking about open source software in the remote. Will this be compatible with major brands? I'm looking at you, Evolve
Well I dont know if the evolve boards use VESC? Probably not, however if they do well it should be compatible.
What does VESC stand for? What is it? I can't find any information on it without knowing what it stands for.
It is a special type of speed controller. Vedders Electric speed controller = Vesc. The Guy who made it his name is Benjamin Vedder :-)
Thank you! This is awesome
How can I order one
I am making batches of these come June, July, and August. You can keep in contact with me to ensure you get your hands on one if you are still interested.
yo i really badly need nRF24-Esk8-Remote-master.zip libary anychance to obtain?? or ima waste all my efford...
It is free to download in github 👍
Are they for sale now?
I am sorry they are not any longer. I am working on new projects and dont have time to build any more remotes 🙂
@@MrSolidGeek have fun! Thanks for the quick response!
the realtime data dont work :(
Dude. Please speak. How did you integrate the receiver and vesc. Love to hear the whole story too.
This video was never really meant to explain anything, just showcase the features. However the receiver speaks to the VESC over UART (RX/TX) and sends back the telemetry with the nRF24 modul. Quite simple actually 🙂 The remote has changed a lot since then and many people have made their own unique versions. Seach Firefly Remote on esk8.builders if you are interested in the project!
take my money now . sell me one as soon as it is possible
Steven McDougall me too
