In the end it boils down to this…as always…if you have ANY concerns about your baby specifically always seek medical attention for them! This video is for informational purposes and so…it should not replace the advice of your most responsible health care provider ❤
I remember when this happened, I googled, found out it was common and my husband wanted me to still go ahead and ask the pediatrician. Google was right, it was no big deal
My 3 month old baby would go 11 days without a poop and then let out a big one. One time, my childless brother was holding her on the couch and she let one of these huge 11 day poops rip out of no where. Poor man fumbled/dropped/threw her onto the cushion in surprise and then was mortified he had done that. She was fine. I still laugh about it
Apparently my dad had to massage me as a small baby because I refused to poo unless I was calm. It's not as hilarious as my parents still think it is at 30 😂
The constipation part took me back. My kid was constipated and I googled what to do, but man, I got rid of my long nails after just in case there were future issues. Rubbing his *** to get him to poop is a whole other level of bonding I wasnt aware I signed up for. I added too much oatmeal flake to his bottle and his digestive system was not pleased 😅
I wish I saw your channel a year ago. You have a lot of insightful information that is very helpful for new parents, or even parents who never had the experience. Thank you ❤️
...mine had serious constipation issues for over 3 years. His pediatrician the first 2 years just shrugged and said its nothing. It happens to some babies. We fought tooth and nail to get tests done, that said nothing was wrong, which made her care even less when we brought it up. We moved, we changed pediatricians and the new one was like, no its normal to struggle this long. But youve tried all the remedies i normally suggest so i dont have anything new to add. It was so frustrating. It sorted itself out around 3.5 years old. The entire experience was a nightmare
"When a baby is breastfeed they start pooping even less" My daughter: "I'm going to ruin this woman's career" *starts pooping before and after feeding* Even my midwife was shocked with the amount of times my daughter was pooping 😭😂
Mine as well! Or at least she would erm I think the term is shart... A lot. Only got better when she started eating solid food at 6 months old 😅 now we're down to one poop a day on average.
Mine was exclusively breast fed and has always pooped at least 3 times a day. When she was 6 months and under it was like 6-8 times a day. She rarely if ever skipped a day! Our doctor said it was normal.
I was told to use the thermometer to help get them to pass a stool that is hard, that and putting their legs up towards their stomach, to help them relax and get going.
My son poops every other day (he's 9 months and he eats solids, breast milk and formula). But man his first 24 hours of life he pooped 4 times. I give him a probiotic in his milk or food if it's been a while and hes trying to strain. Also when he was a newborn if he was on his back pooping wasn't as comfortable. We would have to stand him up and immediately he'd let out the biggest poop.
No one told me that breastfed babies poop less. I definitely called my midwife like…. ?? What’s going on I took so many classes but just now hearing this 4 years later lol
Don't let anyone tell you they're an expert just cause they have a lot of kids. My 4th is 2 months and this is news to me. I knew babies didn't necessarily poop often, but a couple weeks ago, we were concerned that he wasn't pooping much. Thanks for the info!
My kid was onced constipated so bad, that I had to help, so I was picking out what was poking form the backdoor 😐 it was stressful, but sigh of relief on kids face was worth it
My friend has a baby, and after a few days of no poop, the doctors discovered her colon wasn't attached properly and she needed immediate surgery. It was their first baby, too. I wonder if they had know about the reflex, if they could have known quicker. Their daughter is a tween now.
My baby went from nor al every few days of pooping to blowouts immediately with formula. Turns out she needed sensitive formula. I avoid dairy and did my entire pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding too. So her body was not used to it.
My UBF babies always continue to poop multiple times a day but they are all big eaters. They are still (up to age 9) and that’s just how our family is. They are also all super tall.
My nephew was so constipated as a baby and toddler to the point that he would poop balls as big as an 8 ball and would stretch iut his colon. We would cry with him bc of how badly he would be hurting. We didnt know what to do. We gave him fiber friendly things and nothing worked. He eventually did get better but thru age not bc of what we gave him. I still feel bad bc seeing a baby in that pain sucks
I thought my 2 weeks old just a little bit constipated but took him to the hospital to get it checked out to be in the safe side. We lost him to appendicitis, not pooping was the first sign something was wrong.
Seeing this 2.5 years after having my baby and would like for this to be a regular conversation doctors have cause I didn’t know this and was at the dr every week bawling my eyes out cause my baby “constipated” 🤩
I have a 6 week old and about a week or so ago, he went 3 days without pooping (he is breast milk bottle fed) sometimes he seems like he’s in pain. And has terrible gas. 😢
when i was about 11-ish, my aunts 2 month old baby was constipated and after that experience, i was traumatized. they put a thermomiter (sterilized) up there.
My daughter was constipated from year one to year two. It took a solid year for them to give her a laxative. She would SCREAM.. like someone was hurting her.
When my 4 were babies, that poops weren't the problem, the gas was. No one told me that what I ate that is gassy makes my breast milk gassy for them. And certain formulas (gerber I'm looking at you) make those cute little farts smell like death.
So Im pregnant with #4 in 5 years, and all 3 of my babies pooped every 1-2 days. If they went over 3, they would be upset. All have been exclusively BF and I always have an oversupply and good creammy milk that makes butterball babies. Ive always heard that BF babies poop every 5-10 days, but its never been the cases for our kiddos
Not a baby, but I read this book where the guy was obsessed with perfection so much that he calculated his food intake so that there was no leftover to poop😅
It doesn’t work that way. Even a person with no oral intake at all, on TPN (total parenteral nutrition) = IV with only the fluids and crucial nutrients will continue to poop some. Your body processes make waste products that need to be removed. Even some of the broken down bits of old red blood cells end up in our poo. And even if you eat only very nutrient dense foods and could possibly calculate it right to eat just exactly enough… all foods contain some unindigestible/ unusable parts.
My baby #2 was one of those poop-every-10-days babies, which was awesome days 1 thru 9. I had to plan to not leave the house on day 10 😂! Once, it was day 10 and I had her dressed in this yellow fleece sleeper that had cute little cuffs and of course, enclosed feet. Well, cue the poop. She pooped and pooped, and I was nervous because no diaper had been invented that contained her. But what a happy surprise when I picked her up and her diaper seemed to be intact! I carried her upstairs to change her, and to my horror, when I unzipped her sleeper, the ENTIRE INSIDE OF THE SLEEPER WAS FULL OF POOP! It was even between her toes. Only the cuffs held it in. I thew out the sleeper
Is this increased use of breastmilk maybe also related to why colic happens around this time? Our baby just started pooping less lately (8 weeks) and is much more uncomfortable and fussy :(
Good info... I am just trying to figure out why my Toddler poops four to seven times a day hard in the morning but consistently and soft by the last one of the day or evening. My pediatrician says it is fine but i feel like it's alot . Im glad he is pooping. He never did less than ywice a Day his whole little life
I have a 2 weeks old lying next to me right now 😅he's already down to one dirty diaper a day. I'm quite worried to be honest, but my midwife isn't concerned🤷🏼♀️
My both sons were breastfed exclusively for 7 months, haf notmal poops once or twice a day. I don't think that pooping once a week is normal for any baby bc they allso have a shorter intestines than a fully grown human. Was this a misprint in the scenario or was I not aware of a true fact here?
The thing about those breast milk poos though - when they don’t poop for days and then suddenly let it all go in Costco it’s actually pretty impressive. 😂 EVERYONE knows. The poosplosion is EPIC. Are you even a parent if you haven’t left a trail behind you as you run for the bathroom (either to clean up vomit or to change a diaper)????
Breast milk is tailored to be what baby needs and not much else, more easily absorbed and digested. Formula isn’t as precise of a formula. That’s all ♥️
Nah, my breastfed baby always pooped at least 4 times a day every day. Now that he's no longer a baby or breastfed he still poops at least twice a day every day. Consistency is key.
Hehe, my babies were ones of those "I poop once a week" :D. We were practising the Elimination communication, which ment only a very few diapers. I wish all new moms knew the facts you are talking about in your videos. Our mommy lifes would be much much easier :D.
My newborn couldn't poop on his own for the first couple of weeks. And his tummy would hurt and he'd scream and our pediatrician would tell uz it was normal. No. It was not-he was miserable. We had to help him poop.
Or it means they have a tongue tie and not getting enough milk. My baby went from pooping once a week to pooping like 6 times a day at 9 weeks when her tie was finally fixed
I’m not having anymore kids, that right was stolen from me. But you seem like such an amazing doctor. I had the best, Dr. Martindale. You remind me of her so much. You give amazing information to make it less scary. I have a compacted spine and epidural was best for me. Second doctor didn’t listen but that’s a different story for a different day. She was just a God send. You seem amazing. You’re helping so many mommas and mommas to be here. I wish we had the internet and support like this when I had my babies. 🩵
Baby 1 pooped once in 7-10 days. Up to her hairline. Or right on the wall... Theres a lot of Pressure behind it 😂 baby 2 pooped daily. Sometimes twices. Cant remember any blowout on her. Both breastfeed. I hope baby 3 will be like baby 2 😂 well find out, i guess. 😂

I did bring it up with my pediatrician when I noticed my daughter was constipated and was crying and screaming from her stomach hurting her I told them I think she is constipated from the formula the pediatrician literally told me don't worry about it and it just give her Mylicon I said find discontinued they wouldn't let me switch her formula I switched her formula and all of a sudden she can poop and burp no mylicon needed.
What if a young adult 💩 every single time they ever eat anything? Even just a biscuit? But the 💩 is not too hard or runny, not painful, and the young adult is otherwise healthy?

“Ok you had a baby…”
No I didn’t, did I? 😭
Just playing btw 😊❤
😆
Poop
@@mamanursetina 😆♥️
* looks around to see if I can find the baby I “just had”*
"When they get REALLY old... around 6 weeks" made me lol 😂 so relatable if your a first time mom
I remember when this happened, I googled, found out it was common and my husband wanted me to still go ahead and ask the pediatrician. Google was right, it was no big deal
This made me feel REALLY old at 22 years 😂
My husband is almost 50 and still has that reflex 😂
Hahahaha 😂😂
😂😂😂
oml😂😂😂
I had my Gallbladder removed a year ago and this is now my life 😭
My 3 month old baby would go 11 days without a poop and then let out a big one. 11 days and you didn't consult a doctor. What the hell is wrong with you that's not funny.
Such a good reminder! Baby is 8 weeks and we’ve gone from 4ish poops daily down to 1 a day! What a nice gift for diaper changes 😂
Right?? Like praise 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I'm so jealous. My son pooped 4 times a day until he was 18 months old. He's 2.5 years old and still poops at least twice a day. It's crazy.
Apparently my dad had to massage me as a small baby because I refused to poo unless I was calm. It's not as hilarious as my parents still think it is at 30 😂
My baby is 8 weeks, breast fed, and pooped four times yesterday 😂
Two weeks ago she was going four days between poops. It’s a wild ride.
Ok this makes me feel better
The constipation part took me back. My kid was constipated and I googled what to do, but man, I got rid of my long nails after just in case there were future issues. Rubbing his *** to get him to poop is a whole other level of bonding I wasnt aware I signed up for. I added too much oatmeal flake to his bottle and his digestive system was not pleased 😅
Poor little pumpkin!! That’s stressful for you too
I wish I saw your channel a year ago. You have a lot of insightful information that is very helpful for new parents, or even parents who never had the experience. Thank you ❤️
Love your videos. When I was pregnant with my first baby, I watched them all. Im expecting again and watching through them all again
This makes me really really happy!! Thank you

True..breastmilk only with two of my babies and I kept notes on poos-- only once every 7 days sometimes 8--

I tried bringing up that my newborn (around 6 weeks) was screaming, red faced, straining every time she tried to poop, and was completely dismissed.
When I was a baby all of my Dakotas were scared b I was pooping like once mabye twice a month 😂
My nephew was so constipated as a baby and toddler to the point that he would poop balls as big as an 8 ball and would stretch iut his colon. I had the most constipated baby ever my poor guy. He lucked out and didn't need surgery at the last possible minute
I thought my 2 weeks old just a little bit constipated but took him to the hospital to get it checked out to be in the safe side. We lost him to appendicitis, not pooping was the first sign something was wrong.
💔💔💔
Sorry
My son has gone poop at least 2 times a day since birth, and he is 3 now. Some people are born blessed
My doctors always told me the opposite - that breastfed babies poops more often and are less likely to get contisipated
My daughter stayed constipated as a baby. I had to put kayro syrup in almost every bottle to help keep her moving.
when i was about 11-ish, my aunts 2 month old baby was constipated and after that experience, i was traumatized. they put a thermomiter (sterilized) up there.
Babies poop more on formula...note taken
My daughter was constipated from year one to year two. It took a solid year for them to give her a laxative. She would SCREAM.. like someone was hurting her.

What clear blue eyes 😅😂😊😊😊
how do they poop is the stomach. Like where does it come out from PLEASE TELL ME-.
Laughs in almost 5 month old who has pooped three times this morning
Not a baby, but I read this book where the guy was obsessed with perfection so much that he calculated his food intake so that there was no leftover to poop😅

Speaking of poop. Formula poops smell different than breast milk poops. If you switch to/supplement with formula their poop will smell different.
I had a lactation consultant swear up and down that this was a dangerous myth. So I was left not knowing who or what to believe.
My baby #2 was one of those poop-every-10-days babies, which was awesome days 1 thru 9. I had to plan to not leave the house on day 10 😂!

What causes formula fed babies poop so much more than breastfed babies?

Nah, my breastfed baby always pooped at least 4 times a day every day. Now that he's no longer a baby or breastfed he still poops at least twice a day every day. Consistency is key.
This is HUGE 🤯 I always assumed having a baby in the home would mean 💩 diapers several times a day. 🤮
My almost 4 month old who is exclusively breast fed still poops 1-2 times per day 😅
I’m just trying to eat my GOLDFISH when this comes up!!!!😅
UA-cam seems to think Im pregnant for some reason. It keeps giving me pregnancy themed ads and shorts. Im... mildly concerned one of my neighbors is.
Hehe, my babies were ones of those "I poop once a week" :D. We were practising the Elimination communication, which ment only a very few diapers. I wish all new moms knew the facts you are talking about in your videos. Our mommy lifes would be much much easier :D.
I'm a 23yo virgin, but I like watching your videos they're very informative and important
No seriously I don’t think I want children but this is all so interesting to me
My gastrocolic reflex is broken 😭😭😭
I'm breastfeeding, my baby is 10 weeks, but she still pooping as often. Like 5 times a day, or maybe more..
When i was a baby, i pooed every Wednesday 😅
my son was born with lazy bowel and now at 28 and still has problems but with Metamucil he is a lot more regular but still has problems
My newborn couldn't poop on his own for the first couple of weeks. And his tummy would hurt and he'd scream and our pediatrician would tell uz it was normal. No. It was not-he was miserable. We had to help him poop.
How? Please help me my 4 weeks old baby is not poop for two weeks now.
my parent say that for the first 2 months i was going through 24 DIAPERS A DAY
Or it means they have a tongue tie and not getting enough milk.
My baby went from pooping once a week to pooping like 6 times a day at 9 weeks when her tie was finally fixed
All of my kids pooped every day. They also ate constantly
I thought something was wrong 😅 She is breastfed. I was told she would poop a lot
They go a week?! I never knew this
I’m not having anymore kids, that right was stolen from me. 🩵
I wish i had known this 16 years ago. My child didnt poop for 5 days and the dr made me put a q tip with petroleum jelly on it in her bum
My son was almost 3 weeks early and unfortunately he needed help 💩 until his muscles developed
My breastfed baby had way more poops than my formula babies 🤷🏻♀️
😂I guess I never grew out of it😅
Lol what?! I breastfed all 5 of mine for a year each, they pooped a few times a day until I stopped breastfeeding. 😳
I had no idea breast fed babies poop less often 😮
So are we not talking about how breast fed babies poop smells like butter popcorn? Oh only mine did. Oh😮
💕
Interesting!
Once a week! ???😮
When u have eds sometimes this continues into adulthood.
I thought the average breast milk and formula were chemically identical? Why the difference then?
The newborn baby's gastric system is... Immature... I love that.
Once a week when breastfed!? Omg I know nothing…
Hey! Kk is my nick name. 😁.
Really old like 6 weeks 😂
Or they have gas. But the poop needs to be normal
This girl on TikTok her baby didn’t poop for a week she took him to the hospital, they sent her home and like the next day he sadly passed away.. so when should we be concerned?
This is so not true. I breastfed 3 healthy babies for a year each. They freaking pooped 2-3 times a day until we introduced solid food at 6 months.
Some do. Many don’t.
Poop sleep
I did bring it up with my pediatrician when I noticed my daughter was constipated and was crying and screaming from her stomach hurting her I told them I think she is constipated from the formula the pediatrician literally told me don't worry about it and it just give her Mylicon I said find discontinued they wouldn't let me switch her formula I switched her formula and all of a sudden she can poop and burp no mylicon needed.
What if a young adult 💩 every single time they ever eat anything? Even just a biscuit? But the 💩 is not too hard or runny, not painful, and the young adult is otherwise healthy?
For some people, that is normal.
❤
