There's a trick for these lower torque impact drivers on hard to break bolts. Put it on tighten for 3 secs then reverse it. It works about 70% of the time.
60% of the time, it works every time.
High torque woulda ripped that crank bolt outta there like a miss behaving kid in McDonald's Playland during the 60's!

Nice i got to see the limits of this tool in the wild not just a perfectly configured lab test style. Still for what it is the M18 and the M12 versions are amazing within a certain scope.
that's poor thinking on the Snap-On guys part, "I pay 0% financing," but at the end of the day you're still paying $600, doesn't matter if it is same day or three years down the road.

For crankshaft bolt you can buy weighted sockets or IR powersockets ;)
Love the gen 3 impact, especially the LED lights. So great. Not gonna upgrade till current gen 2s die on me, as they still work great. That said, if they make a gen 4 m18 fuel 2853-20 impact driver in this style, I’ll probably end up having to get it, & pass my gen 3 down to someone who needs it😉

I used the Milwaukee high impact 1,400 break away to remove one of those on a Honda CRV
and it took me at least a minute of constant power to get it off with a regular short socket.
The called crank bolts for a reason 🤣🙌🙌
The it’s truly wild and weighted sockets will work on wrenches with 40% of that but the weighted socket isn’t supposed to make THAT much of a difference so I’d love to see the math behind it because it doesn’t add up to my dumb brain

Bet you Snap-On has a bunch of those new Milwaukee Impact wrenches all taken apart already to see how they were made..
They all benefit from electric motors developed for other industries. High torque low rpm motors are a by products of the industrial robotics and CNC machines.
That's what makes those thin high torgue impact wrench and ratchets not cost as much as a space station. R@D costs are split because most was open source.
It is cool they came out with an 18V version for people who have M18 tools but not M12.

If you do this again I would recommend caliper bracket bolts for the stubby thats where that class of impact really starts to hit its wall in automotive as in should take things off but struggles one of the main reasons im looking at one for "automotive" so i dont have to use the high tq or air as much. Also yes germin axle studs are tight as hell as in go past tq and start getting into angle haha the lugs at most on the suv even is 120lb the rest are like 100lb

Not too bad for its size nice light duty impact I’d imagine m18 version gets better run time I’d like to see if it has more power with a bigger battery
Saw a video on the high torque. They took off a bolt at around 550 foot pounds, but the 3 and 5 amp battery's couldn't provide enough juice. The 8 amp took the bolt right off. Maybe with a bigger battery the mid torque would have had a chance in taking that Honda bolt off.

i had a bad experience with my milwaukeee mid torque i just bought and had to return it, have you had any problems with loose batteries? first job had to reinstall battery twice to get to the tool to work on simple tire rotation.I talked to HD and they said alot tools are coming back, as a matter of fact there was a whole bin full of just milwaukee returns i can imagine they arent gonna be too happy about that.
You need to try the new Milwaukee 2962 mid torque 1/2 drive on those cranking nuts, I’m curious if that’s gonna work on them. I was trying to get one off of a Subaru and had no luck and since I don’t have an impact I quit on it.

Man the honda crank pulley bolt is one of the toughest crank pulley bolt out there. Its a toss up between toyotas and hondas. I dont even know if the milwaukee 1/2” high toque impact with the friction ring can even take em off.
Can confirm that 1/2 high torque ripped off my 86 accord crank pulley bolt with ease.

It ain't cutting it. If you can't do it with the M12 stubby it ain't gonna get it with this one. The pitch is just a bigger battery with EXTENDED RUNTIME than the M12.

You should challenge the snap-op and the Ingersol ran with the High Torque Milwaukee once you can get your hands on it.
The snap-on hit's harder on tightened bolts. It has a larger hammer. I would never pay that price tag, though.
The trick is to have the weighted sockets for the Honda Engine's pulley bolt.
I think the torque spec is 180-200 on a lot of those Honda crank pulley bolts but I’ve seen even 3/4” air wrenches struggle to get it off the first time ....if it’s been removed before it’s a lot easier but from the factory...tough nuts
Try the ingersoll rand W7152 it will make all honda crank bolt fire work
Bring out the 1/2 high torque and wreck shop

Audi hub Bolt is like 150 ft lbs, plus 180 degrees additional. Not sure if my M18 High torque will do it, but I'll let you know. lol

That compact for it's torque rating is more of a novelty item. I wouldn't pay more than 60% of retail for that because of it's low torque rating. I would get the 2nd Gen Mid Torque instead.
Honda crank bolts at least need the mid torque.
With a weighted socket. Maybe the mid torque will do it. Maybe.

They’re not installed, more than 200 ft lbs from the factory. The problem is that rotational forces are at play here. And overtime it will either loosen or tighten the nut further, as the car is driven. So given the option by Honda engineers how this torque applied over tens of thousands of miles will play. They made the logical decision to have it tighten the crank pulley instead of having it come loose.
So break away torque is going to vary wildly, depending on mileage, rpms driven and weather, there is rust formation or not.
I’ve seen Milwaukee 2767 fail to take it off with regular 19 mm impact socket. There’s a video where a man jumps and hangs off an approximately 8 foot long bar, and still doesn’t budge. Assuming he is 150 to 200 lbs we’re talking 1250-1600 ft lbs here.
The solution is a weighted socket. This is a massive 19 mm socket that is about 2 lbs, that increases and impact wrench breakaway torque by 50 percent. So now your impact wrench can put outwards off 1500-1800 ft lbs. Making removal a breeze. I think a mid torque might fall short, under the tightest crankshaft bolts.
@@juanc5149 I had actually seen a video about that but apparently forgot it, Bit of a brain fail. thanks for the extra info, that helps to put a number on it, Honda does do break ins at the factory right? I wonder what it would be if you pulled a motor right out the factory. After break in but before driving it far. In my mind that would give a solid indication of how much it tightens in a given mileage.

You’d probably need the stronger 1/2” gun to take off those crank bolts. And I’m not a big fan of the snap on impacts. They’re nice but for the price I’d go Milwaukee or dewalt.

BOSS! The next video that you make at that yard, can I suggest something.. before you hit those in reverse, give them a couple bumps forward and then switch to reverse to try taking them off!

Honda crank bolt to open. Will not work with gen2 or gen 3 stubby or the mid torque. You will need the big millwaukee 1/2 high torque then it will open the crank bolt. I work at Main dealer Honda. I have all the impacts guu from m12 to m18 and the only one that will work on the crank Bolt is too high torque half-inch. There's nothing wrong with the gin II study it just will not open a crank bolt. Milwaukee impact tools are very good I hed them serviced and I've never had any problems with them keep up the good work I hope they carry on making good tools.

I went today and tried to get the lower price and they basically admitted that it was a pricing error and they fixed it. In fact, if you go to self checkout and try and ring up the packout separately, it will ask for an associate to come help. So the only way to get the three piece w the bin is the #

Maybe the battery most be 5 amp or more and I think will do the work fine

You have a compact m18 battery on of course it's not going to remove a honda crank bolt. I use the xc 5.0 battery and it's more powerful.
Na .. the 3.0ah has 21700 cells more powerful than a 5.0ah with 18650 cells 😉

He didn't have the right impactor to pull that type of torque that's why it didn't Work against those bolts
Iisle 19 mm socket is designed for that bolt. Just saying
