Like Mercedes that took all Chryslers profits and technology and claimed it as their own under their ownership.... Chrysler has been down way worse that anything The Italians can do to them....
I hate to always be negative, but the new Ram 1500 looks identical to the old truck. When you do a redesign, that means the truck should look new or changed from 2019. I drove the new truck and was impressed by the turbo 6 and how it handled. What killed the deal was a price over 60k and not feeling it was worth paying this for an identical body style of the previous generation.
Why change it just to change it? The cab and interior is still arguably the best and so is the ride. I suppose “refresh” would be more accurate but there’s been a serious change in drivetrain as well. I think continually changing components just to change them introduces quality and reliability challenges as well. The issue with Ram is pricing.
@@MrHemikid426 sales were down long before the new model came out. I think Ram was following a Toyota strategy with limited power trains and slow, evolutionary design upgrades to bolster their quality and reliability ratings (which was working) but the mistake was assuming they could demand premium pricing without the long-term reputation. I still hear people saying how unreliable Ram transmissions are. Ram went to ZF transmissions in 2013! Arguably the most reliable transmission in a 1/2 ton truck. After over a decade people still have no clue and keep repeating old info. It takes a long time to build a reputation for quality and reliability, which leads to better resale value, etc.
Ford courier is her experience with trucks? Did she say anything about, What truck she drives now? What trucks has she owned? What work has she done with her truck? What has she towed?
They need to offer the 6.4HD Hemi in the new 1500 platform. Call it a 1500 HD all I need is some heavier springs and HD airbag system so it can be exempt from the emissions problems and it will not only sell like hotcakes, it will help out everybody and satisfy all problems at the same time. It can easily be rated to tow 17,000lbs I really like the new inline six turbo, but the market seems to really want this v8 engine and in a 1500. 1500HD literally is a huge solution to countless issues!
Thanks for asking about and getting info on the Midsize truck (Dakota). So she did really say "midsize" then? So you're interpretation is that it would be a truck to compete with Ranger, Colorado, Tacoma, Frontier instead of a truck to compete with Maverick and Santa Cruz? Just want to make sure I understand your takeaway. Thanks!
Owning a Ram for 10 years I'm done. Dealers are a joke. I got banned by my only dealer that would give me a free ride because they were unable to fix my air suspension and didn't wanna deal with a lifetime warranty, so they said don't come back. Rams used to be good for the money, but now they seem to be higher than others in my area.
I found the CNBC UA-cam vid interesting on how stellantis got caught in a bad position. In the vid it does mention that they are a year or more away from turning it back around with new ICE, hybrid and EV product. Time will tell if they come out at the proper price point. I know my local dealer has now cleared all of his 22’s, 23’s and has limited inventory left of 24’s so, someone is buying them here.
Now when you say new HDs are they saying they are FINALLY coming out the new body style? Do you or did you happen to ask when Ram HD cabs will be comparable with the competition? I know the megacab is bigger but you can’t get a mega cab at every trim level.
My 3 main thoughts here is 1 they need v8s. Competitors will have v8s untill they are possibly banned in America so thats a huge disadvantage. 2 they need to bring all new vehicles to the market. The 1500 is fine to just be refreshed but the hds needed to be all new in 2019 already. 3 if the bring new products they need to be ram products. Not some overseas company that stilantis owns giving ram a product to rebadge.
Over the years, I ordered five brand new rams average total wait and build time was approximately eight weeks... sometimes as fast as six... with ram really not selling that well right now build time should be even faster....
You mean the Rebel? If they put it in the power wagon the payload would drop to like 300 lbs 😂. That or they would have to adjust suspension and springs… oh right that’s the Rebel!
No. Diese makes no sense in a power wagon. Stop trying to make an offroader into a front heavy boat anchor. If you want a diesel in a truck like this, go get a Tremor. Otherwise, get a 2500 and stencil power wagon or whatever you want to on the side.
Prices are still too high there wanting to be Number one in sales but lost all momentum with no No Hemi, Hurricane Engine that’s 3-5 years old and still having some big problems. Ford was smart to keep the coyote just to say we have a V8 available. Ram had a chance to slowly kill the Hemi and let buyers get use to the newer engine. Immediate progress isn’t always good.
Good video Tim. I think the Ramcharger is the most interesting to me but i don't have confidence in it selling well. I hope you can drive it for me cause i doubt i can afford one. It will also be interesting how they plan to compete in a crowded midsize market
I'm curious why you didn't specifically ask what is taking so long to get the RHO preorders out the door. We were supposed to have them in Q3 and here we are mid Q4 with no sign of delivery in sight.
According to the forums and comments from individuals working at SHAP, they have been making around 60 RHOs a day since mid October. The stories just keep changing on this truck and getting very irritated that we can't get answers. Do you have any other contacts out there that could give us more info? The sooner you get your truck the sooner I get mine lol 😆!
I am interested in the Ramcharger although I think using a more efficient charger engine would be better than the one being reported. Still, interesting tech.
In all fairness, it doesn’t really seem like the ram heavy duty is changing that much. They’re still using the same cabin bed, and seem to refuse to do the better looking body lines of the DT series trucks. Not to mention they still have the shortest bed of the heavy duties.
@ And accomplished what? They are still making and moving forward with the same bad decisions of the past. Ford and GM are at least 5 years ahead of RAM. GM is closing in on Ford.
It's not to do with the CEO, it's about Stellantis ownership of the company. They are raiding the coffers and doing minimal to keep the brand moving forward. They are completely half-passing it.
You're right this is part of a bigger overall plan. They're probably not going to tell anyone about that right now. More RAM trucks going to Mexico is bad no matter how you look at it. That does not help the american work force with higher paying jobs and the prices will not come down as they want to reward shareholders not customers so it doesnt help consumers either.
Why didn't these big corporations build a midsized ev trucks first instead of going hog wild on full size trucks I think they could have predicted them better and what people might use them
I really wish that they'd offer more than the pentastar and the hurricane. I'd like to see a non-hybrid pentastar available in the tradesman and lonestar/ bighorn, as well as something between the 305hp and 430hp marks.
Did you tell her they should have put the HO motor in all 1500 trims? Also the SO should focus on fuel economy not power. And hopefully they dont botch the heavy duty release like they have the half tons.
Putting a woman in charge of vehicles that are primarily bought by men is dumb as shit. Hopefully, she lets the men under her decide what the truck needs to attract male buyers.
Wow. Yeah not sure the gender of the CEO is a huge factor. Im sure she can read consumer reports just as good as a man does. My wife is a house wife and I still found this to be a bit misogynistic.
