@@RobertMcGovernTarasis The only time it’s separate I think is for animated films like for Pixar, they have the actor deliver their lines and someone else talks for the supporting character or characters in the scene.

He was Avatar Wan from The Legend of Korra Season 2, the best character with the best origin story. I'm really glad Steven Yeun gets to do another animated epic series like this. Can't wait for Invincible Season 2 next year!

It makes sense that JK has talent as a voice actor, he voiced Tenzin from The Legend of Korra for a long while.
And Portal 2's Cave Johnson! (Someone edited Johnson's "lemons" tirade over one of Omni-Man's rants in episode 8 and it's _glorious._ You can find it on UA-cam by searching "Omni-Man Cave Johnson", but obviously it contains spoilers for episode 8, and to a lesser extend for Portal 2.)
Did you know that the Mark voice actor, Steven Yeun, voiced Wan in Legend of Korra? Also, he voiced Keith in Voltron and JK voiced Stanford Pines in Gravity Falls.
Also JK Simmons was the first voice for the yellow M&M, dude's been in the VO game for a while now.

I love how Steven Yuen is even wearing Mark's outfit like in the show. He's got the blue shirt, white pants, and white sneakers. Helps to get in character I guess, or could be a coincidence.
Might be a little bit of both. When you act you tend to subconsciously take on your characters a little bit it’s kind of unavoidable

It is so cool having them doing the voice recording in the same room/studio. Often in big animation films, the actors never even meet each other until the film premiere.
Ditto! I feel like it would be more natural to act among your cast mates and play off each other. I think it was why some of the dialogue felt more natural to hear like what you would find in a live action.
@@Drstrange3000 exactly, usually on voicing the way they time their lines is by watching the episode with the rest of the vas who've recorded it with a timer for their queue, having them together makes the timing and tone a lot more natural and makes it flow a lot better
Or unless Andrea Romano is involved, if she's directing voices she has them all in the same room

They make it look easy but seriously though they did a amazing job bringing these characters to life I couldn’t imagine anyone else in their roles
Looks like they recorded first and animated around the dialogue; makes for much more natural performances from the actors.
That's pretty standard procedure, for Western productions.

I always thought that the cartoon would have already been drawn, and then they would watch their own scene and act upon it, the fact that it seems like they just read the script and have to visualize the vibe is really cool, super talented cast.
It easier to adjust the animation to fit the voice instead of the other way around.
Yeah I thought they’d at least have storyboards for reference like what most animated movies do but I guess not for Tv shows
Most cartoons usually do this. It's easier to match the emotions and lip flaps don't get all jank. I think some shows did use storyboards alongside the acting but most tv shows have a tight schedule and this is the most efficient while keeping quality the best.
The animators would be doing the acting for them if that were the case. Once the voice work is done, the art team has to do lip synch. It's one of the hardest tasks in animation. It's all about patience and timing.

for me, it's amazing how once you see the end of the season, every dialogue Omniman gives has a twisted meaning in it.

Pretty common in japan for anime but not for English dub that's why it doesn't sound natural.

I love J.K Simmons voice. It's got this ground to it that's mesmerizing.
You can see just how professional these voice actors are, the crew can not find a fault with their performances anywhere.

all the voice actors did amazing but J.k did such an amazing job I watched the think Mark speech like 100 times just blown away by the performance I felt the anger, sadness, regret, disappointment in his voice.
I thought the industry standard was to record individual actor's separately against temp v.o. actors, then splice them together. Glad to see this more organic version

They're so professional. Having such quality actors must make recording so easy. They seem like they need little direction and they must rarely have to do multiple takes.
Very cool that they record together. A lot of voice acting is done alone, so it's hard to play off each other.

this is so cool to see, voice acting has to be one of the most difficult things to do as an actor because so much of it is dependent on putting raw emotions into your voice and then letting the animators take it from there. this cast is amazing
This cast is amazing, they put an animation to another level. The animation is amazing, but is the cast who makes the series be so enjoyable and sometimes even forget that is an animation and not a live action.
After seeing how easily they crush these scenes, I'm convinced it too this crew hardly any longer to record than the actual run time of the show lol

I love how much the actors move their bodies and show the emotions even though they know it's going to be animated. Seems to me that's why the voice acting ends up being so great!
