Luther “If this world was mine” just amazing...
Yesss
Still waiting for him to react to Superstar 🤎
With the vocal powerhouse herself, Cheryl Lynn
SUPERSTAR!
This right here is so good
IF ONLY FOR ONE NIGHT is such a.... soothing masterpiece. Like a warm Luther hug.
Followed up by “Creepin’”... “and its gon’ be tonight.” Be sure to review the combo version now. :-)
Yuppp

That was our prom theme...1986...lol
Luther is treasure. He’ll have you felling emotions you never even knew existed. This song live tho? MAGICAL!
Girl when he use to hit those low notes live >
Yass
Check out the one he did where you can see Dionne Warwick in the audience (it was originally her song this was a cover)
Here it is, it's better than the recorded version ua-cam.com/video/7WPJcEluBT0/v-deo.html
@@DaniLuvMe yes! That live version is the best!
This song is timeless just like Luther's voice. He sings so effortlessly. He has that SSV (Silky Soulful Voice)
“I got vertigo” 💀
The aftermath of listening to Luther in a nutshell lol
Should have reacted to the live performance at the NAACP Awards.
yeah. that is the one you really want.
Yessssss
Yes! I kept mentioning this one.... he does ALLLL the vocals on that one, ugh
YES......it shows his talent so well!!! DO IT JACK!!!!!!
Absolutely. It’s hard to believe that he could improve on this, but he showed out at the awards.
Luther is king among male vocalist. “If Only For One Night” is awesome. He & Beyoncé have a cover together of “The Closer I Get To You” in which they both SANGGG.
Luther featuring Beyonce "The Closer I Get to You" is so on point! Everything is made is classic!
@@VLovesmith7999 Yesss!! I remember hearing it for the first time when I was young & I was like “Beyoncé can sing SING!?” I also couldn’t get Tiffany Pollard’s voice out of my head lol.
That was a great remake, she’s no Roberta Flack, but did well on their version
That song is beautiful 🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶
If This World was Mine with Cheryl Lynn and There's Nothing Better than Love with Gregory Hines. I love Luther...period, but I Love those two.
Excellent choices! There’s nothing better than love is one of my favorites - such an underrated song
I have seen him in concert 5 times and he is my favorite of all times. I am 67 years old. I ugly cried when he died. No one like him.
What makes me sad is that there is never gonna be anymore ballads like this coming out in the future, at least on the radio. They can make as many “in your feelings” songs as they want now, but these are types of songs that really get me sad
True, the only 2 artist that come close to Luther sound is Rubin Studdard and Jaheim.
Pianist on this track...the incomparable Nat Adderly Jr.
He was also a bad ass Cornet player with his brother Julian Cannonball Adderly
Jack where you stopped it and replayed that's the sample from Kanye's "Slow Jams" ft twista and big tune from Kanye's first album which I consider a classic!!
“She said she wants some Marvin Gaye, some Luther Vandross, a little Anita, will definitely set this party off rightttttt!” Yes!!! A whole vibe!
@@JackReacts904 it's a hit. Love that song.
I never clicked so fast, Anything Luther Vandross. Next react to Luther- Bad Boy Having A Party. 🔥 Straight CLASSIC.
Definitely “Bad Boy/Having a Party” was everybody’s song!!!
Pleeeeeeassseee Jack!!!🙏🥰🔥
“I got heartburn!” - Jack Jenkins, 2020 🤣🤣🤣🤣
When we lost Luther, we lost THE BEST!! NO ONE LIKE HIM!!
One of the greatest vocal performances of all time, and definitely the best among male vocalists!
I LOVE U MR LUTHER VANDROSS Forever!!
What do you mean definitely the “best among male vocalists” lol okay.
@@lennarthomas Thx^^
This song was a shining example of a true artist practicing restraint and discernment. I was around 19 or 20 when this came out. Exquisite!!
The G.O.A.T never disappoints! That “Say you’re gonna be, are you gonna be, say you’re gonna be...” part has been sampled in so many hip hop tracks. Masterpiece! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Luther Vandross is EVERYTHING! His vocals are unmatched even to this day. No one sings like him. He truly sings about LOVE. The lyrics to his songs are beautiful, he sings them beautifully, the instrumentation is ALWAYS beautiful. I mean there’s nothing bad to say about Luther. It’s tough to pick a favorite Luther song but one of mine is “Love Won’t Let Me Wait”. The Live at Radio City Music Hall version is a masterpiece. Oh yeah, Luther live is even better than Luther recorded. Imagine that! 😂.
Don’t know if anyone mentioned this, but this song is a cover. It was originally written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David for Dionne Warwick, who originally recorded it for a (now) little-remembered 1964 movie of the same name. At the time, it was only a modest hit for Warwick. When Luther covered it in the 1980s, it reintroduced the song to a new generation and, of course, Luther made the vocal arrangement his own. It was an even bigger hit with his version. Here is a link to video footage of Luther performing this song at the 1988 NAACP awards with Warwick in the audience. It should go without saying that his performance brought Warwick (as well as most of the audience) to tears:
ua-cam.com/video/gQ9ZVGM7smE/v-deo.html
Thanks for sharing the link. Flawless performance.
Bacharach wrote the music, Hal David wrote the lyrics they both produced for Dionne.
@@rayjones5684 Thanks for the correction. It's fixed. You're absolutely right, I forgot to give credit to Hal David. My apologies. Another titan of songwriting that doesn't often get the credit he deserves.
That bottom lip pushes out & you give that "stank" face is when you KNOW its that good.
Luther- so amazing to be loved is everyones favourite!!!!!!!!
Luther always overwhelmed with his voice in so many ways. He had to face alot of jealousy and rumors within the industry but his fans were male and female alike. His live performance of this song in tribute to Dionne Warwick at the NAACP Awards is here on UA-cam also. It's a must see. 🤔
When music was made for a reason and real music drowned out all the trash
Yes indeed
! I thought somebody was going to have to come pick you up, because it looked like Luther floored you! 🎶🎤🤩🎶
One of the most talented singers ever. Gone but never to be forgotten. Have you listened to Marvin Gaye “I Want You”? It’s an experience.
OMG!!! I love that song!
All right, Jack!!! I haven’t tuned in to you for a while, but when I saw that you were reviewing THIS SONG, I had to stop EVERYTHING and watch! This song is such a masterpiece, and I loved your reaction. Also, your intro is great!👍🏾💙
His performance of this on Soul Train is magical. 💖 Definitely looked like an experience. I remember feeling so shocked to find out that Twista and Kanye's "are you gonna be, say you're gonna be" in "Slow Jamz" from like back in '05 was actually a Luther Vandross sample. Every time I hear that part I think of this 😂
This was a cover of a Dionne Warwick song. He also covered another Warwick song called “Anyone Who Had A Heart” , kilt it! Check it out.
Been waiting on this one. Your reaction is PRICELESS. School these youngsters ...
React to Luther vandross- “superstar” and “dance with my father”.
Jack...before the song even started playing I said to myself “this is gonna mess him up” lol!! Just like it messed all of us up back in 1981. I was a teenager at the time this song came out! I have so many memories! Today I am 54 years young. From the point of when this masterpiece was released, it was solidified; Luther was among the top 3- 5 greatest of all time. He was gifted! His music is timeless and will live on forever. Nonetheless, he is sorely missed. But I am thankful that God allowed us to live on the earth at this time to be witnesses to his greatness firsthand! Luther Vandross was truly a blessing to the world. You may as well close shop for the day because you can’t even top that one. Your reaction was priceless!!! Thank you for keeping this great music alive that the world in its current state so desperately needs. ❤️
Luther-Anyone who had a heart
Teena Marie-Casanova Brown
Personally I think he should react to Shadow Boxing the other Teena Marie song on that excellent album
Yes! We need Teena Marie reactions!
One of THE BEST, although probably underrated Luther songs is Forever, For Always, For Love.
Yup that's why he's my favorite singer...it catches you off guard!
The GOAT of singing.... The Master of voice
Luther if this world was mine!!!
R.I.P .. Luther 😇 🙏IMO he's one of the best love songS writer ever with a voice to match.. Miss his music but his oldies is always on repeat 🎶🎶🎵🎵
His voice is butter. 🧈 💞 He sang background for so many artists of so many genres. I like when he does R&B and flexes his jazz sensibilities.
So glad to see you reacting to this song. You HAVE to watch the live performance of this song at the NAACP Awards.
Absolutely!!!
I’m here for the 1st time…..THE INTROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO🤯
And you playin MY MAN!!!!!…..#Lutherforever✌🏾🖤🖤🖤
I’m HERE for the faces of your #reaction🥰
YOU need to see Luther's LIVE performance on the NAACP awards paying tribute to Dion Warwick. He will have your heart feeling like it's about to jump out of your freaking chest. There is NOBODY that even comes close to Luther's voice walking this planet.
House is Not a Home 🏠 IS This Legendary VOCAL BALLADEER 🎙️🎩 BEST of THE BEST MALE VOCALIST & SONG 💖 OMG PERFECTION 💖THE HURT YOU VOCALS💖
This man gave a concert beyond measures. He really gave u an experience that u will never, never forget. RIP LV!
Deborah Cox singing "How Did You Get Here?" is also another song that can move you and get you lost in the music and pull all your emotions to the surface!
One of my favorite Luther Vandross songs.
Must do Luther and Janet very interesting combo. "Best things in life are free" The new jack swing version
This is one of the most significant performances in popular music history. It is simply brilliant!
Luther - superstar
Thank you for celebrating Luther like that. He's smiling from up above :)
Alexander O’Neal ft cherelle Saturday love
Rick James & teena Marie fire and desire
Light headed I got vertigo lol
Another of many great covers by Luther.
I'm so lucky to have seen him in concert! If you can believe it, he sounds even better in person.
NAACP AWARD live 1988 ? Performing this song live. Amazing
Jack: "Luther's vocals r like melted butter n brown sugar mixed together in a pan, jus buttering around, whatever that verb is it's just incredible..... Incredible!" Perfect description sir!
Omg Luther just make u wanna cry 😭 he was so sweet! I miss Luther 🥺🥺
This is my all time favorite song of his. Never mind his live version where he totally owns it!! No other artist compares to him,he is so missed. Glad you shared.
This is my all time favorite song! Has been since I was a little girl and I've never wavered!!!
Jesus! You guys aren't lying about this song making you feel. I was like whatever...then I cried.
"Superstar" by Luther next please!!!!
Thank you for viewing this song.. It brings back memories, when I saw him live.
MAN, we need some of this from our generation. Song had me crying
You still my 'Boy' on your comments, Jack! Thanks, Man.
Luther makes u think the song over and then gives you more😂....legendary....one of a kind talent
This was one of my mother's all time favorite songs, but my dad always said whenever he came home and she had it playing on repeat he knew he was in trouble for something. He said if he opened the door and heard this song playing, he would tell himself "NOPE" and turn right back around to give her time to calm down.
He is king of the remakes, made this song his own like only Luther could
"I'm lightheaded... I got vertigo." 😆
Now you understand what those of us that grew up listening to artists like Luther are going through now-a-days. Music just ain't the same today. Check out his live performance of A House is Not a Home on the NAACP Awards back in the day. He killed on that performance and the people in the audience were acting just like you. We were fortunate to witness music on another level back in the day. Thumbs up to your video sir! Keep reacting!!
This song will never go out of style. This is actually a cover but he made it his own!
You gotta have an oxygen tank on deck when Luther comes on!!!😂😂😂😂😂🎤
Burt Bacharach songwriter. Gotta check his stuff, very unique, even his lighter work that was sort of pop. Check the music he did with Dionne Warwick (Whitney Houston’s auntie). That was Dionne’s original break through from the ‘60’s, & she recorded this song originally, probably in the ‘70’s, but Luther sure put his stamp on this bad boy! His musical director & producer was pianist/keyboardist, Nat Adderly, Jr., sone of legendary jazz trumpeter composer, the late Nat Adderly, & nephew to Nat’s brother, band leader, master alto saxophonist, the late Cannonball Adderly.
Luther with CHANGE "SEARCHING and THE GLOW OF LOVE" I PROMISE YOU WILL LOVE💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
You need to watch his performance of this song at NAACP Awards. It's his best performance EVER!!!!! It's 🔥🔥🔥
Amazing Love by Luther is a must if you love this song.

Him, The Isley Brothers and Aretha Franklin were "gifted" in terms of doing Covers of other people's Songs. This was actually done by The Late Dusty Springfield and it was written by Burt Bacharach and his Late Partner Hal David. If you can check out his version of Superstar by The Carpenters or Love Won't Make Me Wait by Major Harris.
I thought it was the live performance... Plz Jack REACT to IT!!
When he drops to THAT augmented 7th.... that’s heartstopping artistry really right there

I know he’s one of your favs by this point 😂🤣. Keep listening to his hits, it gets better!! No one like Luther!!
Anybody who’s not two stepping to your into is dead inside…🔥🔥
Dionne Warwick did this back in the 1964 ...this is timeless!
First thing I think of when I hear this is Showtime at the Apollo every episode somebody singing this damn song
Love the food analogy on this one! I've said this before; If music had a Chef, Luther would be it!
Picture it, Cambridge, Ma, 1981...12 year old me, rushing home after school to play thins album over and over on a turntable that I was forbidden to touch. But I had to hear my Luther before the parents got home! Best part? The lyric were on the sleeve inside 🙂
Anything Luther will send you to heaven!
This song just makes me weep.
Jack if you want to be FLOORED and SHOOK listen to Luther sing this song Live at the NAACP Image awards where he honored Dion Warwick! She could hardly speak after he finished and that is no exaggeration!!!! You will be floored! It will take you to another level!
If Only For One Night.... literally so good. Hopefully you get to it next 😭
...and then he has to let it ride to Creepin’.
