Luther “If this world was mine” just amazing...
Yesss
Still waiting for him to react to Superstar 🤎
With the vocal powerhouse herself, Cheryl Lynn
SUPERSTAR!
This right here is so good
When we lost Luther, we lost THE BEST!! NO ONE LIKE HIM!!
IF ONLY FOR ONE NIGHT is such a.... soothing masterpiece. Like a warm Luther hug.
Followed up by “Creepin’”... “and its gon’ be tonight.” Be sure to review the combo version now. :-)
Yuppp

That was our prom theme...1986...lol
This song is timeless just like Luther's voice. He sings so effortlessly. He has that SSV (Silky Soulful Voice)
Luther is treasure. He’ll have you felling emotions you never even knew existed. This song live tho? MAGICAL!
Girl when he use to hit those low notes live >
Yass
Check out the one he did where you can see Dionne Warwick in the audience (it was originally her song this was a cover)
Here it is, it's better than the recorded version ua-cam.com/video/7WPJcEluBT0/v-deo.html
@@DaniLuvMe yes! That live version is the best!
“I got vertigo” 💀
The aftermath of listening to Luther in a nutshell lol
My husband’s song he would sing to me. He died at 28 in 2003. RIP Babe
Sorry for your loss x
Sorry for your loss 😢😢❤️
💜
🙏🙏🙏
This song was a shining example of a true artist practicing restraint and discernment. I was around 19 or 20 when this came out. Exquisite!!
Melted butter, sugar in the pan..
That is caramel
Yes, Luther has that effect. So much talent gone way too soon ❤✊🏾👏🏽👏🏽
“I got heartburn!” - Jack Jenkins, 2020 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love seeing this young generation discover real music. Timeless music. Phenomenal music. Baby making music. Luther will always live through his great music. Jack is a whole vibe when he hears good music lol I love it.
Luther is king among male vocalist. “If Only For One Night” is awesome. He & Beyoncé have a cover together of “The Closer I Get To You” in which they both SANGGG.
Luther featuring Beyonce "The Closer I Get to You" is so on point! Everything is made is classic!
@@VLovesmith7999 Yesss!! I remember hearing it for the first time when I was young & I was like “Beyoncé can sing SING!?” I also couldn’t get Tiffany Pollard’s voice out of my head lol.
That was a great remake, she’s no Roberta Flack, but did well on their version
That song is beautiful 🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶
The G.O.A.T never disappoints! That “Say you’re gonna be, are you gonna be, say you’re gonna be...” part has been sampled in so many hip hop tracks. Masterpiece! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Jack you are speaking the truth how can you listen to today's singers compared to this!!!
*Luther* is the *King of Runs* 🗣🎙📻🎶
This song put Luther on the map when it came out! Everybody was like wait who is this guy! Classic song.
'Glow of love' put Luther on the map with the group 'Change'
That bottom lip pushes out & you give that "stank" face is when you KNOW its that good.
If This World was Mine with Cheryl Lynn and There's Nothing Better than Love with Gregory Hines. I love Luther...period, but I Love those two.
Excellent choices! There’s nothing better than love is one of my favorites - such an underrated song
Luther Vandross is EVERYTHING! His vocals are unmatched even to this day. No one sings like him. He truly sings about LOVE. The lyrics to his songs are beautiful, he sings them beautifully, the instrumentation is ALWAYS beautiful. I mean there’s nothing bad to say about Luther. It’s tough to pick a favorite Luther song but one of mine is “Love Won’t Let Me Wait”. The Live at Radio City Music Hall version is a masterpiece. Oh yeah, Luther live is even better than Luther recorded. Imagine that! 😂.
Jack where you stopped it and replayed that's the sample from Kanye's "Slow Jams" ft twista and big tune from Kanye's first album which I consider a classic!!
“She said she wants some Marvin Gaye, some Luther Vandross, a little Anita, will definitely set this party off rightttttt!” Yes!!! A whole vibe!
@@JackReacts904 it's a hit. Love that song.
What makes me sad is that there is never gonna be anymore ballads like this coming out in the future, at least on the radio. They can make as many “in your feelings” songs as they want now, but these are types of songs that really get me sad
True, the only 2 artist that come close to Luther sound is Rubin Studdard and Jaheim.
Pianist on this track...the incomparable Nat Adderly Jr.
He was also a bad ass Cornet player with his brother Julian Cannonball Adderly
All right, Jack!!! I haven’t tuned in to you for a while, but when I saw that you were reviewing THIS SONG, I had to stop EVERYTHING and watch! This song is such a masterpiece, and I loved your reaction. Also, your intro is great!👍🏾💙
I never clicked so fast, Anything Luther Vandross. Next react to Luther- Bad Boy Having A Party. 🔥 Straight CLASSIC.
Definitely “Bad Boy/Having a Party” was everybody’s song!!!
Pleeeeeeassseee Jack!!!🙏🥰🔥
Luther's live performances are mind blowing! they pierce right to your soul, Jack!
! I thought somebody was going to have to come pick you up, because it looked like Luther floored you! 🎶🎤🤩🎶
**SCREAMS**
**CLICKS**
**SWOONS**
So freakin goooood!!! 😫❤️
FINALLLLLY!! THANK YOUUU!!
Jack Reacts Loved watching your reaction. It’s great to see a song like this get the appreciation it deserves! 😊
Should have reacted to the live performance at the NAACP Awards.
yeah. that is the one you really want.
Yessssss
Yes! I kept mentioning this one.... he does ALLLL the vocals on that one, ugh
YES......it shows his talent so well!!! DO IT JACK!!!!!!
Absolutely. It’s hard to believe that he could improve on this, but he showed out at the awards.
Fun Fact: Dionne Warwick recorded this song 1st in 1964.
Ok. I heard Mavis Staples sing this. Thought she was the originator. Awesome history lesson.
For real!?!? I never knew that
I thought it was Anyone Who Had a Heart.
Gotta react to Luther’s live version.. crazy good
Exactly. The NAACP Award show performance is outstanding!!!!
He is ridiculously talented... like an angel
Jack, boy, props to you! You're a cool young dude with old man level musical wisdom. Keep doin' it. Luther and Anita Baker are two of my all time favorites. I appreciate you!
@@JackReacts904 u need to do Body and Soul by Anita Baker
When music was made for a reason and real music drowned out all the trash
Yes indeed
React to Luther vandross- “superstar” and “dance with my father”.
Been waiting on this one. Your reaction is PRICELESS. School these youngsters ...
Luther and Michael Jackson's voices are pure gifts given to the fabric of the universe from the most high to know there has to be a god!!!
@jesschamp7132. PLEASE. EXPLAIN Michael Jackson COMPARABLE to OR EVEN WITH LUTHER VANDROSS' VOCAL TALENT "IN YOUR ESTIMATION" FOR ME PLEASE ❤ Luther Vandross CAN SING THE WAY Michael Jackson DANCES BUT.....😳🤔 MICHAEL JACKSON'S VOCALS ARE IN "ABSOLUTELY NO WAY" COMPARABLE TO LUTHER VANDROSS'. Luther Vandross has NO VOCAL PEER "COMPARABLE" IS R&B AS FAR AS ABILITY, STYLE AND MELLOW TEXTURE. Michael Jackson had that ABILITY TO BUILD UPON WHEN HE WAS A KID, HEADING THE "JACKSON 5". I RESPECTFULLY "DON'T BELIEVE" LUTHER VANDROSS HAS AN EQUAL "IN SOULFULLY VOCAL EXPRESSIONISM OF SONGS..... PRIMARILY R&B. HE STANDS ALONE...AT THE TOP. HELP ME OUT WITH ANOTHER. BECAUSE THE SISTAS IN R&B HAVE "PATTI LABELLE AND WHITNEY HOUSTON" FOR STARTERS. I'M SPEAKING HUMBLY. HELP ME OUT. MUSIC GENRE OR STYLE DOESN'T MATTER. I'M TALKING "VOCAL EXPRESSIONISM".
Luther no one can compare!! He’s the male version of The Voice!! Yesssss!!!! Saw him twice in concert and live he sounds just like the recording!! LIVE!! Silhouette voice!!! He’s the man!! LUTHER VANDROSS! No Doubt!!
Drop the mic!!!! 🎤
One of the greatest vocal performances of all time, and definitely the best among male vocalists!
I LOVE U MR LUTHER VANDROSS Forever!!
What do you mean definitely the “best among male vocalists” lol okay.
@@lennarthomas Thx^^
His performance of this on Soul Train is magical. 💖 Definitely looked like an experience. I remember feeling so shocked to find out that Twista and Kanye's "are you gonna be, say you're gonna be" in "Slow Jamz" from like back in '05 was actually a Luther Vandross sample. Every time I hear that part I think of this 😂
Luther always overwhelmed with his voice in so many ways. He had to face alot of jealousy and rumors within the industry but his fans were male and female alike. His live performance of this song in tribute to Dionne Warwick at the NAACP Awards is here on UA-cam also. It's a must see. 🤔
Jack...before the song even started playing I said to myself “this is gonna mess him up” lol!! Just like it messed all of us up back in 1981. I was a teenager at the time this song came out! I have so many memories! Today I am 54 years young. From the point of when this masterpiece was released, it was solidified; Luther was among the top 3- 5 greatest of all time. He was gifted! His music is timeless and will live on forever. Nonetheless, he is sorely missed. But I am thankful that God allowed us to live on the earth at this time to be witnesses to his greatness firsthand! Luther Vandross was truly a blessing to the world. You may as well close shop for the day because you can’t even top that one. Your reaction was priceless!!! Thank you for keeping this great music alive that the world in its current state so desperately needs. ❤️
This was a cover of a Dionne Warwick song. He also covered another Warwick song called “Anyone Who Had A Heart” , kilt it! Check it out.
Don’t know if anyone mentioned this, but this song is a cover. It was originally written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David for Dionne Warwick, who originally recorded it for a (now) little-remembered 1964 movie of the same name. At the time, it was only a modest hit for Warwick. When Luther covered it in the 1980s, it reintroduced the song to a new generation and, of course, Luther made the vocal arrangement his own. It was an even bigger hit with his version. Here is a link to video footage of Luther performing this song at the 1988 NAACP awards with Warwick in the audience. It should go without saying that his performance brought Warwick (as well as most of the audience) to tears:
ua-cam.com/video/gQ9ZVGM7smE/v-deo.html
Thanks for sharing the link. Flawless performance.
Bacharach wrote the music, Hal David wrote the lyrics they both produced for Dionne.
@@rayjones5684 Thanks for the correction. It's fixed. You're absolutely right, I forgot to give credit to Hal David. My apologies. Another titan of songwriting that doesn't often get the credit he deserves.
Luther Vandross is one of a kind. He caressed a song and made women feel beautiful. He was a gift and his music lives on.
Luther, Michael, Lionel... nothing better. Music today does not even compare.
Must do Luther and Janet very interesting combo. "Best things in life are free" The new jack swing version
One of the most talented singers ever. Gone but never to be forgotten. Have you listened to Marvin Gaye “I Want You”? It’s an experience.
OMG!!! I love that song!
Luther is a favorite of mine. He sings with such joy and passion.
So glad to see you reacting to this song. You HAVE to watch the live performance of this song at the NAACP Awards.
Absolutely!!!
Luther-Anyone who had a heart
Teena Marie-Casanova Brown
Personally I think he should react to Shadow Boxing the other Teena Marie song on that excellent album
Yes! We need Teena Marie reactions!
I have seen him in concert 5 times and he is my favorite of all times. I am 67 years old. I ugly cried when he died. No one like him.
Thank you for celebrating Luther like that. He's smiling from up above :)
Alexander O’Neal ft cherelle Saturday love
Rick James & teena Marie fire and desire
Light headed I got vertigo lol
I thought it was the live performance... Plz Jack REACT to IT!!
Luther had that honeyfied voice with so much soul... I really miss his music...
"Superstar" by Luther next please!!!!
The live NAACP version though ....
Here is the link Jack. Best live performance ive ever seen!!
ua-cam.com/video/gQ9ZVGM7smE/v-deo.html
Luther’s voice and interpretation of lyrics are the best blue prints for love!
The live version is of the chain, first song by Mavis Staples back in the 70's both unbelievable.
Now you gotta listen to Rick James and Teena Marie - Fire and desire
It been requested many times but I guess we have to wait and see if he will do it.
I feel like he’ll really like that song plus Betty Wright- Women to women
He WILL like it...Jack, please!!
Please react to Stevie Wonder: All in Love is Fair and Isn't She Lovely.
Yesss! Classic artist! Living for the city and superstition
Yes Stevie Wonder!!! "I Just Called To Say I Love You".
This man gave a concert beyond measures. He really gave u an experience that u will never, never forget. RIP LV!
the bass line in Luther's song fire all day!!!! Of course vocals are supreme
This is my all time favorite song of his. Never mind his live version where he totally owns it!! No other artist compares to him,he is so missed. Glad you shared.
The Live Version to this song is even better, Janet Jackson, and all the black Excellence in the audience is heartwarming to see to say the least, I think it was some award show but he literally had the women in the audience crying! NAACP AWARDS look it up you'll be shocked to see its even better than the album❤🖤💚!
This was one of my mother's all time favorite songs, but my dad always said whenever he came home and she had it playing on repeat he knew he was in trouble for something. He said if he opened the door and heard this song playing, he would tell himself "NOPE" and turn right back around to give her time to calm down.
Check out Luther Vandross So Amazing and Stevie Wonder Ribbon in the Sky please 🔥
Thank you for viewing this song.. It brings back memories, when I saw him live.
Him, The Isley Brothers and Aretha Franklin were "gifted" in terms of doing Covers of other people's Songs. This was actually done by The Late Dusty Springfield and it was written by Burt Bacharach and his Late Partner Hal David. If you can check out his version of Superstar by The Carpenters or Love Won't Make Me Wait by Major Harris.
I'm so lucky to have seen him in concert! If you can believe it, he sounds even better in person.
Luther makes u think the song over and then gives you more😂....legendary....one of a kind talent
I’m here for the 1st time…..THE INTROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO🤯
And you playin MY MAN!!!!!…..#Lutherforever✌🏾🖤🖤🖤
I’m HERE for the faces of your #reaction🥰
Trust me when I say, you will change your new favorite each time you listen to this man's work. He is a perfectionist. This is what makes his music like no other. He paid special attention to every last detail right down to the last note played. I hurt so much just thinking of what more he had in his musical genius mind that the world will not ever hear.😭😭😭
Made me cry!.... Took me right back.....Luther!!!!
My favorite song no lie I’ve probably played this song over 1,000 times just this week
Ok sweets...Luther is just 🔥! I listen to his greatest hits all the time! Sometimes I find myself crying and singing at the same time!
One of my all time favorite ballads and vocal performances. As some have mentioned, the live performance at the soul train awards which was actually a tribute to Dionne Warwick (Whitney Houston’s cousin) who was the original artist to record this song. She was in the audience in tears as were many artists that you will see like a young Janet Jackson.
Another great male vocalist from this era that you want to check out that is forgotten a lot of times is Freddie Jackson. Another effortless male vocalist.
And man Jack....where is the Barry White?!? You want smooth and adult sexy?! You want to make the ladies happy?! Barry White my brotha!! Barry White!!!
Jack: "Luther's vocals r like melted butter n brown sugar mixed together in a pan, jus buttering around, whatever that verb is it's just incredible..... Incredible!" Perfect description sir!
This song will never go out of style. This is actually a cover but he made it his own!
This is my favorite song of all time. Luther Vandross is my favorite male vocalist of all time.
Luther- so amazing to be loved is everyones favourite!!!!!!!!
You still my 'Boy' on your comments, Jack! Thanks, Man.
That voice ... just perfection 💜
One of THE BEST, although probably underrated Luther songs is Forever, For Always, For Love.
Live luther performances are truly magic experiences 😍😍😍😎🔥🔥
Yup that's why he's my favorite singer...it catches you off guard!
R.I.P .. Luther 😇 🙏IMO he's one of the best love songS writer ever with a voice to match.. Miss his music but his oldies is always on repeat 🎶🎶🎵🎵
Brings back memories of the basement house parties back in the day and the slow “dancing” that went down to this song..AND it’s more than 7 minutes long too! 😜☺️
Luther is like no other and that voice will be missed forever, RIP! ♥️
NAACP AWARD live 1988 ? Performing this song live. Amazing
Luther if this world was mine!!!
Perfection just pure perfection
Luther is definitely on the love making loop! Classic love songs! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
React to Luther Vandross - Superstar next!! Great video fam. Digging the new intro btw 😂
His voice is butter. 🧈 💞 He sang background for so many artists of so many genres. I like when he does R&B and flexes his jazz sensibilities.
Now you understand what those of us that grew up listening to artists like Luther are going through now-a-days. Music just ain't the same today. Check out his live performance of A House is Not a Home on the NAACP Awards back in the day. He killed on that performance and the people in the audience were acting just like you. We were fortunate to witness music on another level back in the day. Thumbs up to your video sir! Keep reacting!!
Kanye sampled this song for his song slow jams ft Jamie Foxx and twista that say you gonna be part
@@JackReacts904 yes
Oh, how I love seeing young people with so much soul connecting to timeless artistry. (Luther, Hal David, Burt Bacharach)
