I’m 22 so I didn’t grow up on Luther, I know the big hits, but when I did my research, I fell in love! He has the smoothest, crisp voices I have ever heard. It’s so beautiful, I get filled with warmth every time I listen to him 😭 he’s AMAZING! And what’s crazy, is his live performances are better than the studio version 😱
@@paulapeaks3382 omg! The Wembley performances are *chefs kiss* For me, my favorite Wembley is if only for one night. I swear I got teary eyed (happy teary eyed) 😭 just beautiful and a house is not a home 😭😭
Luther floats on the notes. His voice was sent directly from the heavens. It's hard to imagine him ever singing background for anyone, but when he was pushed to the front, he never looked back. He couldn't. He was just too good. He's the one you put on when you're looking to have a "special" night with a significant other. Guaranteed success! Lol
Missing Luther like crazy! The background singers were like no other background singers on the planet! Their voices compliment Luther so well and their harmonies were perfection! ❤️
NOOOOO!!!!!!!! He IS. NOT!!!!! ready for that one--That song WILL overload his system!!!!! He is barely hanging on with Luther as it is; Lenny WILL KILL him!!!!
This song transitions into "Creepin" on the album, which is smooth AF. He ends this song with the a capella "if only for one night...." And the first words in "Creepin" are... "and it's gonna be tonight..."
I am so glad you mentioned that transition into “Creepin’” which is definitely required listening. Not even the radio stations will play one without the other. So I hope that this young man listens to it that way the next time as well.
Not the he needed to do it, but Lutha was the king of remakes. He did them so well, you didn't know they were done before him. Cissy Houston is on background vocals.
Luther is that dude! You should also check out the song that comes after this on the album (yeah, I said album LOL!), Creepin'. It's a Stevie Wonder song that Luther redid. Another classic Luther jam. Listen to If Only for One NIght and Creepin' back to back to get the full effect.
One of my favorites that he has sung. He sounded the exact same when singing in front of an audience. No lip syncing at all. You should see the NAACP performance.
Luther Vandross a true genius!!! You’re right Jack!! Luther never miss, he’s a perfectionist !! From lyrics, to instrumental background, to background singers, to band!! You will get beyond your monies worth!!! Luther is the real deal!!
I literally gasped when I saw the title of this vid, my favorite Luther song by far, he uses his voice so masterfully and this song is perfection. More please!
All I can say is Luther was a perfectionist!! So all you are ever going to get from him is profession at it's highest point. Can't wait until you sample more Luther they will blow your ever-loving mind trust me. My all-time favorite artist and I miss him so much😥😥❤💕
Whenever Luther does a remake, he makes it his own. This song was written and originally recorded by Brenda Russell in 1979. Luther released this awesome, more sensual remake in 2001.
Luther was one of those artists who was truly unique, no one is like him. He did a song with Dione Warwick "How Many Times Can We Say Goodbye" that I love.
So Amazing was/is the greatest Luther Vandross song of all time. He has many great songs but that one stayed on repeat for me...💝💝💝 ***A Reaction To That Song Would Be A Treat****
YASSSS! ❤️ I watched all the way through just waiting for the end like, “If this boy talks over the ending we gon fight!!” Thankfully it worked out!! 😂 Okay, now do “Superstar,” & the live version of “A House Is Not A Home” at the 1986 NAACP Image Awards. Please & thank you! 😏
My absolute fav Luther Vandross song. Omg it’s just so smooth and beautiful. I love the subtle yearning and sexual undertone to it🔥🎧🖤🖤… I was around 14 when I first heard this song on the smooth jazz station 95.5:: I’m from chicago and I used to play that station every night going to sleep. The music was so soothing. I definitely discovered many gems listening to that station💕🤩
Yes! Omg, yes! I saw Luther in concert years ago as a young adult. I couldn't even control the different emotions that I was feeling. It was an amazing experience. His voice was mesmerizing. 🤯
Jack if you like luther you have to react to him singing a" house is not a home" live at the NAACP awards. In the crowd of celebs you' see a young Janet Jackson captivated by his performance.
First... I love Lutha 🙌🏾 Second...it is so refreshing to watch your reactions to a diverse range of old school and current music. You don’t just listen to the song and say “oh that’s a dope song”. You listen everything that encompasses the song from the production, instrumentation, lyrics, etc. Keep it pushing you’ve definitely found your niche!
You need to here this song and let the next song on that album play with this song. Its called Creep. Only for one night and Creep is perfect together.
I LOVE Luther Vandross!! Thanx 2 my mom always listenin 2 his CDs while she cleans around the house. Me n my mom's favorite song, especially my FAVORITE song by Luther Vandross is Superstar! It's a BEAUTIFUL song! I also like the live version he performed. My uncle has it on tape #I❤IT!!
Luther is just going to keep giving it.. Keep serving it.. The arrangements, the nuances in his vocal delivery and variations and the backing singers.. Oh yes.. Have been a lifelong fan of Luther.. Please, because I got to see your reaction, react to A House Is Not A Home Live and watch the performance and the star studded reactions of some major singers in the crowd..Live at The NAACP image awards A House is Not A Home.. Its what he does with his voice and how he delivers it.. Stunning
It's like everytime I catch you reacting to music that I love and grew up on you make me smile thank you Jack do more Luther Vandross. And can you react to Minnie Riperton and the Jones Girls
Jack it took a minute for you to react to Luther I’m glad your on the fan train. Luther gives me chills. we are just at the beginning keep em coming we need Luther in rotation
This is a ballad. A thematic performance which cannot be compared to intro, hook, verse songs that you can easily pause on and comment because of predictability. You cant predict a ballad like this one and they don't give you places to pause and comment. It's a beautiful continuation
Luther lives! My all time favorite artist! And my relative Nat Adderley Jr.is his arranger and keyboardist ( who is son of jazz great Nat Adderley Sr.. and nephew of jazz great Cannonball Adderley).
Every time you react to a Luther song you will say 'this is my favorite'....lol.....his songs are just that awesome!!!! Take a listen to "Love Won't Let Me Wait"....
Yes Luther & Janet had great time together during making of this song and had other project in work together. It never was able finish project do Janet Jackson touring engagement and his demise.
Its so funny to see you react to Luther. We know everything that Luther touched was fire! Will you please react to Rick James and Teena Marie "Fire and Desire"? You will LOVE that one!
Its too bad that you won't have a chance to catch him in concert. There are concert videos, especially of him at Wembley Stadium, from his last tour. When you've reacted to a majority of his songs, check that one out. However, as good as it is, its nothing like being in the same room with him, his background singers and his orchestra. I saw him twice, early in his solo career and at the end. The early performance featured this R&B/Jazz anjenue/phenom named Anita Baker as his opener. The last one was at Radio City Music Hall at Rockefeller Center. Thats one block from where they put up that huge Xmas tree in NYC every year. Anyway, my date and I were there, on Valentines Day. We had 2 tickets, center section, about 50 feet from the stage. It was a night, full of magic, romance, humor and some joyful noises. It was a night that I'd never forget.
Man this song is so good💜💜💜my mom use to play it when I was a kid and be singing it early in the morning cooking breakfast....I’m so glad my mom played all the old school music thru the house
You MUST check out Luther at the 1988 NAACP Awards show singing Still In Love, it’s a Game Changer! Luther’s songs are great, but when he performs, they become amazing

This is one of my fav songs of Luther's, it's a pure classic. Next time react to his song "Superstar" you will LOVE it if you love this one. That is another famous classic of his
As far as perfection Teena Marie is the Luther of female vocalists. Try her song Tune in Tomorrow. Either react to it or listen to her offcamera. You'll gladly dive down the Teena Marie rabbit hole.
It still hurts my heart that he's gone. Luther was in my life for so long. Providing background music for so many good memories. I loved him, and I miss him, but apparently, his work here was done. See you someday my brother.
Luther. The best to ever do it.

Damn I miss Luther. That "choir" of background singers includes Lisa Fischer. Not sure if you've checked her out yet. Nice haircut!
He did! He reacted to "How can I ease the pain"
Yep. He surely did!

By far my favorite Luther Vandross song....soooooo Beautiful.
Luther was one of a kind...his music stands the test of time 👏🏾
Absolutely!
Next Luther reaction gotta be”Superstar/Until You Come Back To Me”, “ So Amazing” or “Wait For Love”! All 3 songs are absolutely wonderful!

When the choir comes in the song almost becomes orgasmic. Like it sends shivers all over me! Ugh i love Luther.
