U r such a talented man. I’ve been dreaming about doing such a project, and have just started, subbed to your channel and watching them all, slowly catching up. Thank you.
Honda put reliefs/pockets there for I believe this exact reason. The surfaces were undamaged. This was after trying to hit the exhaust boss on head, then base seperated. I even tried a piece of wood up the cylinder bore...no dice. There is nothing to pry against. So, the screwdriver was the easiest and no damage.
MatthewMCRepair I have a 1978 SuperSport with 17 K miles and was possibility doing a engine rebuild. You still building yours would like to meet up and see your progress. Liam
Guess what would happen if you pounded on the oil filter hole..... and broke it off!!?? Not the best way to separate the cases. I use my lead hammer and tap on the side several times. The cases will separate without breaking anything.

@@HTMR will i need a servuce manual also?
@@Blackked0ut Included when you buy the video.
@@HTMR I bought it top and bottom end video. I dont see the manual included.
@@Blackked0ut Thanks for the purchase! The manual/parts list is at the very bottom. You download it and unzip it.
So relieving to watch this. Awesome work!
How similar and helpful would the full video be in comparison to a DOHC 1980 CB750 engine?
Using a screwdriver to separate the head from the cylinders? Weren't you concerned about damaging the head-to-cylinder surface? Thanks.

@@HTMR Thanks for the detailed explanation.
This is a '77 or '78. I can tell because the earlier years had a two-bolt holder for the countershaft sprocket, instead of the single central bolt.
Yes 78'

I've read that Honda head bolts are known for stretching and u should always replace with new bolts. Do u know if this is true ?
No mention of that in the service manual.
Anyone know how do you remove that weird "bolt" in the middle of the clutch assembly before you take off the plates? It's missing from the video...
Where can I get the tool you are using to shock the bolts before trying to remove them? I have an 82 Katana 1000 that will be stripped soon.
Please reference a time in video.
If you mean the thing he's hitting with a hammer, it's an "impact driver." VERY handy on bikes.
Any plans for a vid like this for the dohc? You'd have at least 1 customer lined up already lol
Maybe one day.
Yes dohc
How much is the full vid?

Never rebuilt a motor. You think i can rebuild a 750 with no building experience?
Yes video is step by step.
I literally cant even get the coils to produce a spark right now. Im having major trouble with it. I suppose its bad dynatek ignition unit
What would be nice is a complete series where you tear the engine and gearbox down and vapor blast everything......then obviously reassemble it!
That is what I'm working on now.
Dude, are you located in the Chicago Area?
Yes I am.

I used a piece of wood and a light tap. The wood would splinter first over the boss breaking.
I forget that you work on all types of bikes and not just dirt bikes.
I work on all kinds of stuff. May do some some videos on my chevelle if people are interested.
Wtf did I get myself into 😥
I have a 9hr long rebuild video that walks you through it step by step: ua-cam.com/video/nBbyLoqQPaY/v-deo.html
