I know this sketch word for word but still never fail to laugh each time I watch it. It must have been great to live in the time when this was first released, no swearing no smutty coments. I still enjoy listening to Robb Wilton's " The day war broke out ", Nothing nowadays comes close to this. I hope youtube never removes this and Bobby Thompson " The Little Waster " Both are magic to listen too.
Why are some of the videos taken off? I remember watching the courtroom sketch with Arthur Askey. It was a great piece of comedy history. It's thanks to the people who put these videos on here, that we can all still enjoy them.
I had a friend who lived near me in The Cotwolds Rob Wilton was his uncle Les Wilton was my friends name the whole Wilton Family were in music Hall and Marie Wilton was a Famous singer of that period ROB Wilton they dont make them like that anymore
Reminds me a little of Sandy Powell and the Lost Policeman sketch. The recording Wilton made of this in 1931 is worth checking out (google Windyridge Cds) as its far droller and gains much from being so. Great to see the man in action though.
I wondered that too, I have a REX 78 record from about 1937 & Sandy Powell says it & sings a song called "Turned out Nice Again"-- different to the Formby song of the same name.. I wonder if it was an expression commonly used--
Agree with the last comment. Beautiful lines. Oh it's a pretty big fire. Should be by now. And DAVE32154 I will look at Bobby Thompson. Thanks for that.
Another great never be another.Got this clip but had to watch it again.Brilliant.

Q. Are you the Fire Brigade? A. Not all of it, some of it is in the yard.
I though "turned out nice again" was George Formby's catchphrase
reminds me of our heroic rescue services who can't even walk into 3ft of water to save a dying person because of rules, regs and elf & safety...
"Aks 'em to keep it going a bit."
Very funny. morrrrrrrrre.
brilliant!
What film does this clip came from?
I know where it is, no, don't tell me....Brilliant.
He used a George Formby quote "Turned out nice again" or did George steal it from him? Around 47 seconds in.

The Great Dame Margaret Rutherford as the woman reporting the fire
I believe it's Florence Palmer, Robb's wife..
Why?
Way ahead of his time.
