    As a professional organizer I tell EVERY CLIENT if they are redoing a kitchen.....DRAWERS DRAWERS DRAWES instead of cabinets on the bottom. Worth the extra expense.

    I enjoy your outlook on life. I'm 70 yrs. old and probably all my kids are older than you. But it's so great all that I've learned from you. Even though you are so much younger than me. My husband and I moved into a newer home about the same time that you all moved into yours. I have struggled with getting rid of 50 years of clutter. This home is way smaller than our last home. So I've really needed to get rid of a ton of stuff. Watching your show has really encouraged me to rethink what I really need and want to keep. It's caused me to reevaluate where my treasures are. Thank you for that. I'm excited to see your new kitchen. I pray that our Lord will bless you and your family in your new home. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.

    I feel your emotions while cleaning the kitchen. My husband and I bought our first home last year and we were both in our 40’s and there are days that I set back and think how thankful we are to be here.

    I love your thoughtfulness about reusing and donating cabinets that you can. Too many times I see cabinets being broken apart by a sledgehammer when a donation could help a family. Blessings to you and your family!

    • @NatalieBennett
      @NatalieBennett  2 роки тому

      Many times you’ll see people using sledgehammers because unfortunately a lot of cabinets are stick-built versus modular built. When they’re stick-built there’s literally no way to preserve them assembled together and much of the time heavy duty glue and hardware is used to build them together meaning they have to be taken apart piece by piece or destroyed in order to demo them!

    I really gravitate towards your advice. I hate my kitchen because it's very tiny. I am in a condo. My hubby and I can't afford to redo the kitchen. It's the size of most people's bathrooms. It's so tiny. I make it work. I make it function for my needs. I do the cooking in our house. For me, I have to have organization, function, and pretty all in one. I want to be happy. If I had no color in my life, I swear that my life would feel so sad. I am a very happy person and color makes me feel happy. I can appreciate what I have and will hold onto things for years because I take care of them. I also don't need much to be happy either. Thank you for reminding us of all that God has to offer. He really has helped me this past year. I look forward to seeing your new space. :)

    I feel the same way! My husband and I recently bought our first home, and I constantly just sit and look around in disbelief of how blessed we are to be able to buy a home and have a home we love. I am also constantly delcuttering! Haha I can’t stand having things I don’t use or can’t find. It’s such a relief having a more essential collection. But also have a few of the fun non essentials. 😄

    When me and my husband moved into our first house last year I felt the exact same way. Growing up we both never lived in a house...so it was so surreal. We worked so hard to get to where we are today. It definitely is an eye opener to see hard work pay off and to really be thankful for every phase you've been through in life cause it brought you to where you are now. 💕

    We start a complete gut and remodel of our kitchen in March. Our home was built in 1963 and my husband and his family moved here in 1967. The cabinets are all original to the house, and there have been several different counter top upgrades. The kitchen is out dated and not very functional. I am so excited, and I understand the imposter syndrome. This will elevate our home and we are blessed to be able to do this!

    Hi Natalie, I'm a Christian sahm. I'm new to minimalism. Started about a year ago when I started watching Sarah Therese. It definitely changed my life. I feel mentally more stable and feel that I have time now to spend with the Lord and my family. I recounted weekly and still have plenty to get rid of. I have gotten rid of half my kitchen and my cooking has gotten so much better. I love ninja! We have a ninja coffee maker, and ninja blender. They're used daily I our home. I stumbled upon your channel a month or so ago and binged so many. You're an inspiration and your videos are so calming. I watch them while I clean and my house has never been cleaner! Thanks for putting a part of your life in the spitfire for people like me who have been helped by the many series you do!

    I appreciate so much the humble and real nature of your videos. We live in a modest home with two small children and juggle all the conflicting emotions that come with such a life. We are overwhelmed and getting by, drowning in stress and joy, wishing we had more means to improve our home but so grateful for the roof over our heads and beauty surrounding. It’s nice to know one is not alone in this swirl of chaos and serenity.

    ♥️I love your heart, Natalie. The Lord has blessed your family, it’s hard to let go of the negative comments and judgement, but there will always be those who do that. We have been in ministry for over 30 years and we always were careful that we didn’t live out of our means and always helped others, personally and help take care of the churches needs as well, but there was always someone who had an opinion about us. (My husband also made good money with his business and we use that to take care of our needs and not become a burden to the church, even though, he was the senior pastor. Soooo looking forward to seeing your new beautiful kitchen! Praying blessing♥️ God Bless

    You deserve a new kitchen! Especially a functional safe kitchen. I appreciate your humble heart in everything you do. Thanks for the motivation to check in with what I really need but also leave room for joy and be peaceful with that. My husband and I bought a 1970s fixer upper and still have our functional and safe 1970s kitchen 7 years later. We had a harvest gold tub and toilet, stone sinks shaped like shells, and carpet underneath the bathroom sink that were priority number 1. Then we had two kids which slowed progress significantly. Looking forward to you making this house a home for you (however fast or slow).

    This is timely, I was literally going through my mugs today trying to figure out which ones to keep or let go of. There are really four that bring me joy even though I tend to reach for a certain one. One of our cabinets has the glass front doors & I just love looking at them even when not in use. 😁
    So I don’t need 12 mugs, but 4 is a good balance. 😉

    You are not alone in your emotions! Compared to now, I've felt that I have lived humbly, and I have had moments where I feel like I don't deserve the life I was given for today. However, it may be a bit of a gift, but it also was due to hard work for life's improvements. At the same time, when we make something new in replacement for something old, it is to help the next generation live a better life.

We have been waiting for a better time to remodel our kitchen based on the fact that contractors don’t have enough crew to deliver completion on reasonable time frame. I use my LC Dutch oven a lot, on stove and in oven. I have a small kitchen and keep only essentials. 2 tips to go a step further and also to help you! You can declutter the toaster and just use the oven for toast. Then you don't have the extra appliance that's a crumb magnet so-to-speak. Next, even if you are past the return window on Amazon, all you have to do is chat with an Amazon rep and typically they can still make an exception. Especially, if the product that you got was defective (or was the wrong one as in your case) they will credit your account and tell you not even to send the incorrect product back. This is a great way to save money and not have that money lost due to neglect of returning items which is super common, I tend to notice.
    Also, I have never aligned so much Biblically as you say, than when I severely reduced our inventory. At first, I had trust issues but know I know God will provide (even if!!) I donate a little bit more than what I think I should. He just keeps providing and we always have more than enough...it's amazing how that happens! Have fun in your new kitchen remodel process!

    My husband and I are both minimalist and actively work towards staying minimal. Lately we have accumulated more than I like because life happens 🤷. I love how you mention the glass mug vs tumbler because my husband is a new recovering alcoholic and he really enjoys drinking regular drinks out of liquor glasses. Yes, he could drink out of a regular glass but he says the others make him feel like his "normal" self.

    Cant wait to see the new kitchen come together. You can tell in this video the damage to all the stuff from the flood. And I am sure as you rip it up more damage and most likely mold in the dark places. Hopefully its not more damage then you originally thought.

      We've done the demo as of today and the damage was wayyyy worse in some areas and way better in other areas than we were thinking! Can't wait to share it all with you!

    I can't wait to see what you do with the kitchen after seeing your bathroom refresh!! 🤩 Our family is the opposite when it comes to cooking, but I'm just so excited for you!! You deserve this! God has given you a gift of balance and perspective, and I can't wait to see what you do with that because I know the physical house and the family home will come together beautifully! ❤️

    I’m so beyond excited for you and your sweet family! And I pray the transition goes well. I didn’t catch what your plans are for cooking and cleaning during the reno but I hope it all goes as smoothly and easily as possible!

    Thank you for sharing this journey with us: your point of view, the goal and progress toward it, and all the emotions that show up along the way. I was almost tearing up when you closed all the cabinets. What a fitting goodbye/see you later to them. ❤️ oh and thank you for clarifying about the allspice 😝

    So excited for you guys! It’s going to be so satisfying when it’s done 😊 We’re slowly working our way through our house doing some renovations and I love my home even more with each room we complete. ❤️

    I've been to Goodwill auctions where people have donated vacuums with full canisters. 😲 I am totally green with envy about your fridge. Everyone has to be comfortable with their lives. What works for one won't work for another.

    You can always use some of your old kitchen cabinets as storage in an out-of-the-way space, such as a storage room, utility room, garage, basement, laundry room, craft room, etc. Even the countertops.

    • @NatalieBennett
      @NatalieBennett  2 роки тому +2

      yes! I talked about that in this video. We're repurposing un-damaged cabinets for our garage kitchenette that we want to build. Unfortunately, the countertop is so warped from the water damage that it's not possible to reuse that.

    Hi Natalie, I am fairly new to your channel but I have to say thank you for sharing everything even the emotional part because we all feel emotional at times and not everything is perfect like we see on social media all the time. May all your dreams come true 💗

    You always have such inspiring videos. I love the cleaning/decluttering/get it all done, but it is definitely more than that. Listening to you talk about your vision for making your space a place to make amazing memories is really what it is all about. It warmed my heart hearing your words!!

    I can't wait to see your new kitchen, and yes you really do deserve it, you both work hard for what you have so don't beat yourself up over it. I really love your new home and I can't wait to see what you do with it and the grounds are amazing especially when the snow was falling it was magical. Good luck with your new kitchen, it will be hard work but so worth it once it's finished xx

    My favorite kitchen item is our wok. We cook Indian food and stir-fry dinners in it mostly, but almost anything can be made in it. My second favorite is the crock-pot, I love to cook soups all day!
