I would put floor to ceiling built-in bookshelves in that "homeschool" corner for a library with some comfy chairs by the windows. It's such a beautiful space. Whatever you choose to do will be wonderful.
I think my favorite parts of the video were the hand sweeping of crumbs off the dining table and the chairs through the window. It shows you're really keeping it real and it's why I keep watching 💜
Cleaning helps me feel in control too.

When I make my to do list I always write "play" somewhere on the list. Because it should be a priority and even if I need the reminder to do it, at least my kids know that was the intention.

You're so lucky to have such a big kitchen, dining, living area with all that natural light! One thing I saw that may help with the transom window cleaning is putting a microfiber cloth on a swiffer mop pole so you don't have to climb up!

Yes! I was watching her with the plants and thinking they wouldn't survive our cats. We have an aloe and a snake plant we've managed to keep alive by some miracle (up high in a window). We have 4 additional plants now (3 are gifts so only temporary) and we're trying to get them to safely coexist with the meows.

You could put the couch fully on the rug, even have the rug popping out of the back a little. It really defines a space in an open concept home and makes it feel cozy.
A long narrow table (similar to a console table) behind the sofa facing the front door would look really great I think ☺️

My new thing when I do house work (I always spend way to long in the kitchen too)
I only give myself 30 minutes in each room, and if I’m done before the timer goes off, I go back to the other rooms if they have more left to be done 😄 it works, and I find myself going faster to beat the clock. Sometimes I do shorter, like 15 minutes in each room if I’ve got less time.

This time of year spring fever is so real. In Minnesota we are still deep in winter but spring is right around the corner. We can not wait to get outside more, being closer to nature always makes me feel more grounded

My Grandma use to reset in the garden too. She collected roses, and even when her mobility became difficult she would lay in a spot and weed between her roses. She ended up with over 100 roses. But she told me when i was a young mum that when she was in her busy mum season of 7 kids, her way to de stress was to get her threeprong weird puller and sit on the lawn and pull weeds. Thanks for reminding me of my grandmother this morning. Hi from Australia.

That homeschool nook is begging to be a cozy sitting reading cuddle up with coffee spot. We are a homeschooling family too and no having a noook like that would be a dream. A cozy rug maybe some floor pillows so the kids could lay on the floor with their school books 😍

We have lots of friends and family from Ukraine. We also believe in an all powerful God who is bigger than all of this and can intervene on our behalf where humans can only do so much. Your prayers will mean so much!!! There have already been many testimonies from soldiers and refugees of God’s hand of protection.
you could make a super cute window bench in that area and add some bean bags or "stuffie" chairs - make it a calming/casual seating corner. and a comfy chair for yourself to have coffee with laptop or book while they read as well or do something at the computer
If your using the dining table for schoolwork,the homeschool are with some comfy chairs,coffee table, beanbag and shelves for books and computer area would be gorgeous.

Love the home school space potential. When adding the kitchen counter that looks into that room, I would have an overhang and carry it around along the wall shared with the kitchen so that you can put two or three stools along a study counter that ends in a built in bookcase at the right hand side of the window.. Along under the window would have built in storage that doubles as a window seat. And another built in book case on the left side of the window. Under the study counter you can have a false wall to contain all the wires and USB powerboard etc.

If you're near a zoo, spring is a wonderful time to visit and see all the new babies. I live near the top Fort Worth Zoo and it is always the #1 place I take people who come to visit me. Love it!!

If you get the real pampas grass, you can spray it with hairspray to prevent it from shedding all over the place. For the jute rug, we had one at our entryway, it was beautiful, but the dirt and sand would go through the small cracks and it was always a mess underneath the rug
I had pampas grass in my first home. Be alert to the leaves. Sliced fingers!
I second the jute rug! We have one and I have to shake it out often and clean underneath due to all the grit. It looks nice though!
@@rebekahkerr1723 I think it could work great in a low traffics area, but definitely not the entryway! I had mine in my laundry room at one point and loved it!
And perhaps that's not too bad, because then it's at least gathered (as opposed to spread out :) ) dirt! Easier to clean up that way? :) Either way, all the best!
You should get a squishy loveseat or a couple of comfy chairs to put in the breakfast nook to make a little homeschool reading space. 🙂
A Cozy small sofa like a love seat would look great in the school room area with a lamp and table. A nice reading area
Great that you're talking about Ukraine. I live in Poland and we feel like Putler (putin + hitler - spelling intentional) hurts our brothers and sisters. It's huge a tragedy. I'm glad that people from my country help them so much (and that the world help as well and don't leave them alone). Ukrainians are wonderful, honest, proud and hard-working people. They are so strong and brave. I hope this dreadful war will end up soon. Слава Україні!
I love ZZ plants! I have a normal one and a raven one (start out lime and turn nearly black as they mature) and they grow very well and don't require much care. If you have a south-facing window, it will absolutely take off this spring and summer!

I’m a politics junkie but sometimes you do just have to step away from it all. Love your videos Natalie. Your home is absolutely beautiful! I’m on a journey this year to be much more intentional after a hard, emotionally draining year last year and I’m proud to say I’ve made strides in just the first couple of months. Getting ready to start gathering supplies to sprout seeds and try my hand at indoor gardening this coming month! You were part of my inspiration for minimalism and being more present in my life and marriage and my kids’ lives so thank you 🙏🏻❤️

I've found smaller bags of them at walmart! I usually toss the bag into a food processor and then into the freezer so I don't need to chop garlic anytime I wanna use it

I understand if you dont like the pattern but big rugs are good! You really could go big in your space, the entire sofa could easily sit on top of a rug and it would look great.

Natalie just a suggestion for your "good table" get a glass top for it and then the kids can't damage it and way easier to clean.

And I will add that I get off of Facebook for Lent each year. Walking away from social media for 40 days is a great way for me to step away and not be so immersed in things that could drag me down. Hopefully spend more time in prayer as well. Happy Lent!
