I had diagnosed a patient who is 58 years old with nearly 5 month pregnancy when i was an intern. The woman was coming to the er for months and nobody did a pregnancy test. I did because in the book it says between 7 and 77 years old there is a possibility. She cried because her daughter were trying for a baby for 13 years. And my insensitive senior suggested that she can give baby to her daughter 😮
@@SF7PAKISTAN It’s insensitive if the mother or parents of the child have not expressed any desire to give the child away. You can’t just say “ Oh hey, why don’t you give up your baby to this person/couple who are having difficulty conceiving?” To someone who’s just squeezed a baby out of their cooch. Just because it was unexpected doesn’t mean it’s unwanted! I've had a few patients in their fifties who thought they were just in menopause and didn't find out they were pregnant until pretty far into the pregnancy
I remember a news from years ago where a woman in her 40s found out she was pregnant the whole time on the day she gave birth. And it was her first child.
I remember being 23 years old and being super judgemental of women who were still trying to have children at this age and now I’m 38 and I haven’t had children yet, nor married yet - and all I could do was smile at this and ask God to forgive me for being so judgemental. Hopefully my own situation is going to change within the next year. I will never begrudge women wanting to become mothers at whatever age especially if they’ve never had children before.
I remember thinking my parents were “old parents” and they had me at 31(mom) and 36(dad). I had my first at 39 because I wasn’t married until 36 and we went through fertility hurdles. I am now 42 wondering if I want to give her a sibling… Life sometimes gives us alternate timelines and we can’t always do a lot about it.
So glad you realized that life doesn’t always work the way we thought it would or how judgmental other women can be… I say this as I always wanted children but never had any bfs or met anyone I wanted to date more than a couple times… Fast forward Im 35/36 met my LH … had 1st child at 37, 2 miscarriages, then second at 42!! YEP!! Aint over til its Over… Oh and FU to all those people who comment on the age you will be when your Child is graduating HS… I always well tell that to my friend whose Husband DIED when their kids were 5 and 3… oh… and he was only 33!!
I had my two kids in my mid/late thirties as a single mother by choice. Couldn’t find “the one” and took matters into my own hands. Still looking for him, but I’m happy to have my children and have no regrets.
@@kriscarv5708 I’ve got two friends in the same situation as me - both of them are single and a little older than me. I am not exactly single and hopefully this is it, so fingers crossed. But they have both decided to be single mothers by choice. My parents can relate to this couple. My mom was 40 while my dad was nearly 54 when I was born. My mom went to the doctor thinking she was going through menopause but the doctor said "the only thing wrong with you honey is your pregnant!" I was even more surprising considering all my siblings are ivf babies and it took them 5 years after some miscarriages for mom to have my eldest sibling through ivf. I found out later my mom was actually a little mad because it ruined all of her plans she made at that time😂. Mom NEVER likes her plans being changed. so good on the husband for being so supportive and not caring about the plans they made to tend to his wife and new baby! You got to love every surprise baby, they come with a great story to tell!🤣
Same with me my oldest sister was married when was born my dad strutted around like a cockerel in a chicken coup in his 40s still getting my mum pregnant as my brother and sisters were older they had more time for me I once asked my mum why i was here? They both died within 6 months of each other I nursed my Dad and then my Mum and was with them when they passed my mum told me before she died that's why I was there it was left to me even though the older two took early retirement at the end of the day It was left to me did my duty and id do it again my Conscience is clear unfortunately, I've just been diagnosed with breast cancer and my sister also strange how things work out.
Lol, yeah, my mom was 38, two months shy of 39 when I was born, and my dad was 42. There's a good age gap between my brothers and I of 8.5 and 6 years. My parents knew I was coming from the get-go though. My mom had her head in the toilet the next morning, and her morning sickness got worse with each successive pregnancy. Personally, I think she was on her way to developing hg had my parents had any more children, especially since she had zero doubt in her mind the next morning.
I can also say that having a niece or nephew being older then their aunt or uncle due to age difference in siblings like in this clip is very true My grandfather was the youngest of 9 and there was a 25 year age difference between his oldest sister and him. His sister had a 8 week old daughter sleeping down the hall when she and her sister who was number 2 in birth order was helping their mother (my great grandmother who was 40 at the time) give birth to my grandfather,
@sassbrat I don’t usually comment but I’m confused by the math on this one… your great grandmother gave birth to your grandfather (the youngest of 9) at 40, 25 years after the rest of the siblings. The maths would mean your great grandma had the 8 other of your grandfathers siblings before she was 15?
Happened to me too. My oldest nephew is exactly 4 months older than me, and we were like siblings until he had to move away but we've always been like accomplicea every time we see each other and he jokingly calls me "Tía" when he wants to be pampered 😅
I also know a family where the mother had children in her early 20s and then another one at 45 years old. Her grandchild was born when her daughter was 20, 2 years before his aunt
Similar situation with my friend. Her parents had all of her siblings except for her younger brother 20 years before her. She was an ‘oops’ baby when they were in their 40’s. I’ve seen pictures of her siblings and her sister looks old enough to be her aunt.
I have a nephew who is 6 months older than me. I was literally an aunt before I was born. There are photos of me and him as babies together. We went to the sane high school for a bit, some students thought we were cousins but I never corrected them because I was not going to explain how we are aunt and nephew 😂😂
My classmate was born when his mom was 50 and we would joke how he was the youngest uncle in our grade since his sister was 25 years older and his nephew was one year younger than him.
They are called change of life babies for a reason. One guy at work got called by his wife bc she went to the ER for bad stomach pains. So he left calls back 3 hrs later screaming hes a dad. She didnt know she was pregnant and they were having issues. Had another friend think she was going through menopause only to find out she was 5 months pregnant and her oldest daughter had had her grandbaby just 4 months before. It was chaotic that year 😂
I love everything about this. The way she´s almost making fun of the situation, when she tells her granddaughter to meet her aunt. Like nothing is gonna phase her, once she knows that the baby is okay.
Realistically, they would have paged an obstetrician or midwife to come deliver the baby and have a pediatrician or neonatologist to come check the baby over. It's not like the ER is completely separate from the rest of the hospital, and there's a reason other specialties are on call so they can come in an emergency for their specialty. Plus obstetricians and midwives are around the clock anyway, it's not as if babies know the time of day.
@@dietotaku but she’s had two successful births before so and I’m speaking as somebody who has a lot of experience with women shall we say an older variety as one of the first responders I can tell you from knowing people who were in there almost at 50s when they had their kids and it was number one was number four and the other one it was number nine or 10 and they weren’t expecting to have a child because they’ve been menopause and I remember asking how long have you been in menopause because it’s possible to get pregnant within the first 2 to 3 years of going into menopause… Bones had babies super quick. It depends on like I said jeans and previous births generally although my friend gave birth to her son and her sister who could’ve been her mother, she’s the youngest of 29 children not all of who made it to maturity i.e. 21 years of age. Her sister was so certain that there was plenty of time to wait for the ambulance to get there and forgot about their heritage. They are half native Americans one of the first people in Canada. Although they were not living in Canada at the time of the kid question… Yeah, these things happen
@dietotaku They said in the video that she had been having pain from the night before... not precipitous labour, just unrecognized, because no one was expecting a woman that age to be pregnant.
My daughter works in L&D and they're chronically short-staffed. If they're managing critical cases, the ER doc would certainly handle an uncomplicated delivery. 😊
Had my 8th baby on Dec 31st, my grandson on April 1st and another daughter ( found out I was pregnant again on my 8 week check up) and another baby on Dec 29th when I went in to see my grandson the nurse asked me " weren't you just here ?" With a weird look on her face. I was already starting to show. I was 40 and 41 respectively.
No, you went through your pregnancy with monthly bleeding. It’s not a period, though. Period blood is the uterine lining shedding. You can’t go through that and remain pregnant. It’s possible to have bleeding throughout a pregnancy, but not a menstrual cycle.
I became pregnant at 38. My daughter's father was 52 when she was born. She weighed 2lbs 8oz. She has the same birthday as one of her brother's. They are 20yrs apart. She has a niece that is eleven yrs older than her. My daughter just turned 19 on July 30th.
My grandfather had an uncle the same age as he was. His mother spread out her kids, and when his oldest sister started having babies his mother was still bearing kids.
The positive attitude of this couple is really refreshing. The way they treat each other, the situation, and afterword's. Also, the mom wasn't like "oh, no! not again!" she was more so worried how her eating sushi and having wine impacted the baby. These seem like really healthy folks.
My grandmother had two at 40 and 41. My aunt is 10 years older than me and one year older than my sister! I remember watching this episode! That's how I became a Chicago Med fan. Such a good show.

My Grandmother actually had my father at 55, in 1970. She died at 108 just this year. It happens. Strange to think that my father became a grandfather and still wasn't (though he was close) half as old as her when she died. She lived on her own until she was 105 and lived to see great-great grand kids come into the world. Sometimes real life just throws you a curve ball, I guess. Everyone saying how the whole family just accepted this crazy situation- the husband was supportive, the son rolled with it like no problem, and the lady was shocked but nonchalantly embraced the fact she had a baby. But it’s like-… what else are you supposed to do?
When my mom and I first saw this episode she said "that is the reason I had a complete hysterectomy before you were a year old." And later I looked it up even when women first enter menopause there's a 20% chance they can still unintentionally get pregnant with hormone therapy

I don't think it's that insensitive, I know of a few people who have raised their siblings like this
@@SF7PAKISTAN It’s insensitive if the mother or parents of the child have not expressed any desire to give the child away. You can’t just say “ Oh hey, why don’t you give up your baby to this person/couple who are having difficulty conceiving?” To someone who’s just squeezed a baby out of their cooch. Just because it was unexpected doesn’t mean it’s unwanted! The scenarios you speak of were probably of people who either were unable to bring up their child or had planned from the beginning to give their child to a relative
I love that she just accepted like oh well guess I’m a mom again 😂
Imagine that getting ready for your 30 year anniversary and gave birth to a unexpected baby 😂
Edited: I'm happy with 1k likes thank you 😊
This is a perfect example of that one show I think something about like I didn't know I was pregnant
It's almost like an episode from a show.
@@sadiecheney4366I love watching mammadrjones react to those lol
She's already had a baby so I'm surprised that she didn't realize that she was pregnant this time. I get that she had menopause but if it quacks like a duck then check to see if it's duck before you start looking for answers elsewhere
It’s crazy 😂
Im 45 and that would be my worst nightmare! 😂
My friends are the same age, so until they actually got accidentally pregnant despite precautions and their youngest babies were the most loved and easiest to take care of with the help of their older siblings!
Oddly….at 21yo same bahahah
Omg same…. 45 and I would DIE
😂😂😂😂 facts!!! lol
52. I'd lose my mind! LOL
That's one brave woman.
And she is a funny lady. That child will have a good life.
@RoseHunt-li7df She's probably gping to lose her parents very early in life, but at least she has a biiiig brother and niece to look out for her.
@@harringt100 she born into a good family who will love and continue to take care of her. No questions asked. That's a real blessing for all.
I've had a few patients in their fifties who thought they were just in menopause and didn't find out they were pregnant until pretty far into the pregnancy
Yikes! How many? How did they usually react?
I had my number 12 child at 48 I am very blessed, very good young man.
12!!!!!!!
I remember a news from years ago where a woman in her 40s found out she was pregnant the whole time on the day she gave birth. And it was her first child.
I have watched this scene a few times... this couple is so cool and funky! They embrasse this unusual and strange situation with such an energy...
love the look on the nurses face when the doctor says thats not urine
@@kristyd91 fingers crossed, I am finally on the right path now, hopefully this is it
So glad you realized that life doesn’t always work the way we thought it would or how judgmental other women can be…
I say this as I always wanted children but never had any bfs or met anyone I wanted to date more than a couple times…
Fast forward Im 35/36 met my LH … had 1st child at 37, 2 miscarriages, then second at 42!! YEP!! Aint over til its Over…
Oh and FU to all those people who comment on the age you will be when your Child is graduating HS… I always well tell that to my friend whose Husband DIED when their kids were 5 and 3… oh… and he was only 33!!
If by 2025, I am not on the path that I think I am actually embarking on at this point in time - then I will revisit the single mother by choice scenario but I think my luck has changed and I’ll get to have a great husband first and then children
Wow what a miracle ❤❤
Pregnant at 40 is pretty normal. I am 38, pregnant with the fifth, my mom had the ninth baby when she was 44. No IvF
You sure did! 😂
Miracle surprise babies are always a blessing!😊
Lol, yeah, my mom was 38, two months shy of 39 when I was born, and my dad was 42. There's a good age gap between my brothers and I of 8.5 and 6 years. My parents knew I was coming from the get-go though. My mom had her head in the toilet the next morning, and her morning sickness got worse with each successive pregnancy. Personally, I think she was on her way to developing hg had my parents had any more children, especially since she had zero doubt in her mind the next morning.
Girly took it like a champ lmao. Her banter with the husband made me giggle
Honestly the usual drama from these clips I loved the wholesome chaos in this one
Me too. It was probably one of the funniest I’ve seen from this show.
I love this couple…Funny, confused, and wholesome 😂
"Come here and meet your... aunt" lol
i love that part
The really heartwarming part is the parents don't resent having another baby or even consider giving her up, they love her unconditionally.
My grandmother had my aunt at 49 years old. Her first grand daughter came 10 years and 10 days later.
I guess this is why they still ask my 55 year old mother if there’s any chance she could be pregnant and she always says “oh bless you for asking.”
It was chaotic that year 😂
😂😂😂
I like how the husband was trying to recall " when it took place!" He mentioned a cabin around the 4th of July! 😊
I am literally seen this happen. The woman was 52 years old and hadn’t had a period in six months and just assumed that she was in menopause.🤣.
Curtain wide axx open so everyone can experience the perfect view for delivery. 😂😂
Thank you! I noticed that too. I kept yelling to my screen "shut the curtain!".
😄
I was surprised the doctors did not call for a neonatologist and obgyn.and overall behaved very calm, that is very unrealistic.
@user-bl3tu5us6b it’s a tv show of course it’s not going to be realistic.
Whennyou are in labor, you don't care if it's a thousand people in the room with dynamite. You don't care, you want that child out!!!!
The way the dad just tries to math while in shock lol
I love everything about this. The way she´s almost making fun of the situation, when she tells her granddaughter to meet her aunt. Like nothing is gonna phase her, once she knows that the baby is okay.
This actually does happen! I call it a “Medical Miracle” because of how rare it is to have a kid at a late age.
well, nobody has a kid *after* menopause, that's impossible. she was on HRT which basically prevented menopause, hence why she was still fertile.
Why don’t more women take HRT? Do women want to have menopause? Other than it costing money.
@@JamaicanRainThere are drawbacks to using HRT. Not every woman is a candidate.
Its NOT that rare…
There was something common BEFORE birth control where many women would have “menopausal babies”
@@dietotakuHrt doesn't prevent menopause
Realistically, they would have paged an obstetrician or midwife to come deliver the baby and have a pediatrician or neonatologist to come check the baby over. It's not like the ER is completely separate from the rest of the hospital, and there's a reason other specialties are on call so they can come in an emergency for their specialty. Plus obstetricians and midwives are around the clock anyway, it's not as if babies know the time of day.
supposedly the on-call OB was still "5 minutes away" but that would have been an impossibly precipitous labor, especially for a woman of her age.
Yes! I totally agree 💯 but I think they were all in shock and just went with the flow 😂
WOW!!!! Look at God!!!! Continued blessings to you and your family.
I had a child later in life, she"s a 15 year old aunt.
My youngest brother was a three years old uncle, we're seven childreen, I'm the oldest.
16 & 18 years behind my siblings. I was an aunt at 13. Mom had not expected to have a child at 40 either
My uncle and aunt were both older than their full blooded uncle.😂😂
My daughter is 33 years old. I went through the entire pregnancy with monthly periods and a size 8. She is the love of my life 💕
No, you went through your pregnancy with monthly bleeding. It’s not a period, though. Period blood is the uterine lining shedding. You can’t go through that and remain pregnant. It’s possible to have bleeding throughout a pregnancy, but not a menstrual cycle.
My father has nieces and nephews around his age. My grandma had my father at 45. And he was number 13 . His older sisters spoiled him.
This couple is so wholesome!!!
the husband and wife play off each other really well. very good chemistry
I laughed when the husband tried to figure out when she got pregnant. Literally, the wife doesn't care about that, lol.
The positive attitude of this couple is really refreshing. The way they treat each other, the situation, and afterword's. Also, the mom wasn't like "oh, no! not again!" she was more so worried how her eating sushi and having wine impacted the baby. These seem like really healthy folks.
Love the look on the doctors face when he is realizing that her water broke lol
I guess Sam Witwickey can finally have a sibling.
I had the same thought. Her combination of shock, disbelief and joy was so impressive.
They’re so funny omg, great casting for the couple!
I'm just shouting CLOSE THE CURTAIN
I’m glad that the husband was so supportive lol
My grandmother had two at 40 and 41. My aunt is 10 years older than me and one year older than my sister! I remember watching this episode! That's how I became a Chicago Med fan. Such a good show.
"Our Grandaughter just got out of diapers, looks like I'm on my way into them" Yes. Just not in the way you think.
This was such a well written and acted scene that it is 100% believable. Not far fetched at all.
My husband's aunt gave birth to twins at 55. Unplanned but she did know she was pregnant fairly early on.
My husband and I have been trying for baby #2 for a While now, and I was beginning to lose hope that it would ever happen. I'll be 40 on Wednesday. It breaks my heart because our 5 year old son has been asking for a baby brother or sister. I definitely believe in miracles, but month after month of not getting pregnant is just so draining.
Hello, I felt compelled to reply to you. There is a 5 year age gap between my boys. I had 5 miscarriages in all, 1 before my first born and 4 after. I know its draining but please don't lose hope. God always has a plan. Sending you my best ❤
this happened to my aunt years ago twice, we still can't believe & both bbies are adults 😂😂
Always know that stranger things have happened.
Oh How blessed they are❤❤❤
At her age, she should consider herself blessed have a healthy baby. She’s one lucky woman.
I love this scene. I can watch this over and over again and never get bored.
Happy 30th anniversary! 😂
😂
When I saw the actress I immediately thought of the Sam Witwicky’s mother in transformers 😅
That's because it is the same actress, Julie White.
THANK YOU. I've been staring at this for five minutes trying to figure out what I had seen her in before.
Anybody else getting a Father of the Bride II vibe?
Yup! Love that movie!
OMG I'm soon to be 55 myself and this would the most horrifyingly miraculous thing ever in my life. I had my last one over 18 years ago.....and my husband had the snip snip around then too!
I'm 55. I cannot imagine having a baby now.
That's so crazy!!!! I honestly believe that too and yes the actress was such a great actress
‘Cramps are unbearable!’
‘So is her gas.’
‘HEY!’
You can tell they’ve been married for a long time. 😂
I know a couple who has a baby when she was in her 50s. His siblings are in their twenties.
I am 53 and the hubs is 62. Mirena don't fail me now. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
My favorite part is when her water brakes and she says, “Sorry…”
This was brilliantly acted and awesome!!!!!!! Loved this episode! Her whole ? "what the hel????oh...ok...." and "dad" - okay "we need diapers, and etc etc and rebook vacay in like...18 yrs" lol AWESOME!
I’m 45 with grown children. If I had to start over now someone would have to literally pick me up off the ground
No it doesn't. You get right back in to it ❤ I'm 48, my oldest is 21, my second is 18 and my youngest is 2. I thought i was going into menopause, but life had a big sweet and healthy surprise for us.
55 yr old woman took giving birth very well. I'm 40, and anytime after now if I find myself in labor, I'd be screaming YOU FKN KIDDING ME!??!! the whole time lol
''aunt''😭😭😭😭
Babies are blessings, no matter when they come! Even though this is a TV, I got all the feels!!! Wonderful!
YES!!!!!!
This is a cryptic pregnancy
There called change of life babies
What does that mean?
Women start going into menopause about 48 years old babies born through until end of menopause are change of life babies . Also depends when menopause ends. Oldest woman to have a baby naturally is 59
The BEST ACTRESS for this part❤
Women can still get pregnant at that age though it's rare.. it's actually..a bit traumatic to know this way..
in this case I think the hormone therapy for her Osteoporosis was major factor
Imagine meeting your aunt & it’s a newborn 😂😂
Man this baby must have been strong as an ox to survive, yoga, HRT, alcohol, and whatever various things the mother did on menopause.
Everyone saying how the whole family just accepted this crazy situation- the husband was supportive, the son rolled with it like no problem, and the lady was shocked but nonchalantly embraced the fact she had a baby. But it’s like-… what else are you supposed to do?
The estrogen treatment she talks about starting in an earlier part of the episode is likely what caused an ovulation after menopause.
When my mom and I first saw this episode she said "that is the reason I had a complete hysterectomy before you were a year old." And later I looked it up even when women first enter menopause there's a 20% chance they can still unintentionally get pregnant with hormone therapy
