Such a perfect comparison video! Hats off to you :) I've fully modded my GG with the BennVenn IPS and can not recommend it enough! Gives every single game so much more playbility! Also went for a CleanJuice battery pack/USB-C install too, as well as a clear black shell. It's an absolute beauty :D

Hi there. Very, very good and thorough review but, it does missed 1 thing (imo): The price ! The final (as in total) price for many of us in europe is what defines our choices. For me, i would go with a retrokai (magic screen) or aliexpress, anytime, even with all the "cons" you found. Knowing that, would you change your top 4 places ? Ty.
Which screen is most like the original, or can be adjusted to look like the original? I'm not looking for crystal clear HD display, but something as close to the original as possible.
There is also an obscure Japanese kit out there, that supports different screens (Macho Nacho's Tito covered it in one of his videos). Not that it fared well against other kits 😅 I've seen it mentioned here and there that all those screens other than BennVenn's have noticable tearing. Also, it seems there is an emergence of 640x480 screen kits for GG recently - McWill's v4, BennVenn's GGHD, RetroSix's CleanScreen v2 (not 100% sure about that one) and some newcomer HISPEEDIDO (at least that's how it's branded on Aliexpress, not much info on it elsewhere). Given that 640x480 screen allows x2 integer scaling in SMS mode and x3/x4:3 integer scaling in GG mode, i sure hope someone does comparison for them.
Game gear screens can afford to be a little blurry. The old game gear screen was actually the right resolution because the games are low resolution. The modern screens are too high def and the graphics don’t look properly scaled on any of the new screens I’ve seen. Can anyone suggest a screen that has the same resolution as the old screen, almost, but with modern refresh rate and proper lighting??
From 153 to 333 lux is a big difference. What is the cause of the difference in brightness of the screens ? is it due to the use of better and brighter screens or is it due to the controller and its programming in putting more or less brightness in the output ?
The BennVenn is about as close as you get being that it is an IPS display. It is not OLED though. Just OLED-like picture quality in comparison to the other displays. Great comment.
But ya I can only find lag info on the ips screens for the nintendo handhelds. There is nothing that I have seen documenting lag on new game gear screens
i didnt notice a delay with any of the screens compared to stock. Also, the sound fx would be off if that were the case. (the sound board is it's own separate entity hosted by the mainboard)

@@yeolemillinial8295 admittedly, i cant detect 30ms delay when i game so there is probably some truth there. Not sure how i could reliably test within those thresholds without being a speed runner. thanks for sharing!

Bennvenn really cant be beat at the time of recording, but the clean screen is pretty darn efficient!

mcwill, magic, and clean screen use the same tft. clean and magic screen cut out the big power line in their mods, while mcwill utilizes it.
