This is just a preview of my imminent go to dehydrated foods pantry, after processing the foods go into long term storage which i may share on a different video.
Welcome to Anas food and lifestyle, my name is Ana and I'm a prepper based in UK. I'm a prepper by nature so over the years I have learned a lot of cooking and food preservation skills. On my channel I cover everything you need to know about Average person prepping, including cooking, dehydrating, preserving and growing, amongst many other helpful videos to help you on your prepping journey.

Wow! great stash. I label everything as I'm bound to forget. Looking forward to seeing the next vid. Thanks Ana
I do too, I use sharpie on the lid or side 😊
A great stock. It didn't look a mess at all. Good to hear about your experiwnces. I like snacking on the dried foods - carrot, peas, mushrooms etc. They are nice and filling.
I use small vacuum seal bags for small amounts, i checked my dehydrated mixed veg from 3 years back and still looking good.
Ana, you need to shake your jars once in awhile til they stop sticking to keep them separated and it helps anything that is not quite dry will in the jar. i just dehydrated 2 lbs of them and they did really good. Try it again.
Would love to see your long time storage tour
You have some great dehydrated foods there.. well done!😉
Thank you 😊
Only have a cheap £20 round plastic dehydrator and the grid in the trays are a bit big so we got the square reusable mesh oven chip liner trays from Home Bargains and cut them to fit the dehydrator trays . No more sweetcorn / onion / carrots falling down to the bottom .
Fab tip👍
Oh gosh, celery is one of my fav dehydrated foods. Onion, carrot abd celery and you have the base for a veg stock..
Dried citrus peels are excellent fire lighters
Thats given me more ideas!
Personally, I don't like cooked peas, but I found that I like dehydrated peas! I also like sweet corn dehydrated. I'm not crazy about dehydrated green beans, but they do make a nice powder. I have a lot of onions, peppers, cabbage, celery and spinach dehydrated, plus some miscellaneous veggies, and quite a bot of mixed (formerly frozen) vegetables. Broccoli has become every expensive here, or I would do more. PLEASE do a show on dehydrating apples.
That is a lot of jars, glad that I'm not the only one with multiples of half filled jars 🙂
I powder kale and spinach, then add it into the bread mix and it gives you green bread - great for getting extra greens into fussy kids.
Also the apple rings that you had in the blue plastic tub, I sprinkle cinnamon onto them before I dry them and they make really moreish snacks.
PS have you done a video on the snack bars that you make ?
I've been working on my small jars into big jars! Finding the right containers of consistent shape so they are easily stored is a problem.
I'm stocking up for the election ! Only a short time away now ! Thanks for the video Ana ! See you next time ❤
I love to see what other people have in their prepping cupboards, some very useful tips in this. I haven't used my dehydrator since I purchased it - I didn't like the texture of the vegetables when re-hydrated, as you said the green beans were not worth doing again. Good in terms of space-saving and if you are lucky and buy them reduced in bulk. I think I will get my dehydrator out again and perhaps try coconut and beetroot.
Instead of chucking those manky peas straight into the bin, what I would do is take them with me on my next wild walk. She seem to live somewhere similar to me. I toss things like that into the undergrowth. If it grows, great! It it doesn't, it will just rot into the ground and nourish it more. I always keep my cherry stones for the same reason. A cherry tree may not grow and produce in my life, but hopefully, someone in the future will benefit.
Excellent variety, Ana!💗 Enjoy & Cheers! 🍷 🍷🎉
Cheers!! White wine tonight for me 🥂x
Some of those dry vegetables may not look yummy, but if one is hungry.... Even if you don't eat them yourself, you can give them to someone who is starving...or take a jar to the trade place that will probably be set up.
Absolutely!! But if you hungry you will eat anything so it is a win win, share or exchange 😁
I will have to try the beetroot Ana. I put it in juices and smoothies but it all comes a bit too together and then there is none.
I so love dehydrating. I do onion greens, leeks, chives, mushrooms, celery, mixed greens from whatever doesnt get used from greens crops, different herbs and nettles, marigold pettals, comfrey and chamomile.
My worry is akways how long to keep Ana? I sadly throw out what is left after a year.
Hi Ana i have just got a dehydrator and I’m looking forward to trying out different things,i was quite intrigued by the tomato powder and the fact it can be used to make tomato sauce do you think you could show us how to do this thanks
Ofcourse 😕
Haha I have been going through my stuff today and re drying some powders. So good to know I am not the only one that gets in a mess and if I can shut the door I can put it off for later. I had only had one jar with broad beans that were manky. I get through loads of the moisture absorbers.
🤣glad someone can relate 😁
I have installed a multifuel stove. I now encourage junk mail ,it's all fuel.
🤣🤣very good idea
@@AnasFoodLifestyle Hi Ana .Mark the bowler hat farmer has just posted a new video and I have to agree with him the shtf scenario is close.
Its quite an investment, but have you considered a freeze dryer?
Yes I did but the initial outlay of 4/6k is far too much plus the energy it costs to run, for £4000/6000£ I can buy enough food to last 5/10 years . I appreciate not the same thing but they are just far too much money for an average person 🙁
Id gind youre corn into powder
Sadly Screwtube have stopped me sharing your channel
Oh dear, surely I’m not that controversial 🫤
@@AnasFoodLifestyle no it's me who is controversial I was sharing your channel on local PHS health groups & assembly first time Telegram has locked me out X is also locked up & Facebook to intermittently 😬
Has anyone used an air fryer to dehydrate?
I’m currently dehydrating strawberries in mine. Looking and tasting good so far. 6 hours at 60c
@@Boudi-ca Thanks, 👍🏼 mine has a dehydration setting but I was a bit sceptical on whether it would be effective or not.
