It looks like ML has pushed his skills to another level! His FH is more precise and powerful, and more consistent while his torso is moving. His BH seems to have got stronger than ever. And especially he now used BH flip to return the service more often to initiate a BH attack. Needless to say, he is the last player anyone would like to play against in a tournament. BTW, ML arguably has the most beautiful forms among all players. In this sense he is more like an artist creating a piece of art than a player trying to win the points. I deeply enjoys the beauty as presented by his bodily motions.
haiyingz yet FAN zhendong or whatever hes name is shoulda won the semi vs ma long. he had him under controll but fan zhendong got nervous in the ending and failed. i predict FAN as new worldchampion and # 1 ranking in table tennis
Ok. Why do some of you seem surprised?? This is what Ma Long does. From 2009 until now, statistically he has been the most dominant player on the pro tour. He's been ranked either 1 or 2 in the world during that entire period, never dropping below 2. He has a winning record versus all his Chinese compatriots. This is "Ma Long" people ;)
"UNBELIEVABLE!" was all I heard from commentary, but he is unbelievably correct about this Chinese domination. All 4 semi-finalist spots plus some more... seeing the extra-terrestrial table tennis they are playing between each other, you just have to wonder what else you haven't seen during training. That's why it's all "UNBELIEVABLE" in all these tournaments...
However, you shouldn't forget that a lot of players which would have had good chances of advancing to the semi-finals didn't participate. Timo Boll, e.g., was busy playing the finals of the German table tennis league on Sunday. And Ovtcharov was also missing from the China Open.
I was told many years ago that you cannot hit a backhand with a penhold grip and that explained why penhold bats had rubber on one side only. Great to see the Xu Xin backhand block, hit, lob and topspin. Also really wonderful footwork.
It's not that you cannot hit a backhand with it. It's that it's EXTREMELY difficult to. That's why some players like Ryu Seung Min & Ma Lin didn't bother working on or improving it. But players like Wang Hao & Xu Xin worked on theirs & have improved dramatically. But honestly, the best penhold player of all times is Wang Hao. His backhand was godly from the beginning.
Frankly speaking,Ma Long still dominates Xu Xin. Xu Xin is strong but Ma Long is a hero of Xu Xin and The Chinese team tt captain, the leader of Chinese tt. Xu Xin is not real when he challenges Ma Long but Wang Hao can beat Ma in a big pro tour.
Beautiful match played by two wonderfully talented and well mannered professionals. A joy to watch. I do appreciate the absence of "Cho!" and other theatrics. Just skillful, exciting and imaginative play at the highest level by two of the worlds' top ten players.
Xu Xin's improvement is stunning! He actually he has a very consistent backhand now, and most importantly he has developed his close-to-the-table element! He can now stick close to the table and block Ma Long instead of constantly being forced back like before. His playing style used to be very forehand-dependent but not anymore. His development is tremendous and extremely noticeable. I'm sure he'll be able to overtake Ma Long someday if he keeps on improving at this pace. Unfortunately, it appears he's been training his backhand so much his forehand has deteriorated slightly haha. Kudos to Ma Long, so strong and stable to pull of the 4-1 win even with Xu Xin's marked improvement. I'm actually certain that Ma Long has improved a lot himself too - that the Ma Long of early 2014 would have difficulty beating the current Xu Xin.
Yup, I think so, when both Ma long and Xu Xin coaches were the same, Xu Xin was world no. 1 for a year. But after changing the caches Xu Xin dropped to world no. 3
I'm not a pro, but why doesn't Long hit it lightly at 4:05 and make Xu run for it? Wouldn't that have helped? Are you not allowed to hit it lightly and to the side of the table?
Players do thy sometime but it's very difficult to do well. Often times, when a player hits a short shot in that situation, the other player runs up and hits a powerful shot back, this losing the advantage they have in the point. So it's not always the best move, but sometimes It works
İzlediğim en güzel maçlardan biriydi.Xu xin forehand vuruşları mükemmeldi ama backhand vuruşu ve sol tarafı zayıf.Ma long bunu bildiği için hep ordan saldırdı.
It was absolutely amazing to see these matches live. The whole stadium was feeling the excitement!
Indeed
consistency, prediction, precision, footwork, power and spirit. china has it all.

Agreed.

except Wanh Hao
lateesjp He has dropped below 2. Do not state something false and pretend as if it were a fact.
Against Wang Hao? 11 wins and 12 defeats in the international stages
ITTF where are the rest of the round semis or quarters not just the final!
Ma Long is at the best performance at this time. His FH, BH, blocking are improved so much in any angle. He should be the King of TT.

It seems that Ma Long had learnt how to play against Xu Xin after losing in the final of GRAND FINALS.
Xu Xin's backhand has improved dramatically.
*****
wtf
wow, you're very pretty Athena! :)
I think that is it!!! Table tennis Cannot go any further! They have done everything those chinese guys.
Awesome Match !
Highest quality table tennis I ever saw !!!!

Yup, Wang Backhand was legendary
Amazing point 3:58, Xu Xin is certainly the most entertaining player to watch and play.
Wang Hao has the best win to lose ratio aganist ma long in the world. He has even defeated MA in big tournament even in his 30 like wttc 2013,2011
THE BEST!
amazing 3:57
wow ma long is a real leading champion. what a player.
Beautiful match played by two wonderfully talented and well mannered professionals. A joy to watch. I do appreciate the absence of "Cho!" and other theatrics. Just skillful, exciting and imaginative play at the highest level by two of the worlds' top ten players.
Très bon moment ...
Ma Long is too perfect
+Akrahm Joltevskoy A white man is WHITE. Therefore by definition he's not perfect and Ma Long will eventually come along and crush him??
Xu Xin's improvement is stunning! He actually he has a very consistent backhand now, and most importantly he has developed his close-to-the-table element! New kind of serve from Ma Long?
I thought so. I never saw him with this serve style.
Your comment is 6 years old, but if you reply that would be awesome. Lol
@@emersonsitorus1136 I am replying hehe. I don't remember anymore have to watch video again
What's wrong with the last point in the first match? The ball touched the edge? Xu Xin did a great control on that
For the first time in forever, we actually see Xu Xin consistently giving high balls for anyone to smash
Ma Long at his best performance, Xu Xin not eager enough to win this game...
Xu Xin's new coach has done wonders for him.
漂亮到不可思議的相持球
FINAL indeed!
no one can beat ma long
Ma Long at his BEST :)
Amazing tournament
xu xin doesnt seem determined and aggressive as before......
many unforced errors since the match with Gao Ning
maybe changed coaches?
+Raymond Chau Yes, I couldn't smile after losing either.
Yup, I think so, when both Ma long and Xu Xin coaches were the same, Xu Xin was world no. 1 for a year. But after changing the caches Xu Xin dropped to world no. 3
ittf plz.. better viewing angles.. and fire sharara thanks and goodbye
All of the fun starts at 3:58
i totally agree
I'm not a pro, but why doesn't Long hit it lightly at 4:05 and make Xu run for it? Wouldn't that have helped? Are you not allowed to hit it lightly and to the side of the table?
He might run forward fast enough and loop him back if ma long made the ball a bit too high
Players do thy sometime but it's very difficult to do well.

***** because hurricane 3 is not enough.but now he don't do it because he backhand side is hurricane 3 too.
The commentator's voice reminds me of Seto Kiba from yu gi oh.
3:58 unbeliveble xu xin~
If he play topspin forehand step 2 (top ball) not play topspin forehand step 3 (under ball) he will win
Ma long bunu bildiği için hep ordan saldırdı.
Блин, я тоже так хочу.
Great video but fucking time spoilering the score;(
fan zhendong should in final.
3:57
1:50 what the?!?!?!
