So much respect for the fact that Adam learned Chinese to be closer to the game he loves and the players at its top echelon. I'm a language guy (as my own channel implies) but as I know from the little Mandarin I've picked up, it isn't an easy language to learn for an English speaker.

Ok Adam you've outdone yourself. Just getting to hangout with Mr. Entertainment and Chinese Xupertalent would have an honour. I've played competitive table tennis for 20 years for Geelong and nationally so when the opportunity came up for the Platinum events at Geelong I jumped at the chance. Both years(should have been 3)surpassed my expectation of star standing line ups in an Australian Open event. Had the vest seats. Watched the best players as everyone one who was anyone turned up and gave it everything. Whated players train at night. Got into the Chinese sectioned training hall where the glue-up, warm-up and coached. Unfortunately didn't find out about the visitors that came to Geelongs main table tennis centre otherwise I would have been happy to pop in and say hi. Anyway I know you came down to Geelong and performed your commentary professionally. Xu Xin vs Patrick Franziska semi final was a heart stopper. Great video. Keep them coming.
    Regards,
    Robin Paterson.

@@firelordplayz Nah bro, I disagree. Both very different games. A rubber padding of any sort is essential to a table tennis racquet. Without that it is as you said a literal frying pan! I’d definitely give Xu Xin the benefit of doubt for this.

@@neilpaliwal9102 I understand the last game he lost, but I am talking about the game he lost playing with a typical, standard recreational racquet. That one shocked me and he as a very experienced professional definitely should have won that. I mean, seriously, can you imagine Djokovic losing to someone just because he played with a normal $100 racquet from a store? Or Messi losing to someone just because he played with a regular soccer ball, wearing regular shoes? I can not. It seems all the training and all the talent in the world means very little in TT if you don't have the best racquet and that's very surprising to say the least.

The the most spectacular backhand shot (by _anyone_ ) I ever saw was an emergency smash against Waldner by penholder Wang Zengyi. JO had made a slam-dunk, point-over, put-away forehand to Wang's far left. It would be almost unreturnable, even for a shakehand lob attempt.
Wang instantly flipped to shakehand, bounding in huge strides almost to the barriers, and blasted a full-stroke shakehand kill shot that left Waldner dumbfounded. He gave an understated thumbs up for it, in frank admiration.
At the time I just sat there, not even understanding _what_ had happened, and I still don't understand how he could have pulled it off. It was a Xuperman² one-off event that will never be repeated.

The reason I started “pen holding” in table tennis was watching by pure luck a match between Ma Lin and Kenta Matsudaira and of course I have been attracted by the spectacle Ma Lin offered in that match. I left with no remorse😊 the shake hand grip and trade it for penhold and I do not regret that a bit, even if that meant to “ factory reset my knowledge” 😊. I pushed hard work and taught myself the RPB technique after watching countless hours of another legend at work, Wang Hao😊
I solemnly promise I will not miss a second from the clip if Adam will challenge the God of ghost serve.
Anyway, I feel so happy that Xu Xin opened his business, I am pretty sure that there in that very place he will inspire many generations to come. It will be enough for a kid to see him demonstrating some of those mad skills and he or she will want on the spot to become a future champ.

Xuper video Adam! Can't wait to see the next one with Xuperman as well as the next prof. USA league matches with your commentating. By the way, since you asked about my name: the "shuswp" part is based on the name of the river I grew up beside, the Shuswap river, which itself derives from the name of the local native Indian tribe/band. There is also a touristy Shuswap lake in the same region with five different arms, one of them called Salmon Arm (where they actually have a tiny little TT club, and even there you are a well-known entity, haha). I officially invite you to visit the Vancouver Table Tennis Club (3925 Fraser St, Vancouver) where I play on your next or first ever trip here. One of our members, Olivia Huang, recently (in October) won the under 13 yrs girl's gold medal at the WTT Youth Contender Mosquera 2023. I think this is a first for a Canadian at such a major international competition. Another member, Tom, plays excellent snakes, like you. Would love see a snake fight between the 2. Yet another member, Laurent (originally from France) conducted an hour long video interview (available on his website) with Timo Boll last year, in which he invites Boll to come for a visit to Vancouver.
