Anyone interested in a class B rent before you buy. My wife got caught up in the "gotta have a B" on UA-cam. The quality brands (hint hint) are ok for 1 or 2 people for day trips or long weekends but beyond that your limited. Theres very little room for any additional gear storage which for us was the deal breaker. We rented a Travato from a private renter for 1 week and she realized within a few days that it was too small and very uncomfortable overall.

I think the Travatos are the best. Especially the back corner trapezoid bed model. Out of all the class B vans I now think this is my favorite version.
A few years ago I almost bought the Travato 59GL (no generator, all lithium batteries) even though I much prefer sliding windows (MUCH stealthier) and a cassette toilet (you can empty them anywhere), but the final blow was when I looked under the van. The battery system was 5" from the ground, I figured that a rock could take out my $20,000 batteries way to easily.
We can honestly say, we have not had any of our lithium model Travato customers take our a battery yet (knock on wood), but that could be a valid concern!
@@MillersRV Interesting. I see other Class B vans bottom out all the time (usually Sprinter vans) just trying to do a simple U turn at White Tank campground (Joshua Tree). And they have much better clearance than the Travato.

Our van doesn't have an awning attached to the side. My wife saw a video a couple years ago that featured an awning that wraps around the van 270º. It's called a batwing. It takes under 5 minutes to set up and take down. My wife has to use a short step ladder due to the high roof, and I use an upside down 5 gallon bucket. That's the only negative, but the ladder and bucket come in handy for a lot of things, so having them is great. Open back doors are fully covered and the side sliding door is 3/4 covered.

We hate to hear when customers aren't using their RV's. We recommend using them as often as you can, even going on shorter trips to take advantage of the bathroom.
It is lovely. The industry wouldn't listen to rvers for years, so rvers started building their own rv vans. Now the industry tapped in and prices are ridiculous.
Winnebago actually is one of the best manufacturers and not only listening but seeking out input from end users across different demographics. A lot of the features over the last 10 years have been customer driven and Winnebago continues to try and balance exciting new features and taking the time to prove that the construction/technology of those features.
@@MillersRV That good to hear! We have rented a few new Winnebago's c class the past few years. A lot of staples or fabric pulling off from the dinettes. Wish they could use some more durable marine options in all models.
No it does not. Most of our motorhomes don't come with a spare. They Travato (and other RAM chassis) have a pump that can refill the tire or solution that seals and fills the tire.

That could work but you will need to tow a small trailer, our Bushwhacker or Bushwhacker Plus would be a good option. Travato tow capacity 2,650 lbs and our 15 ft Bushwhacker Plus weighs right at 2,000 lbs while the smaller Bushwhacker units are even less.
Without modification that is correct. This unit is designed primarily for people who travel and not camp at campgrounds but there are options to allow a hose to be hooked up and the doors closed.
The do not have the child seat tethers that lock onto new carseats but you can use the forward facing seat with the 3 point seatbelt to secure a carseat.
Yes, my friend Purchase one it has the logical lithium battery system and it will not run the air conditioner lol and I have problems with the Electrical system and it has been in the shop the whole time Since he has owned it
The KL and GL models have the lithium and we have had excellent service out of that product. If it will not run the AC on lithium and your dealer cannot solve the problem try reaching out to Winnebago directly. If you are near Louisiana give us a call and we can take a look at it, 225-275-2940
“In the shop” - words that will keep me from buying a Class B. I don’t want to be 1000 miles from home when that baby needs to go in the shop and I’m stuck who knows where. I’d rather buy a pro master and build it out myself.
I would recommend considering the Winnebago Revel. It is a great vehicle for people looking to get off road. We also have a few other 4X4 models, please reach out to learn more - sales@millersrv.com, or call/text 225-275-2940
This unit costs more than my 40' 4slide than my Monaco coach. There is no comparison to how little you get for the money in a van. The sticker on my coach when new $236,000, bill of sale shows sales price was $177,000 included washer/dryer, two heat pumps, 8KW On an diesel genset. Maybe someday these vans will sell for what they're worth.
While I do understand what you are saying. Compare that $236,000 to the sticker price on a comparable class A today... Big difference. There are a lot of factors that go in to the pricing of B vans. You have to have similar technology to the big motorhomes, but make it much smaller. The tanks are also smaller so you have to have more efficient appliances. Chassis upgrades/increase in prices also play a huge role in the prices of b vans. And of course the demand does factor in to the price some as well. Just to name a few factors. Thanks for the feedback.

The 59K is a traditional setup with a generator. So the standard alternator does charge the house batteries (lead-acid). The 59KL would have the lithium package with the second alternator to charge the lithium system.

That is certainly an option. There are also some modifications that can be done if you plan on camping at campgrounds regularly and want to have that functionality.
I'm answering this question multiple times. There are many mods but the most popular one is getting a short hose with a 90 degree elbow. Then the end can be installed outside the closed doors. They put the fresh water tank inside to make it more of a 4 season type van for winter use.
Hi from Australia 🇦🇺 I just read your comment and thought you would like to look at my camp set up, Australian locations such as world heritage listed Fraser Island and camp cook ups. 🍴😋 Cheers and travel safely Out There Touring
Yea the freshwater tank is inside so you have to fill it by opening the back door. Some complaints about that but of course you can modify it with a short hose going outside. The tank is inside to make it a 4 season van so it won't freeze.

I own one. The sliding door is real tight and has to be slammed hard to close. We now enter the van though the back for simplicity and being a standard door. I bought a step hitch mount to climb in easily.
@@LCLand The KL is nice, but we chose to buy the non-lithium model as we don't use AC much (or the microwave) as the weather is northern CA doesn't usually require AC. It does come with a 1000-watt pure AC inverter with two AGM batteries that can run anything else. It can be upgraded to lithium in the future with a simple modification. The lithium model does run about 25 K more too.

Yes, from the factory you would have to leave it open hooked up to city water. The reason why is that the vast majority of the target market aren't using the units at campgrounds. Also it is possible to add a way to hook up and leave the door open if this is the unit you are looking and want to use at campgrounds.
@@MillersRV Thanks for the quick response. If the target market is not for use at campgrounds, then could you please explain what the target market is? Thanks!

@@MillersRV it does but sadly the joke was on me. I had a similar class B with the rear bath. The back up light blew out in the 4 th week. No access to the bulb from the outside. Good luck
I love the van ,but I hate a lot of vans are making small space to stand shower . The dressser storage are taking too much space for shower restroom . Too much storage ,too much furnitures kitchens will suck too much gas .The bed both sides should be bunk bed or either side . The kitchen table are too big taking too much space . I love more solar on top . Every interiors should build bathroom shower bigger ,more bleeping beds , less windows save electrics, save everything. I don't understand why they give the wrong price for the car. $59 thousand even just a dry car, without any RV furniture and options will cost more. Such RVs are priced at $100/110, which is still realistic, but not 59.

Due to the space of overhead cabinets in a B of this Floorplan it doesn't allow for an overhead microwave. There are some units with a larger kitchen area that have space, but this model it just isn't an option.

If you have a few minutes, reach out to us call/text 225-275-2940 or email sales@millersrv.com. That being said, there are definite differences but both are on the same chassis so same drive/handling. The Travato has way more features, is available with full electric lithium package or generator and certainly costs more. The Solis gives a price point we haven't seen in a while and is also available in an even more scaled down unit without a shower. I live in Colorado and I see vans on the road but not comparative to C and A Tall folks these are not great, I'm 6'2 and felt a bit cloafobic. I agree the prices are too high. Yes you might have more driving flexibility but if you can't move around in it then a class c works better for me and less expensive.
A class C is still a great option. Here at Miller's RV, our focus is NOT on what unit we want to sell, but INSTEAD we focus on what unit fits your individual needs best. For some it will be a C and for others a B, A or towable.

I want to see you sit (with clothes on please) on the toilet to show how much room you have in the bathroom. I’m somewhat disabled and can’t stand straight up, kind of need to move forward and up.
Yes. You would need some special equipment - heated water hose for example. I would also consider air skirts if you are going to be stationary. For heat I would consider 2 things. First would be the addition of an electric fan with a heater if you are staying at campgrounds. This would cut down on the LP gas usage. The second would be to add an "extend a stay" which allows you to hook up an exterior LP tank to give you increased capacity for your heater and other LP appliances.
@@MillersRV How about not using a rv park but just parking in various Quiet locations. What types of issues can i exspect to run into! I admit being a NEWBIE to Rv Life but i just can see paying apt rent anymore as it continually goes up!!!!
I like the rv, but I did see some other camper that had the fold out bed up front and the dining across from it, with big tv over driver seat for viewing, and cooking and bath closer to back of rv, and I found that set up to be more attractive. But otherwise, I like this, not sure if I like diesel tho, bc too expensive.
What technology? No lithium but an archaic Onan generator. Pretty much useless for boondocking unless you want to really annoy your neighbors or any wildlife in the area. Fairly cheap interior build. Priced insanely high.

@@Hard_Car_Life You can put together a much less expensive version of this. Just like most any product, there are going to be flashier versions but a less expensive version can get you most of the way there. I have a van that I camp in that is 1/4 - 1/3 the cost of this. This is ChatGPT's definition... pretty accurate! A Class B RV, also known as a camper van, is a compact, versatile motorhome built on a van chassis. Unlike larger RVs, Class B models are easier to drive and park, making them ideal for both urban and rural travel. Despite their smaller size, they often come equipped with essential amenities such as a kitchenette, a small bathroom, and a sleeping area. Class B RVs are popular among solo travelers or couples who value mobility and efficiency without sacrificing comfort.

I have a 2021 and lots of problems. Took it to the factory to get fixed and left with more problems from untrained technicians and a big bill. Would never buy another Winnebago ever again. 80 percent of the people in the waiting area having work done when I was there for 5 days had same story same results. Very bad factory service 👎
I am so sorry to hear this. That is definitely not the normal experience my customers have had over the last 30 years with Winnebago products. I don't have a lot of experience with the factory service, we normally take care of all customer issues at our dealership, but the few times I have had a customer go there it was a good experience. I hope you can get the issues resolved and enjoy your unit.

We hear ya. A lot of Travato customers initially say they are going to mod the van so that they can hook water up with the door closed, but very few actually do. Most folks find that its really not that bad once you're out there using it.
Having used RVs with cassette toilets and holding tanks, I prefer the cassette system. Yes, you have to service it more often, but you can empty it anywhere and for free.

I could just imagine having an awning extending over the back doors would be an ideal addition. Maybe in future models.
Nice idea!

I love you used the word plethora ❤
Haha! I think it was the only appropriate word to use
I hope one of these days supply catches up with demand and dealers wont be able to gouge everyone and make a 50k markup on every sale
We had a customer yesterday that bought from a dealership that sold a standard trailer over MSRP! That is not the type of dealership we are. We are very aggressive on prices and would love to work with you. You can see all of our in stock inventory here - please note that there is a minimum price we are allowed to post by Winnebago but we are often able to do better than that - millersrv.com/inventory/?keyword=travato&quickSearch=true

Happening presently.
My friend has one, 2017 and used only 3x (12k miles). So much money for a little of pleasure.
Is there a spare tire? I would consider leaving the music out. Great video.
No spare tire. Only comes with a pump. You'll have to pay for that separately with an expensive mounting system too.
No it does not. Most of our motorhomes don't come with a spare. They Travato (and other RAM chassis) have a pump that can refill the tire or solution that seals and fills the tire.
@@MillersRV we just had a blowout from a pothole. I wouldn’t want to travel without a spare. Is there no space for one?

I need this to live in live in pull one
That could work but you will need to tow a small trailer, our Bushwhacker or Bushwhacker Plus would be a good option. Travato tow capacity 2,650 lbs and our 15 ft Bushwhacker Plus weighs right at 2,000 lbs while the smaller Bushwhacker units are even less.
So if I hook to city water I can’t close and lock up?
Without modification that is correct. This unit is designed primarily for people who travel and not camp at campgrounds but there are options to allow a hose to be hooked up and the doors closed.
Does this model have a rear camera?
Yes it does!
Do the vans have seatbelts for carseats
The do not have the child seat tethers that lock onto new carseats but you can use the forward facing seat with the 3 point seatbelt to secure a carseat.
You didn't mention the toilet at all - what kind is it, cassette, blank tank, what?
It has a black tank in the Travato.
From the thumbnail image I thought you were Alice from "The Brady Bunch."
Funny, I can actually see that. Can't wait to change his name under his picture on our team wall.
I like cold weather, and love getting AWAY from crowds. The ProMaster not having 4x4 drive is a deal breaker. Nice van otherwise! ❤
There was a Vinnie Travato in the old neighborhood....collector for the mob, used to break kneecaps.
I LOL'd on that one. I'll ask Guido at the factory where they came up with the name.
Cam, Is it as hard to get a RAM dealer to service this chassis under warranty as it is to get a Ford dealer to service their Transit chassis?
We have had more success getting Ram's serviced than Ford's but not sure this is true in every market.
Did you mention MPG, WHY NOT ?
This is a big range but 18-22 is posted. I've personally seen more 16-18 range. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the way I drive!

Great video and information. Great RV Van...😊
Thank, we love the Travato!
Why is there a gap in the first storage area above the tv? And what is storage like below the kitchen area?
It is actually just a shadow. I will try to attach a picture to this reply but have never done that and not sure it will let me. When you open the door the left 8-10 inches is closed off to hold the tv wiring etc.
There are 2 drawers below the microwave. I couldn't add the pictures but if you email me at jeff@millersrv.com I can send the pictures of the overhead cabinet I mentioned above and the kitchen storage.

wonder if it has an extra alternator to charge the batteries and what kind o batteries and how many?
The 59K is a traditional setup with a generator. So the standard alternator does charge the house batteries (lead-acid).
The 59KL would have the lithium package with the second alternator to charge the lithium system.

I wonder if you can run your city water hose out of the back window. Leaving the doors open is not ideal.

@@philc.9280 Thanks, but how do you get the short hose outside of the van body if the door is closed?
I wondered what he meant when he said you had to keep the door open to hook up to city water? Are you supposed to unhook just to close the door?
Great!
Yea the freshwater tank is inside so you have to fill it by opening the back door. Some complaints about that but of course you can modify it with a short hose going outside. The tank is inside to make it a 4 season van so it won't freeze.

wish it came with a standard rv door vs sliding door.
Unfortunately not something the body manufacturers (Ram in this case) will allow to be changed by the RV up fitter (Winnebago).
I own one. The sliding door is real tight and has to be slammed hard to close. We now enter the van though the back for simplicity and being a standard door. I bought a step hitch mount to climb in easily.
@@philc.9280 great idea. Looking to buy one to travel to work and stay 2 nights each week. I want the kL for boondocking

Excellent review, Impressive van
Thanks, we love the Winnebago B-vans!
Do you need to keep the back door open when hooked up to city water? If so, what do you do when it rains? Thanks.
Thanks!

The "59K" floorplan designation confuses a lot of people, I guess they never considered people reading it as a price. That music is so annoying
Yes
Sorry about that, it is louder than it should be and I've shared this with our production team.
I don't understand why they give the wrong price for the car. $59 thousand even just a dry car, without any RV furniture and options will cost more. Such RVs are priced at $100/110, which is still realistic, but not 59.
It is the floorplan or model designation. Winnebago makes a 59G and a 59K but it doesn't have anything to do with price.

Million dollar question? Single older guy who wants to LIVE IN this! In michigan with cold winters, is this Possible??
There are definitely some great floorplans out there - with Winnebago you get great floorplans and excellent design and engineering!
The sofas in rv’s look like they’re cement hard. No detail. How about tufting to add interest and comfort?
That's a pretty broad statement. Some are very comfortable, some are less comfortable.
What technology? No lithium but an archaic Onan generator. Pretty much useless for boondocking unless you want to really annoy your neighbors or any wildlife in the area. Fairly cheap interior build. Priced insanely high.
It's available with or without the lithium package. The lithium will have an "L" after the model (ie 59KL or 59GL).

What is class B RV?
This is ChatGPT's definition... pretty accurate!
A Class B RV, also known as a camper van, is a compact, versatile motorhome built on a van chassis. Unlike larger RVs, Class B models are easier to drive and park, making them ideal for both urban and rural travel. Despite their smaller size, they often come equipped with essential amenities such as a kitchenette, a small bathroom, and a sleeping area. Class B RVs are popular among solo travelers or couples who value mobility and efficiency without sacrificing comfort.

$59k sounds like a good deal

I really liked it until you said the door has to be open for the city water hookup. No way.
The cassette toilet is a really nice feature on some vans. Have you seen the Winnebago Solis product? It has the cassette system.
Something not right here. This rep. was hunch over the entire van. I suppose the required height for this van was not stated at the beginning of this presentation.
Not sure why it appeared that way. The interior height is 6'3"
