That's because the western media has a disturbing obsession with destruction and violence. If there is a scene of devastation whether in America or in the ME, they'll usually be right there with cameras to capture their "shocking" news reports and footage, talking about how horrible it is and the "unbelievable tragedy and heartbreak". People rebuilding their lives and achieving prosperity is apparently boring to journalists.

Growing up in Iran, I learned Kurdish, Turkish, and Farsi in a family with Turkish and Kurdish aunts and uncles. I have always loved the language, the people, the food and the culture. We dance to Kurdish music in every wedding and loved the Kurdish weddings. Some of my closest friends were Kurdish. Watching this video, the vibe is so similar to my hometown in Iran. Would love to pay a visit to Kurdistan in my next trip to Iran.

Yes, this is Kurdistan. They own the Iraqi central government billions as they took 17% of the oil revenues but didn’t give their share in return as according to the constitution which they agreed to. They’re amazing people that know how to climb at the expense of their suffering neighbors that they also blame for the actions of saddam (who also oppressed Iraqis) and other things that they played no part in. Great people, really. Yup...

I don't know ... also Kurds aren’t originally from that part of the Middle East. They’re a mixture of People’s and replaced the native Assyrians. So it is the Kurds that have taken advantage of others.
There’s a very good reason why people have an issue with Kurds, but Kurds are too in denial to confront the facts. It honestly reminds me of the Roma gypsies of Eastern Europe.

This in no way offensive to anybody, why are people on UA-cam always so pissed off. Have a coffee and chill tf out man. Its easy to be rude on UA-cam, if u ever met me in real life, you wouldn't have the guts to say it to my face. Take your moods elsewhere, we happy people here.

A city and country I'll never experience firsthand, but I get to do so through your lens. Reminded me so much of my numerous treks to Istanbul which was often visited when I worked/lived in Kazakhstan. I thought I was in Istanbul for a moment as the markets are always the same for color, smells, sights, and sounds. You have a real gift for attracting the locals to you for chats and photos; the locals of Istanbul were the same. Thank you again for filming places I'll never get to explore in this time of COVID.

@@joehoang4826 I was in the US Army and I got deployed over there during the war Operation Iraqi Freedom War back in 2003. I was in the initial push. While I was there my unit let me spend 3 days in Erbil for some R&R. My battle buddy and I had an armed Kurdish Peshmerga soldiers securing us around town anytime that we left the hotel. Buckeyeboi Oh wow, this stuff is always crazy to hear. I can only imagine what memories you must have. Were you also stationed later on in Iraq? How do Iraqis compare to the Kurds? I had no idea that the Kurdish area was this safe. I was under the impression that it had been left to rot in a way and that troops had long pulled out.

@@joehoang4826 no I was never stationed there later on. Technically Kurds are Iraqis but they have their own culture, traditions, and way of life. However they live in the Northern part of Iraq which they call Kurdistan. Unfortunately the UN won't recognize them as their own separate country though. I think the Iraqi people as a whole are beautiful people, they were just oppressed by dictatorships for a very long time.
