We track prices of the components which make pallets (#3/utility and #4/Economy grade dimension lumber). If you go to my website and fill out the form for a sample, you can see what those are and what the prices are this week.
Kéta, thanks for your report on the US Housing Market. Every time you talk about housing starts I think about the young people I know who are just getting started in life, are living in apartments, and are trying to figure it all out. I think more of them should be watching your presentations. I always appreciate your insights and thoughts. Thanks for Sharing!
Good job with this. I use this channel as one piece of the puzzle along with the CMI in AZ and ORAAT’s financial news for a larger picture of where the economy is going 👍
Lumber prices are a VERY leading indicator. When the US housing market crashed in Sept 2006, lumber prices responded immediately, that same week. Madison’s data comes out every week for that week, not like others which come out once a month for the previous month (so a 6 week lag). Lumber price data is on-time.
Are you no longer going to post on UA-cam?
Do you have a way of tracking pallet lumber prices?

Does anyone know why she no longer posts on UA-cam?
Things okay in 2024

Thanks for the report, have a great weekend.
Are lumber prices a leading or lagging indicator?
