    After announcing the Sony FX6 in September already, Sony just released the full details, specs and pricing of its new small Cinema Line camera. Be sure to check out our hands-on review too. The FX6 is a dual native ISO camera which is likely using the a7S III sensor, it can shoot up to 120 fps in 4K and 240 fps in HD (both full sensor readout), built-in electronic variable ND, S-Cinetone & S-log 3 and much more.

    I'm really glad you questioned him on the xlr placement and the FX9 comparison. Most people wouldn't have the gusto to be so upfront like that.

      Thank you, we cut straight to the core of the problems in our interviews.

    I'm so glad you asked about the audio, that to me to a deal breaker not having at very least a 3.5mm input without the handle, hopefully we'll get a mark 2 version haha

    Instead of complaining that your 1+ year old camera doesn't do technologically what the newest one does, you should have asked when the FX9 mark 2 with the new Bionz XR will be released. Would be more constructive, I think it is great that a company doesn't hold back tech for non-tech reasons, yay for Sony!

      So you seriously think they would suddenly change their strategy and talk about unreleased products?
      Well I see ups and downs to both strategies, the downside being that you piss off professional owner-operators who won't continue to invest in your products in the worst case. This has happened to RED too when they dropped prices overnight. Only the consumer wants "cheaper, cheaper, cheaper", when using your own cameras earn you a living, it will have a direct impact on your freelance income when an expensive product is suddenly undercut in price. As a professional filmmaker, there is little incentive to have all the cameras "too cheap", even if people don't like to hear it. An unpopular opinion maybe, but that's exactly the strategy that has made ARRI the most successful high-end camera brand in the world: NEVER undercut your own prices, and never lower them (only discontinue something eventually) when you have a popular product. My personal 2 cents. Nino

      They will not undercut the price of the FX9-II, it should in theory have the same/better processor as the FX6, meaning it should be possible to reach the same fps and other features with a 6K (or even 8K) sensor giving even better images. And of course he will not respond to that question, but he also didn't really respond to the complaint the old one is worse technically. So from my point of view it would be more constructive to show him interest in coming products. I see your point, and maybe it is a bad strategy, but I guess once the successor of the FX9 is out, many buyers of the FX6 will lust for it and potentially buy it - making it a strategy for the long term? Also limiting the cameras this year when all manufacturers come out with amazing hardware would not work as people would simply switch to e.g. Canon and Panasonic when they cripple the FX6 to be behind the FX9.

    Can Sony explain why this cam cannot do touch track focusing when A7siii can? It makes no sense.
    Adding a 3.5mm jack for better ext mic will not make the cam much bigger. Its a shame that is excluded.

    The broadcast world needs NDI via Ethernet. That would be a great feature

    Great interview, thanks!
    2 things I’d love to see on cameras:
    - 3 xlr mic inputs, for typically stereo ambient sound + 1 mono directional mic for dialogues, etc.
    - audio only recording. I find myself shooting images and sound just for the sake of recording interesting sounds where I could just record sound in camera.
    Am I the only one?

    Alrighty FX9 owners got wrek'd. 120fps FF4k and raw output w/o the $2500 sh@t brick... f@#k me. 😶👌

    Great video, Do you know if is possible to genlock two of these cameras?
    Maybe with and an external generator or an external recorder such a Shogun 7?
    Thanks

    Is there end trigger for slow motion? I used this feature a lot on the Fs5? If not is there any Cache recording capabilities?

    Will you guys ever do a dynamic range test of the Fx6 with noise-reduction turned off?

      Yes. With the production version and external recorder.

    Do you think the USB input could be used as a mic input with a future firmware update? At least a 1/4in mic input would have been nice.

    8:19 I wonder what customers actually complained about the placement of xlrs on the FS5? I would much rather have that configuration than both on the handle. "Confusing"? How so?

    • @CineD
      @CineD  3 роки тому +1

      I agree! Can't understand why you wouldn't want that, however I can see how some sound guys complained ;-)

    • @zachhunter5311
      @zachhunter5311 3 роки тому

      My guess is Sony probably misinterpreted the grievances. People were probably confused or annoyed that you would lose one of the XLR inputs if you took the handle off the FS5 camera, so they requested that they be "put together". Unfortunately what they probably meant was "put both of them together on the camera body", but Sony took that as "just put them together" and they put them both on the handle instead of putting them both on the body, making the issue even worse 🤦‍♂️
