RANDOM VIDEOS whoa friend you wrote a tome here and I will read and respond to it respectfully but right off the bat can I just say how frustrating it is that every time someone expresses a view different from someone else’s on how to handle a problem the first assumption always seems to be that the person with the differing view must not experience this problem themselves? Like people act like because I think differently about how to manage anxiety this means that I myself don’t deal with anxiety - and they’re wrong for assuming that. I know what anxiety is because I’ve struggled with it first hand for my entire life. So slow your roll.

Xanax was a godsend for my anxiety disorder that lasted almost 4 years. I took it less than my prescribed limits, and never had issues with dependency. With leaving toxic situations, dropping alcohol, and engaging in vitamins & fitness, I was able to recover well. Now my prescription just sits in the cabinet, and I don't even need it anymore. It stopped my anxiety attacks 100% of the time, unless I had too much food in my stomach. I had a very responsible doctor who worked with me to focus on lifestyle changes while being treated, instead of just looking at permanent treatment.

I see anxiety as a conveyor belt, any worries you have, tackle them as soon as possible. As Ledoux was saying, we each have a threshold of anxiety to an extent. If you're worried about losing your job, ask more questions and gain more knowledge. Give yourself reassurance. Want to eat right? Do it. These things that float in your mind daily are being backed up, and trapped because you know you should be doing them. Take 1 item off the conveyor at a time, get competent, and move another item. I've struggled with anxiety and depression and I'm a lot better by tackling them head on. It really is that easy. Life is a job, not just your 40-60/hour grind. You'll be tired, but you'll have purpose. And that to me is the holistic approach to anxiety and depression. Love y'all stay blessed 🙏🏻

Oh man, I have so much to say about this conversation. As a person who has suffered from major anxiety for over 20 years, I believe my stance has some bearing. When my anxiety attacks first began they took over my whole body, sometimes it would look like a seizure, sometimes it would cause me to lose my voice due to extreme hyperventilating. During these attacks there was absolutely no way that I could have just snapped out of it. At 19 years old, this was especially hard on me for I couldn't understand what was happening to me or what it was that was taking control over my body. I really believed that it was being caused by a heart problem, but after a visit to the ER because of yet another severe anxiety attack, the doctor at the hospital told me it was 'just' anxiety. In no way did I believe his diagnosis, so I then went to see my primary doctor who in fact told me the same thing. Since then I have been through all kinds of cognitive therapy and medicines to help cope with it. As time went on I did find other coping mechanisms to help stop bring on the attacks such as breathing techniques, but anxiety symptoms still remain a huge problem for me. It literally debilitates you and only those who struggle with it truly understand just how difficult it is to live with anxiety. Anxiety also comes in all kinds of ways for people. For example, with myself I have always had a huge fear of being up in front of people by myself. Since I was a child I have had the talent of being a good singer. I was in chorus every year of school up until I graduated. But every time I was offered a solo performance I would back out, such as when I was going to sing Rose by Bette Midler at my graduation and instead backed out at the last minute due to my anxiety. I regretted that moment all my life, so I decided while I was in college to take a Voice class. With taking this class the student has to is to do 2 solo performances. One in front of the class and the second a concert open to the public. During my first performance in front of the class I could tell I was pretty anxious, but I still was able to perform ok with some mild to medium anxiety. However, once the concert came around my anxiety was in full gear and I knew I would have to do something to control it. When it came time for me to perform I had spent quite a bit of time mind powering over insecurities and fears with being on stage. My voice was strong and I felt strong. Once I was up on stage to sing, my whole body just went into a complete shake melt down, and no matter how hard I tried to stop it, the shaking would just continue. Basically, I am doing my best to explain how anxiety can be very complex and it isn't just one thing that can cause it. Not one person is the same as the other and most have more than one kind of anxiety that they have to deal with. Because of my life path that involves PTSD, I have to take anxiety medicine, (hydroxyzine) otherwise I start feeling as though I am not even comfortable in my own skin. My hypervigilance goes into full gear and all I want to do is escape. Some people just have to take medicine, it is not a crutch, it is something that is needed to help keep stability in their lives. Mental illness's are a disease and when it is a strong mental illness, sometimes you have no choice but to find a medication that works so that you can at least live a halfway normal life. I don't know personally much about taking Xanax, but I can say that my anxiety medicine works really well for me and the only side effect I have from it is a little drowsiness....... A tidbit for the other anxiety disorder people out there. Check out the homeopathic medicine called 'Rescue Remedy' that works wonders on calming your nerves down. I use it often and it helps keep me calm when I know I am on the verge of losing it. (Sorry for the book, but that's how I roll!)

Thank you for adding your comment. I just found this video interview regarding Xanax and neither of these 2 are doctors or good therapists. I too have PTSD that has caused agoraphobia which is debilitating at best and paralyzing at worst. I have been able to fight off most of the symptoms of it but I do take a small dose of Xanax every day. Without it I hyperventilate. I know why I have anxiety. I have been in therapy for many years but the cause of my problems started at a very young age and I can’t go back and fix that. I’m 71 and I still have new flashback memories that I do not want. I’ve had enough. I know what you meant in your comment and these 2 should not be given any type of medical advice about anxiety, ever. 😊❤️

Yeah they do work, that wasn't his implication. He more was focusing on the fact that what xanax does is disinhibit & "put to sleep" essentially a whole range of brain functions...
Which isn't an actual proper solution to helping ease anxiety, really it's similar to putting novocaine through your whole body (for some reason) just so a dentist can work on your teeth without hurting them. It's overkill & for people who have severely debilitating anxiety that require 1-2 full xanax bars to manage their anxiety - it's also going to be hard for them to function. (Obviously considering they've worked their tolerance up to that point under a doctors supervision).
Either way, i'm glad it helps you. You guys don't need to take too much for you to be able to manage your issue - i'm thankful to hear that! But for more extreme situations, I think the only way to deal with it is with social methodology.. Even if you do need to include some anti anxiety meds in there.
When I was in my late teens I was put on disability due to how bad my anxiety was, I wasn't able to take care of my every day essentials; nevermind anything regarding working or interacting with the world. The meds only slightly helped the physical aspect, instead of feeling like being on the verge of a heart attack, it became just slight shakes.
The thing that helped me the most & eventually (years later) helped me transcend entirely my anxiety problem was the social & mental side of the mental illness. Having loving support was a big part of it too, & I thank god that I've been blessed with the family I have. I don't know what I would've done without them & I can't imagine how much more challenging life would've been for me.
I was fairly close to ending it in it's worse, perpetual stages.. But I couldn't do that to the ones who have done nothing but put so much effort into loving & supporting me.
I really do thank god daily, not just saying that like a cliche.. I'm 27 & doing astounding, completely self-reliant & achieving great things!
I wish everyone who struggles with any illness that they may enjoy the best life they can, I'm rooting for you! You're capable & have great potential of living a beautiful existence no matter what your situation is!

Xanax is for extreme cases of anxiety attacks. For example, you suddenly start hyperventilating, high heart rate, feeling like you can’t control your breathing. It’s more of an instant help for that type of panic attack.
Normal, everyday anxiety is not what it’s for. I ha e both, general anxiety and panic attacks. I can handle the general anxiety but middle of the night panic attacks, that’s when I would need a Xanax.

The last 15 years I've lost my career, relationship, everything. The toll om my family was huge. I was 28 then, I'm 44 now. I've tried *everything.* I have a bizarre nervous system disorder that manifested at the same time as I got stuck on the Valium that has tremendously complicated my efforts.
We really should be much farther along in neuroscience by now. And we could have been, had we not destroyed psychedelic research half a century ago. It's barbaric that we're still here in 2023. We are finally surging ahead now with new technologies to image the brain and the advance of AI, but even so, we're starting from such a low foundation.
In fact in my more despairing moments I feel like I will not be able to get better until neuroscience catches up to my struggles. Hopefully by then they'll have anti-aging medicine too so I can get back the time I lost. (I'm being serious.)

By definition Xanax and Benzos are a miss period considering if you have a anxiety disorder, then benzos is a inappropriate treatment considering disorders are life long where as the creator of benzos bagged the FDA to create a recommendation for duration... Basically benzos weren't made to be taken long term. If you call any pharmacy and ask them the duration guideline, it's 2-4 weeks max, the reason Xanax is no longer acting like it use to or covering your anxiety as well as it did is because your in tolerance. You're GABA neurotransmitter are use to the medications which is bad because GABA contributes to 78% of the Nervous system meaning your causing long term damage to the Nervous system. GABA helps manage anxiety by producing a calming sensation throughout the body, so when you break that GABA receptor down by constantly either using benzos on a regular bases or you use it as needed which is worse because Benzos kindling is a real neurological issue, but over using benzos longer then a month breaks GABA receptors down while shocking the Nervous system making your anxiety ten times worse this is well recommended. This fools the person into believing that the Xanax is keeping they're anxiety in check but that's not true, it's the opposite... The benzos is worsen your anxiety levels forcing you to depend on the Xanax, this circle keeps going until you break the Nervous system. When this happens you will develop literally hundreds of mental and physical symptoms that no one can explain. The FDA issued its 4th black box warning on Sept 23/2020.you are making your anxiety flare up much worse. In fact the anxiety you are experiencing isn't normal anxiety levels it's enhanced which is why benzos can only cover some of your attacks

So this event occurred & there was a lot of stuff I HAD to do to resolve it. I wasn’t eating or sleeping, just hanging onto the edge by my fingernails. Ran into the lady a few days into it. She took one look at me & said, “You can’t go on this way.” A couple of hours later, she knocked on my door. Told me to come with her. She took me to her doctor. I was a zombie. She told him what was going on, said I needed some help in the short-term. He gave me a scrip for Xanax - one month, one refill. She took me to get it & made sure I swallowed that first dose. Then I slept like a dead person. Woke up crying, but with the determination & energy to do what had to be done. It took about 6 weeks, & then it was over. I took the Xanax for 2 months, have never taken it again in the 35 years since. To this day, I’m grateful to that old lady & the doctor. Xanax helped get me through that horrible time. Full disclosure: I don’t seem to have a ‘addictive gene.’ Never been addicted to ANY substance (hell, I don’t even smoke!)
Just sharing my one & only personal experience with Xanax. I have known people who are dependent on it, eat it like candy. Of course it doesn’t “help” them - they’re ADDICTS who misuse & abuse all kinds of things.

    • @RyukyuStyle

@@priyashakya7794 well hopefully you see this, but also full disclosure, i also dont have an 'addictive personality' and i can recognize when something is getting out of control and take action to reverse things before things get to what i consider to be out of hand.
This being said, I get xanax pretty regularly, pressed, claimed to be alprazolam (xanax) but could very well be flualp or bromazolam, etc. Though in my experience of dealing with pressed pills, bromazolam for example doesnt have the bitter taste that xanax does, so people will add a bitterant to the mix to mimic real xanax. I can tell the difference fairly well. So my latest plug I have been using I truly believe they are using real alp, and they are not using a bitterant.
These pills also seemed to be slightly overdosed, like instead of 2mg bars, they are closer to 3mg bars. I have nodded on them before.. Where as getting pressed bromo bars that everyone loved, I never ran into any issues until i took at least 3 of them (which is crazy considering I dont have any tolerance like that) and I have also mixed the bromo presses with alcohol. (Can confirm, dont do this lol. but that goes without saying) You will black out. You might have fragmented memory, but you will not be yourself to put it kindly.
This being said, the way I stopped using them is a simple rule I do for everything. The number 1 most important thing to drugs, is self control. You need to practice self discipline or drugs are always going to give you problems. This is just fax. Lets take something more harmless like weed for example. How many people do you know that smoke weed? I am guessing you know a few people. How many of those people smoke weed every single day - multiple times per day, vs how many people smoke it on occasion. And of the people who smoke daily-multiple times daily, how many of those people could and would stop completely, for 1 single month. Just take 1 month of not smoking any weed what so ever, while having weed in their possession. This is called self control/discipline. You need to have this trait, in order to safely use drugs.
Now that we have step 1 out of the way, step 2 comes along. So you have decided you are going to stop, and because you followed step 1 of self control, etc. you stop.... well night/next few days comes around, you arent feeling to well. You are what people call dope sick. At this point you have 2 options, you can either tough it out which will probably be about a week or so of flu like symptoms if we are talking about opiates. From my understand this is not a safe option with benzos. You can have a seizure from going cold turkey. So if you are trying to quite benzos we will move on to step 3, which you can also do with opiates.
Refer to step one about having self control/discipline. Because I cannot stress enough how important this is. You will fail if you do not have this trait mastered. You instead of quitting cold turkey as they say, you will do what is called a taper. You will slowly reduce your dose, and the amount of times you dose. You simply want to reduce the amount you take and how often you take it. It is that simple.
I will use myself and experiences as an example that you can scale up or down depending on your battle. I would take about 2-3 bars at the most. not consistently either, some days i may take 2-3, some days i may take 1-1/2, anywhere in between. But I would do this daily for ~2 months before I start getting concerned about addiction so thats when I refer to step one and I try to regain self control. unfortunately for me, I b wild, so i dont even know A]. If I am in fact addicted, and B]. what am I even addicted to? because I also use opiates tho much less frequently than benzos minus kratom. I abuse the fuck out of that but thats only for the most part have access to pressed 30s which we all know are fent and I just dont need to be around that or expose people to it so if im not getting 5s out of a pharma bottle from an old man, im not taking oxy, period. This was a moral choice I made.
Back to the quitting of drugs though. So The first thing I would do in my case, is immediately reduce things down to 1 bar per day for about a week or so, usually less. I would take half in the early part of the day, and the other half in the later part of the day. I did this with no ill effects. Then I started reducing further, busting the bars into quarters and 3rds, and just taking what I felt I could get away with. But a High emphasis on step 1 and the self control I was talking about. I wanted to stop, not forever, but to prove to myself that I was indeed in control of myself and actions and not lying to myself. This worked perfectly fine.
Disclaimer though, I was also trying to quit kratom at the same time, and because I was using such low doses of kratom, ~2.5g-3g per day, twice a day, I was under the impression that I was not gonna get withdrawal effects from cutting back. I went from 3g 2-3 times per day, to 2.5g 2-3 times per day, and I noticed negative effects, but I had thought it was from the benzos. Long story short, it was absolutely from the kratom, I felt minorly sick going from 3g-3times per day, to 2.5g 2 times per day for about a week before I stopped getting sick. It wasnt bad, but it wasnt good either. At this point im basically not even taking xanax, maybe 1/4-1/3 of a bar a day, and thats just to help me sleep because i was dealing with the opiate withdrawal lol.
The reason why I put such a huge emphasis on step one, is because it is the key to all things. I can get these things whenever I want. I might have these things on hand. So the ability to have access to them, and choose to not use them knowing you dont feel good and it will all go away if you cave and just take it, is the key to success when dealing with this issue. I am currently occasionally using xanax cuz why not, but not regularly by any means. And I currently have my kratom doses down to 1.5g-2 times a day. I may go for a 2g does 1 time per day in the afternoon for 4 or 5 days, and then reduce that to a 1.5g dose per day, and then I will just stop.
I have done this before, so i know what to expect. Best case scenario, ive quit kratom/benzos cold turkey and strangely had absolutely no side effects other then increased anxiety but it was at a time when even taking them would still have left me with anxiety because i was dealing with a lot of problems in my life (death of a parent, covid lockdowns early on, pretty bad time in my life hitting me all at once, on top of my own personal health scare) But other times I have experienced withdrawals like I am currently, and though I think it is the kratom rather than the xanax, my methodology stays the same. The worst case scenario I have dealt with, is I didnt feel very good and it lasted LESS than a week. Hvae you ever had the flu as a child growing up? like being sick for 4-5 days? that is what it is like at its worst if you follow these steps. You can overcome it, but you have to want to overcome it. Thats why step 1 is the key to unlocking the entire thing.
      tl;dr
Just taper by reducing your dose, over an extended period, whatever you feel comfortable with, and then you need to gain control of yourself, self control is key in this whole thing. at some point after reducing your doses and periods of dosing over the selected duration to lessen any harshness you might experience, you have to cut it. Be prepared for a few to several days of unpleasantness. But like a kid with a cold, you will overcome, and you will be back to normal.
The problem with addicts is, addicts do not want to stop, they are stopping due to external pressures of society. If you truly want to stop, only you can make that happen, and its much easier to do than you think, but you have to want it. Self control and Self discipline are the keys to unlocking this superpower trait into beating addiction.
I use drugs, I dont use drugs, Ive been addicted, Ive beaten addiction, I am in control. I dont want to sound arrogant, but doing the things ive done, addressing the issues, and taking control of the situation, has given me a super power view of the world in a negative way in which i see my friends who smoke weed, who refuse to admit they are addicted, but refuse to quit smoking weed for 1 single month, let alone a day. they smoke all day every day, and woudnt even consider quitting for 1 month even if i tell them to smoke again after they have quit for 1 month. They wont do it. I dont know if its because they dont want to, or its because they cant do it, but it makes me feel like I have a special ability in which I can control my desires better than other people. This makes me feel better about myself and my own flaws which we all have.
I am in control of myself.
I wish you the best of luck in your life's journey. Quitting doesnt have to mean forever. But make sure you are the one who is in control. When you have lost or given up control, that is when the problems starts. Much love and stay strong!!!

@@priyashakya7794 If she took low doses, there isn't much to taper. I had an almost identical experience to hers. I too took it during the few months after the sudden, premature death of my Father. I took one or two of the lowest dose pills (.25 mg) most everyday for 2-3 months then when the shock was wearing off, I just maybe took a few a week (approximately), then none again. The people that have to really "taper off" are eating them like candy and often at higher doses. Withdrawals from higher doses for a long time CAN be deadly and just need to be tapered down in a common sense way (provided someone can do the math), or discuss with a physician. Also NEVER take any benzodiazepene with alcohol - which is another problem people have. Probably 90% of people DON'T take it correctly (which really should only be "as needed" anyway for a short-term solution and NOT a long-term regimen). Too many unethical doctors back in the day, and too many idiots taking too much giving it a bad name. If taken responsibly, benzodiazepenes are excellent medications for what they are intended for.

I've had panic disorder for the past 3 years or so (and social anxiety almost all my life), and it has always helped me to an extent to understand that my intense anxiety is just a survival process in my body. I lost 40lbs from vomiting almost every day for a couple months straight when I first started having panic attacks all day. I tried a few prescriptions and they either didn't work, or gave me an allergic reaction. The only thing that has helped my fear, kept me eating a healthy amount of food, and assisted with my mood because I've also been depressed for years, is marijuana. It's a far cry from solving all my problems, and not everyone has a positive response to smoking, either, but it undeniably has helped me to function during a time where I was so paranoid that I thought I was developing schizophrenia because I had just turned 20. Now I've recovered to a point where I was able go out to dinner with my friend and their family WITHOUT utterly freaking out on the inside for no good reason and having to leave the table.

The only problem is I'm only 18, and I suddenly started noticing some memory problems. Decided to stop using it on my own, and I've stopped it about 3 weeks ago. I'm still feeling some withdrawal symptoms but overall I'm still strong so far. Wish me luck

    Serious discussion here.
I was one of the first people in this country to take xannax as a subject in a medication research study conducted by the Upjon Corp and Stanford University during the early 1980's.
After a year and a half in the study, I was up to 23mg per day, and I tell you true... it did not elevated my debilitating panic disorder or help with anxiety. It just made me not give a shit about what was happening inside me, tho didn't stop the episodes.
Had to go through an in hospital 30 day withdrawal program to get off the shit. Never touched another benzodiazepine since.
Today, if I feel an episode coming on, two beers and I'm good to go. I'm not suggesting that self medicating is the answer, but what I will say is that the medical professionals have absolutely no clue as to the origins of debilitating panic/anxiety and will throw drugs in a hit and miss effort at a patient without regard for the potential horrible outcomes.

@@TangoNevada Believe it or not, at the time, I was the Service Manager for the third largest BMW dealership in the country; Two kids, yuppie wife and a $2200 per month mortgage... lot's of responsibilities that I shouldered while no one around me had a clue as to what I was struggling with. I hid it pretty well.
I wasn't given a script or dosage protocol during the study. The Dr literally gave me a cookie jar full of 1mg's and said: take one... if you still anxious, take another. Brilliant advise, eh? I pretty much ramped myself up to that dosage over the year and a half.
Withdrawals were miserable. Had one seizure, and the hospital tapered me off with librium.
Had certain success with bio-feedback for a while... actually, the longest times I went without episodes is when I participated in group sessions with others who suffered the same.
Just knowing I wasn't alone and NOT crazy, AND, that the episodes won't kill me truly helped a lot.
Don't know if this makes sense, but having people around who understand the condition and give you space to freak out every so often without judgement, REALLY helps.

This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body. A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot. It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. Xanax is actually the best anxiolytic for acute severe panic/anxiety attacks. That is part of the trouble with them is they act very rapidly and effectively making them very addictive and the rebound effect can become an issue if they are abused. If you take them as prescribed due to a chemical imbalance in your brain you’ll be fine, if your pippin’ bars w/ bottles on the daily then you won’t be. Everything is relative and has a time and place folks!

    • @DapperCracker512
      @DapperCracker512 5 років тому

People overlook its therapeutic use because of the people abusing it. Personally, I hate Xanax for recreation but could see its use for acute episodes. I do take Klonopin though and that does me greatly, just half milligram a day helps a recovered heroin/crackhead in a liveable mind state without using hard drugs.

Even prescribed some do hit tolerance where they have to raise the amount of the dose to get the same effect. It works very similar to how alcohol does. if you're taking them daily ( as prescribed ) the brain and the gut stops producing GABA ( the calming mechanism of the body) hence everything goes into hyperstate . Some people are lucky where they never get this. but there are sure lots of people out there that take a prescribed dose that are unlucky that have horrific effects on them.

    - told myself I didn’t need or want em. Ended up getting them as my life at the time was unraveling after a breakup + job loss. All the Xanax did was aggravate that process and make life more miserable.
