Depends to what you compare it with. My “cable television” at home costs me 40 euro per month for crap content. CHATGPT is a great learning platform and engaging, so yes worth it?
Looks like for code generation and analysis GPT-4 is substantially better. But $20 is very expensive, that's more than I pay for my ISP or for Netflix. Can't justify it as a personal user. I feel like it's now a toy for the wealthy or for professionals. I probably would have signed up for $5, especially since the free Bing Chat version of GPT-4 is buggy, argumentative and heavily filtered to the point where it's basically crippled.
Im 3 years deep into being a security analyst and have a home server that i just in general fuck around with different kinds of deployments/builds/detections (SIEM,SOAR,EDR,K8s and docker) Its been pretty amazing for learning and building. Lately its been slow no doubt to the dedicated servers im assuming for plus users. I thinks its worth it especially if they add some intel sourcing on to there i can use it for school maybe. BUT ive spent years being an expert Google Dorker and i stick to the free chatGPT and let it load while i do more research on google at the same time. I think chatGPT needs to develop a version that works on personal databases for both business and personal use. It will provide security and privacy and is a good business direction for this developer.
How come does it provide privacy/security? You are always sending the data to the OpenAI Servers.... The only way is to have something similar open sourced and running locally on a Geforce

Just a side note, it's called GPT-4 (the new model), not "ChatGPT-4". ChatGPT is the name of the chatbot (a tool), not the model behind. I don't get why everyone gets it wrong. Also it's not the 4th generation of ChatGPT. Currently, GPT-4 is only for plus subscribers (with limits) while other users can use GPT-3.5 turbo. OpenAI has a limited capacity, so they're rolling out new models/features to a small group of people first (to test -> feedback -> improve) before making them widely available (just like what they've been doing previously when they released GPT-3).

I figured I pay about that much for Spotify, Netflix, etc. Why not pay for something that is actually useful and can drastically improve my day to day life
It's now limited to 50 messages per 4 hours (I just subscribed). I figured it would be worth it for at least a month to test between the models rather than theorized and guess; just use the different models and see what the outputs and results are.
nice my friend! thank you! I'd like to understand what's basically the difference (in price) of ChatGPT plus and 4. Because you say plus is $20 p/month and what about 4?? I read in the OpenAI website in pricing, that you'll be charged for what you ask chatGPT to answer, with tokens. Have you read about that?

After a long discussion with GPT-3 last night , GPT-3 finally admitted that in two years it will probably be able to write novels good enough to be published. I can only guess what GPT-4 has to say about that (LOL). Bye bye novelists, aspiring novelists, copy writers, screenplay writers, sitcom writers, editors, proof readers, and illustrators. So I'll retire to the couch with my UBI, eat pizza and ice cream, get sloppy fat, ice cream in, poop out.... pizza in, poop out.... ice cream and pizza in, poop poop out.... Utopia, at LAST

@M Th I wrote an article years ago as part of a research paper at University. Chat GPT had my as the author of a book different than what I had contributed. This has happened to reporters as well awhile back. The reporter couldn’t remember writing the specific piece, but the headline sounded like something they would have written. It was a subject they were identified with and had a record of covering. However, it was later determined the story was false. Huge amounts of information have been written about generative AI’s tendency to manufacture false facts and events. But this specific problem is the invention of sources. Which is particularly troubling for trusted organisations and journalists. Whose inclusion adds legitimacy & weight to a persuasively written fantasy. So, for readers and the wider information ecosystem here. It opens up new questions about whether published information can be trusted in any way. It could feed conspiracy theories about the removal of articles. In addition to sensitive issues that never existed. This could damage people's reputation & careers if not dealt with promptly. Fortunately, I was able to fix my association. As I contacted the real writer & explained the situation. Open AI itself admits problems here that need regulation to fix.
