      It's not about if it looks better. It's the time, effort and expense it took to add them and the time it took away from other things he should have been doing when it wasn't necessary. No more than those tires stuck out it wasn't hurting anyone.

    I always wondered about your and Matt's vehicles as here in Australia they have strict rules on mud flaps and tyres not protruding past the body of the vehicle, if so then you have to add fender flares to extend all the way out to cover the full width of the tyre and rim (all protruding area) and get it passed. I wish I had a large workshop and all the tools you have there Paul, so lucky to have what you want and need..... And there it is, Michelle commented on our(Australian laws) You guys are soo lucky to do what you want and how you want (within reason of course)... Another great episode. Keep up the great work and I tapped myself on the back for helping in the workshop as you said earlier.. haha...

    I’m glad that mudflap law exists however it’s not being enforced in the right places… I have definitely been behind dump trucks carrying gravel/Aggregates with literally no flaps at all on the rear most axle… Talk about sudden-death for a windshield!

    I'm in Australia and I've always wondered how you guys are able to get away with the tyres (sorry..."tires"...hahaha) poking out so much. This is REALLY noticeable on Matt's Morvair!!! I don't understand why they went to the trouble of building fender flares on that car, but they don't go anywhere even CLOSE to covering the tyres!!! Why would they even bother making flares that don't do the job??
    Also, here in the land of OZ, our mud flaps have to be no higher than 12" off the ground, so your new flaps wouldn't pass the cops inspection either. You guys are so lucky to have such relaxed laws there in the USA.

    • @nsaanity
      @nsaanity 2 роки тому +2

      Matt's Morvair qualifies as a station wagon, same as an XJ or YJ Cherokee, our Excursion is lifted with 35's and doesn't need flaps as it is a Station wagon too, but my dodge truck with the same tires, needs to have flaps that are within 8 inches of the ground. I put a set of semi flaps that hang off the receiver hitch. I pinned them on took the picture for a fixit ticket and they came off and have not been on in 10 years ....knock on wood.

    • @gold5th
      @gold5th 2 роки тому +2

      In alberta canada, the top 1/2 of the tire needs to be covered either by flare, fender or flap... So mudflaps must come down to the centre line of the axle, but need to be at least I think 10cm off the ground. Really all they do is reduce the height of a rooster tail, they don't actually stop debris from hitting the windshield of the car behind you, 'cause they don't go low enough

      It is different state by state here too. In the south where I’m from nobody cares about any of it. If there are any laws for it nobody even knows about them and they def aren’t enforced.

      @@MrSmith223 I saw a video where down in AU just adding some bolt on roof racks can put some vehicles over weight, and thus "illegal"... Here I've towed way over my factory limit (in a controlled, low risk environment) and cops can't technically say anything.
