ABOUT KEVIN CHAPMAN
Hi, I'm Kevin Chapman, a full-time UA-camr, author, podcaster, speaker and occasional teacher from Peterborough, UK. As part of my daily vlog I release new videos every day at 5pm UK time with topics including life as an autism family, conventions and geek culture, technology, education and tutorials and entrepreneurship.
When I left my full-time as a Computer Science teacher in July 2017, my partner, Anna, was trapped in our house by our son Andy, who is autistic and had refused to go to school for 18 months. Our daughters Lucy and Amy and our dog Dave hardly saw me because I was always working to try and solve all our problems! Today I'm a full-time content creator who's always at home when my kids get home from school (all our kids!) and Anna has been able to return to university. This channel is the story of my family's ongoing journey as family vloggers! Previously known as lollujo Vlogs.

We're is Andy's real dad??? Andy's dad is sat right there speaking to the camera. He might not be his biological dad.. but he has stepped up and looked after Andy. Kev is probably the best dad Andy could ask for!!

The person who is there always is the father, blood really does mean shit in my opinion. It's who puts in the hard graft. Andy sees him as dad and that's that
BIOLOGICAL , I’m fairly sure that the man with the sperm is the father and yes he may act like his real father but he is not , he is a stepdad 🤦🏼♂️

One thing I've noticed with 'family vloggers' is one part of the audience tend to have more (small-c) conservative views on families ("family values"), and they place a heavy emphasis on the nuclear family, on marriage, and 'traditional values', so these people get very confused why you choose to live your family life in a way that doesn't match their views on what is right. But of course, no-one really has the right to say you're doing anything wrong when you're obviously not.
My family is a mess and im still happy. I just tend to ignore judgemental people. You should live your life whatever way makes you happy and no one else should tell you otherwise.
Absolutely! My family life isn't exactly textbook, I've got a step-family, we live in separate houses, but it works better than if we were forced to conform to how other people say we should live our lives.

I’ve known so many friends on the spectrum who have done really well for themselves; some went to Uni and found jobs - mostly working/volunteering with children. Never say ever because there’s always a light 💡 at the end of the tunnel. Wonderful video, Kevin. 🦋✨

Good idea. I had stopped watching the younow streams recently, because the same questions keep coming up. I thought it was kind of inevitable really as new people come on, they are bound to ask the same sort of questions. I did always try and drop in though if I saw you were live and at least gave you a free spin, doesn't cost me anything! Hope this works.

a dad is someone who is there for the child, kev you are andys dad, your doing amazing job, your amazing to step up to be andys dad and andy loves you. if i didnt have my step dad i would be lost ive never had a “DAD” until 2010 when my step dad first cane into my life. its the same for my 4 yr old boy his dad sadly passed before he was born, but yet my partner is there for him and the same as his grandad. end of the day kev your doing amazing

Taking on Andy with Anna is noble enough, but leaving your career to help care for him really is true love. "Dad" isn't defined by blood, but by the love and support you provide for a child. You seem like an incredible dad to all three children, and you seem like a really nice guy in general.

Hey kev, I think you and Anna have created a great, positive loving environment for Andy to grow up in. It must be hard as you have a very stressful life as at the end of the day I guess Andy is quite hard to read sometimes. I do watch some other youtubers who have autistic children and Andy is 9/10 the happiest kid I’ve seen. Keep going and you’re family is awesome

And similarly to you, yourself and the others in the streams are the only ppl I “talk to” everyday other than my carer’s(and dogs). I was able to answer all of the questions you did. My mom has the same dad situation as andy- her 'sperm donor' left when she was a baby, and she met my grandpa/her dad when she was eight. idk how long it was after that when him and my grandma started seeing each other. but my mom hid it from me forever, and i found out when i was around 11. its been 7 years since and i honestly forget about it a lot bc literally nothing has changed since i found out. i dont get why people worry about it. it doesnt mean anything to create a baby, what matters is raising it and loving it. and quite honestly, i dont think people who abandon the child they made deserve to even be mentioned?
I loved what you said about you being Andy's dad. There is no question that you are defiantly his dad. I have friends going through the same thing. They got together after she had her son and as far as her kid knows, his stepdad is his dad. He calls his biological father his "other dad". It pisses me off so much because the guy hasn't been in his son's life since he was born. Now that his son is 7, he wants to play dad now. Not to mention he had another child with a woman after two weeks together and decided to move to the other side of the country. He cant be a dad to one kid and just abandon the other. I'm so sorry for my rant but I just wanted to say that you're a great dad and there needs to be more people like you. :)

My son's actual father isn't around either. Haven't heard from him in almost 7 years. He was very physically abusive and also said he wasn't going to help out with anything until my son started talking (he is nonverbal). He was just a sperm donor as well. We are better off without him.

I'm proud of Kev. Kev has worked really hard for his family writing books, becoming a UA-cam blogger Etc. I 100% think in my opinion he has t he right to be called Andy dad, and whoever doesn't keep it to yourselves don't let the Chapman family and the whole world know that youre a complete dushbag. The way I see it in my eyes is, who is the person that is caring and supporting Andy not Andy's Biological father but Kev the father who stepped in. If Andy's biological father cared about him then he wouldn't have left Kev is the one supporting him. And let's face it, Andy's not perfect but who else is so don't want go insulting him in the comments everyone has their difficulties and problems and by commenting trash about other people shows you're worse than them and have serious issues. If you find a better father than Kev ill be gobsmacked, keep up the good work Chapman family and youre doing a good job Kev knocking all the haters down that's what they deserve...

I'm 32 and not planning to do any exams in the near future, but I bought and thoroughly enjoyed the book a while ago, Kev. I think I was just tired of the constant plugging and wanted to find out what the fuss was about. :p
