Absolute gem. Great holiday destination if you don't want to leave the country. I drove 2.5 hours each way and visited a few days ago with my wife and son, parked for 6 hours for a tenner, ate in town, took loads of pics with the family in the park, relaxed on the beach near the Pier under a umbrella. I actually like having a lot of people around as it gives me confidence going in to the water with lots of people around and life guards. The more lively it is, the better. The fact it is a sand beach is a bonus.
As a Yorkshire lass I think anywhere along the Yorkshire Coast is the best especially Whitby, Saltburn and Scarborough for large seaside towns. As well as the much smaller Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and Runswick Bay. They are all worth a visit
For about 7 or 8 summers in a row when I was a kid we used to travel down from Cumbria to Bournemouth for a 2 week holiday. Loved it there, fantastic beach. We tended to be closer to Poole & get a beach hut to use. Great to see that the crazy golf is still in the park, I used to play on there with my grandad, it was a lot of fun. Remember the park/gardens well, the seafront near the pier is very different from when I was last there. I don't think the Oceanarium was open & I see that is 25 years that it has been there. Great to reminisce, thanks for the video.
Love Bornemouth, I grew up in London and would go there in the summer, good times. I used to go Brighton and Southend-on-Sea too. I'd get more excited about going to these places than my international holidays 😂.
I absolutely love Bournemouth. Used to go every year as a kid (well, Poole, but visited Bournemouth). That park brings back so much nostalgia. Did they still have the little coloured jars with candles in that made up different objects?
Good morning both! I've only ever been to Bournemouth once and never saw theseaside attractions, I went fossil instead from the cliffs, wot a difference to Gt. Yarmouth! Obviously 'in season' as it were, but it looks a very 'genteel ' affair, surrounded by some delightful (expensive) villages. Your mention of the Harry Ramsden restaurant in your Yarmouth film, got me drawn to this location, there used to be one in the middle of London, but I've never been to either (assuming the London H.R. is still operating) hHope youise twose had a great time! The wind baffle on your mic makes such a difference to your narration (which is superb!) VBW x
I love Bournemouth, great bar scene & karaoke scene & use to DJ in few clubs, miss DJ ing there fun times as was resident, great holiday destination, I know a lot of people in Bournemouth I like the friendly atmosphere, I used go Jumping Jacks, With friends & met new friends good times
My hometown. Born there in 1964 and lived there until 2009 when I moved to North Wales. Still have not returned since then, but have a holiday booked there in March 2025.
You will hate the place , it’s changed a lot the last 15 years , more so the last 5 years. Check who owns the hotel , make sure you be able to have English food .
I am so glad we are ok 👍 now I fully regret the way I treated you 3 years ago so badly you were so kind to me I will always make up to you I was in a bad place with my autism and mental health at the time but it no excuse the way i treat you xxx xxx I am huge fan of your always have been xxxx you are one of my favourite UA-camrs xx
Agree with u there I love Bournemouth my favourite place ever. I've got family that live down there my brother and his wife . Even on a cold day it's still nice to walk around. Not sure if they still have the birds at the top
My mum brought me to Bournemouth each year all my life. Since her passing I still come to Bournemouth for a long weekend or Red Arrows. But yes the change is quite remarkable. Especially when they built the bicycle centre. I would peek inside the building site but still remember the hotel that stood there. First hotel I remember is Mon Ami St Michael's Rd.
Going to be in Bournemouth at the end of October. What's still open? Or does a lot shut down because of the time of year? Looking forward to the visit. Looks like a lovely place.
I live in Bournemouth, it never really shuts down as the town is far more than just a resort but it will certainly be a lot quieter in late October. If you tell me what you enjoy doing I'll try and give you a few recommendations.
As a midlands dweller my favourite beachside place to visit is Teignmouth in Devon, I have many fond memories of caravanning with the folks down there, really nice place especially by the harbour bit by the estuary, recommend it for you to visit Kev :D
i live in scarbourough, im going to be honest since all we have now is and open air theatre, a water shoot and miniture railway since kinderland is long gone, the arcades are the only thing we have left other than that its a bit crap, and i live here so what does that tell you, dont stop coming here because of me im just saying in my opinion, its not great we drive a hole day whorth of driving away to go on holiday so..........yeh, again though still come here i just live less than twenty minutes from the beach so i just have alot of history with my family but thats changed now so yeh, we do still have armed forces day once a year and a naval warfare in a local park near the beach that happens every sommer so thats good i enjoy that
Good vid this Kev , I’m from Plymouth and the wife is from Poole so we go up a couple times a year, we normally go to Alum Chine just a little further down towards Poole, I will definitely next visit take my autistic twins on that zip line tho , I’ll walk up from Alum , cheers Kev
There are a lot of issues in Bournemouth around crime, drug problems and commercial decline, not the place it used to be. The councils' decision to pedestrianise massive areas has hampered retail and access
Whitby and Scarborough are pretty nice. Cleethorpes is my local. It's had a facelift in recent years and its not so bad but it's connected to Grimsby so it can never be S tier. I always had fond memories of visiting Newquay in Wales as a kid, watching the dolphins in the bay. No idea what it's like 25+ years later. As others have said, Jaywick looks to be the worst by a mile. Never been, I don't fancy being stabbed in the arcade.
Ho ho ho (re the review of Skegness) my ex & his wife recently moved from their 25+ years in a 6th floor London flat, to a bungalow in Skegness !! I hope they fit in there... I've never been to Bournemouth, but I've never heard anything bad about it... However, my daughter is my carer, I'm disabled now and use a manual wheelchair - which my daughter pushes for me, and so as neither of us drives, I'd really need to know which seaside (or other) resorts are wheelchair / disabled accessable and able to be reached by public transport and / or disability accessable taxi cabs. 🤔😮🤔🧡🧡🖖
Are you joking😂😂😂. We live a few miles down the road never go there. You can’t move on the beach and the crime numbers are high. Far better beaches and countryside at studland and shell bay.
Went a few days ago, parked for 6 hours for a tenner, ate in town, relaxed on the beach near the Pier. I actually like having a lot of people around as it gives me confidence going in to the water with lots of people around and life guards. The more lively it is, the better.
Not much on there , I know 20 odd years ago to go on a boat trip , you paid for boat trip and pier. Everything you have to pay for. Went to Eastbourne Pier don’t have to pay , on their pier . Harry Ramsden is good. Over 60’s get it cheaper and good deal .
Omg we just came back from a weekend there and it was quite literally hell on earth!!! A beautiful part of the world, utterly destroyed by “modernity!!!” NEVER again!!!
You can’t be serious!!!! Bournemouth has sadly gone downhill from its hay days of the 60s 70s n 80s. Way too touristy and no room on small beaches especially at high tide. Avon beech in Christchurch is so much better and the town has more character too
All I’ve read about Bournemouth are the rapes and sexual assaults that have been happening in the sea and beach area the last few months, don’t sound like a safe place to go
To be fair mate, you obviously have no idea of the threat to freedom (Canadian truckers) that a cashless society presents. I suggest you educate yourself and forsake the convenience of your card. Born in Bournemouth in the 70s, emigrated to Australia in the 90s, the decline of the town is Stark and saddening.
It was the best seaside town until it was engulfed by cultural enrichment, diversity, equity, inclusion, out-of-control immigration, hotels shut to the public and filled with illegals, and the poverty industry sucking in druggies and tramps from all across the country (and not just in Boscombe). Bournemouth is now a shabby, vandalised, dystopian landscape of criminality, especially the gangland area of Old Christchurch Road and Horseshoe Common. The sea itself is nice, though.
I lived in Bournemoth for 5 years all the homeless that I’ve seen are English the one who does drugs are English who steals from shops are English… without immigrants you would die from hunger.
I agree!! Loved Bournemouth for the 25 yrs I have lived in Dorset. But since the pandemic it’s gone downhill. Unbelievably Poole Quay is becoming the place to be.(I know I suffered every summer working there. 😂
I also agree.went there for a hot Bank Holiday 3 years ago.i thought I was in a diffrent country on entering the beach, huge tents and gazeebos up everywhere and loud music being blasted out of um and wherever you went on the beach the stink of dope was everywhere.after an hour we could no longer stand the ignorance of certain people and we moved off.very sad as bournemouth was a beautiful town.😢😢
Dodgy city day by day, full of homeless people and infractionality going up!Plus the weather is crap ...if you catch 2-4 sunny days a year ,proper ones for the beach ,you are blessed by GOD!
Bournemouth was a beautiful place to live before all the migrants. The sense of community has been destroyed. We now have a stabbing every other day . Tony Blair should be locked up for what hes done. Such a shame.
I live in Bournemouth and don’t like it. I’m not a beach fan so that part doesn’t interest me. The town is full of druggies openly using. The Asda car park smells like an sewer as people openly use it as a toilet. I suppose it’s the same in much of the UK now. The traffic is terrible too. One of the most congested places in the UK.
@@jamescokl3 there is a lot of unskilled work but there is no chance of a council flat! It’s nearly impossible to get one the waiting list. There are private flats of course. They’re in high demand and you’re talking about £600+ pcm for a studio.
Is Skegness the WORST seaside town in the UK? 👉 ua-cam.com/video/TeIChKEU5yI/v-deo.html

Don’t forget Redcar 😊
Eww Yorkshire sucks ass.
Come South for the weather.
It's not a park in the centre of town (parks have gates and are locked at night usually). They are gardens!
For about 7 or 8 summers in a row when I was a kid we used to travel down from Cumbria to Bournemouth for a 2 week holiday. Loved it there, fantastic beach. Bournemouth is fantastic, Weymouth also is a great seaside town, my favourite has to be st Ives in Cornwall also Newquay is a magnificent place.
Love Bornemouth, I grew up in London and would go there in the summer, good times. I used to go Brighton and Southend-on-Sea too. I'd get more excited about going to these places than my international holidays 😂.
Sounds great!
I wouldn’t recommend Southend-on-Sea these days. It’s become a very rough, unsafe area.
I absolutely love Bournemouth. Used to go every year as a kid (well, Poole, but visited Bournemouth). That park brings back so much nostalgia. Did they still have the little coloured jars with candles in that made up different objects?
they stopped that sometime in the 2000s sadly, that was fun!
@@sillysoz Oh no! 😢

1:55 Glad you think so Kev! I’m mates with someone who’s mother owns the company, so I’ll pass that on!
3:50 That 'little stream' that goes out to the sea is the River Bourne, hence Bourne-mouth :-) .

Beleave it or not the stream is actually the River Bourne.
I used to race sticks down there on my way to go night fishing on the pier.
The flyover is much better than the road that was there before.
Agree with u there I love Bournemouth my favourite place ever. I've got family that live down there my brother and his wife . Even on a cold day it's still nice to walk around. Not sure if they still have the birds at the top

Go to New Brighton, opposite Liverpool - only found it last year & it's lovely

summer or winter Bournemouth is great busy all year never shuts down like other resorts immaculate beaches hard to beat
Thanks Kevin for a walk down memory lane, a great pity the dept stores are now closed down, beales, house of fraser, ect
No, I think Weymouth is the best or maybe Blackpool at a push
Weymouth sucks, and Blackpool is even worse. You can keep your dirty and shitty rocky beaches.
Bournemouth is the best ❤

Hi!... here again... love your content!!
Where did you stay?
❤ Bournemouth ❤
weston is quite nice lots to do
thnx for sharing this beautiful place,...
Come during the winter too. We have a temporary bar/outdoor ice skating rink that goes up in the gardens ❤ 🧊

I love Bridlington but Bournemouth is also nice
Wait? When did you have to pay to go on Bournemouth pier?
it's only really during summer months it's not all year round

Harry Ramsden is good. Over 60’s get it cheaper and good deal .
There is a parking near beach , more expensive and gets busy very quickly on a hot day.
Lymington is nearer to go on the boat to IOW.
Not cheap by car .
Hey saw you on anglia news last night xx
That's cool! I didn't know what channels I would end up on and when!
West Midlands Doesnt have monkey's recently went back in August.
Bournemouth is the best
Beautiful best beach in south of London apart from Cornwall x
Looks okay to me.
Try Paignton as a bad one.

the bourne stream ( bournemouth )

You should come and visit Weston-super-Mare/Burnham or Minehead then Kev...

Pembrokeshire in West Wales has a dozen beaches that beat Bournemouth..
All I’ve read about Bournemouth are the rapes and sexual assaults that have been happening in the sea and beach area the last few months, don’t sound like a safe place to go
I live in Bournemouth, I've not really heard of that but it does happen but it's not that common, mainly drug crimes
