    Your explanation for atmospheric stability is a bit off. Atmospheric instability doesn't just mean rising air, it refers to the atmosphere to having a high environmental lapse rate i.e the atmosphere cools rapidly as altitude increases.
    A stable atmosphere has a low ELR, meaning a given layer of the atmosphere has little to no cooling as altitude increases.
    Why does temperature matter? Parcels of air stop rising when the warm parcel of air reaches a temperature in the atmosphere where the surrounding temperature is equivalent to the parcel of air. If the ELR is low, then parcels of air condensate (if humid) at lower levels in the atmosphere, if the ELR is high, parcels of air condensate at higher altitudes, thus creating CBs.
    As we know, high pressure systems usually present a stable atmosphere; the opposite for low pressure systems.

    • @blueskiesandtailwinds6004
      @blueskiesandtailwinds6004  2 роки тому

      Hi, thanks for the detailed comment.
      I am aware of the fact that if ELR > ALR, it will give rise to a condition when the parcel of air will be warmer than the surrounding air and thus it will keep going up causing instability and VICE-VERSA for stability.
      In this video, I did not want to go deep into these lapse rates, so to keep it simple I just said that instability is required for vertical development of clouds, so that the air goes up.
      I will make a separate video on atmospheric stability where I'll talk about these terms you just used!
      Thanks.

      @@blueskiesandtailwinds6004 yeah cheers mate, not to tell you what to do but just be cautious about oversimplifying stuff, otherwise generalisations are made and misconceptions are provoked in one's mind. Perhaps just have a side note saying you'll discuss the given topic later as its too complex to be explained in one video.
