- Hello everyone!
In this video, I have explained atmospheric pressure, how does an altimeter work and what are the different Q- codes used in aviation.
Watch the whole video, as I have also used a flight simulator at the end to explain QNH setting and the aerodrome elevation concept.
This is the best video you can find on the internet explaining the Atmospheric pressure and altimetry.
Let me know if you have any doubts!

I would really like to take a moment and appreciate the hard work you have put to make these videos. I haven't come across any aviation video with such a simplified explanation of these technical topics. I am glad to come across your videos, looking forward to many more of them. The way you explain things, I am sure nobody can forget ever! More power to you!
Explanation using the simulator was just "cherry on top" :)
I always found altimetry to be one of the hardest concepts to understand from all the ATPL topics and this video made everything so easy. Thank you so much for it and keep up the amazing work. You definitely have a very bright future ahead
After watching this video I think no need IC Joshi book for this topic. I am happy that you have made this video because which was asked by me. Expecting more videos sir. Understanding easily. Great 🎉🎉
I'm glad these videos are helping you. Best of luck!
@@blueskiesandtailwinds6004 Expecting more videos sir
Heyy man, this is the bestt channel, I would like to thank you because I cleared my Met in the first attempt only by watching your videos. Thank you so much for demonstrating the concepts so easily ❤❤
the biggest doubt in Q codes are now very clear. Thanks to you and your video . GBU sir!!
Glad to hear that. So nice of you! Thanks
Love & respect to the hard work ya put in all your videos hats off to ya mate 🫶🏻
Thank you for your contribution full the dream of thousands of aspiring pilot 🎉🎉🎉
You are really a great teacher Sir, your explanations are so so and so good sir.
Thank you very very much sir.
😊❤
The music in the background didn’t bother me at all! This video is perfection!
The best explanation ..of altimetery....no can explain like u ....
Hats off.....this video really helps me a lot ......❤️❤️❤️❤️.....keep it up brother ....and expecting more vidoes .... expecting the chapter ...wind,cloud,cat, Jetstream, ice accertion, and metar...it will helps a lot to all aspirings pilot
Thanks a lot brother, this means a lot😁👍🏼
Please remove the background music, it's hurting to ears
U explain concepts so well... I dun feel like reading IC Joshi now😄
Thanks a lot, haha just do the back questions tho!
Best lecture for atmospheric pressure. Thank you so much 🔥❤️
Thank you so much, I C Joshi chapter has too much of info and I was not able to grasp much from it, this definitely helped me out. Keep up the good work. God Speed 👍🏻
Superb explanation...expecting all the modules to be covered by you.. great going
you teach so good, thanks a lot
After 4 years in avaition, today I understood QNH....fuck man...what a relief.....buddy keep at it,you're naturally good at it and will do wonders...i promise you ...at what point are you? Cpl, TR 'ed or working?
Suppose There is a lecture in progress in a college or school, at the same time somebody is playing music on the mobile in the class.
Dear sir pls remove the music as it is a distraction
I love your videos
thankyou so much sir. I was unable to understand this concept from IC Joshi but you made everything easy now. Please make such videos :)
Thats amazing. Thank you!
Yes, I'm trying my best 😊
thank you, brother. much needed video...
You're always welcome, bro!
You made it so easy to understand. Thank you so much. Well explained
I have a question: Both QNH and QFF provide pressure readings at mean sea level (MSL), but QFF takes into account actual temperature and pressure conditions, while QNH is based on the International Standard Atmosphere (ISA). If QFF is more accurate, why is it not used in aviation for setting altimeters?
amazing .. hands down . best video by far . thank you :)
Thanks a lot. I'm glad I could help!
this was so very easy pls continue this and thank you so much
Thank you, I will
@@blueskiesandtailwinds6004 quick tip u can say "wilco" instead of I will 😄
jk xD
Hahaha very nice. I like this🤪
Thank you so much sir, good explanation.. we are expecting more videos
Plz try to make videos on air regulations
Thanks a lot, I'll post a regs video too soon!
So informative and well explained
U r a Great teacher,
Humbly Suggest to remove music sir
Amazingly explained concepts. Thank you soo much ❤️
Ur A LifeSaver Sir. Thnx alot
Very nice information and conceptual clarity 👍 Thanks 🙏
Heyy!
Can you do all the chapters of meteorology?
Best Explanation.
Thanks ❤
Thank you captain , please make videos on regulations
Thank you brother!
You're welcome brother!
Amazing intro n video 😁❤️
Thank you so much..
I wanted to know about the altimeter under reading and over reading in different pressure
Heartily thanks for this video
These are the cheat codes of passing dgca exams🔥
Hi.. I would like to ask you.. Can you make videos for other topics as well like Microbursts, Visibility, Wake Turbulence, Station Models, Aeronautical Reports in Meteorology?
Hi, yeah. I’ll do that soon!
15:09
You have mentioned that altitude is the vertical distance measured from the msl to where the aircraft is flying. I don't think so it's the correct definition for it. I think you have gave the definition for flight level.
Altitude is measured from any fixed datum , not mean sea level.
Great video but if background music wasnt there it would have been even more better
1:13 the mass "M" reminded me of mcdonalds lol....anyways nice vid as always!
Hahaha time to get a burger
Please explain the concept of Speeds in aviation. Tas, Mach, GS
Brilliant
Keep making video like this
I will try my best!
Perfect 💯
Thank you
Really good video, I would just like to know the name of the flight simulator that you're using. Thanks!!
Thank you Sir
Most welcome
can you made one video related to the numericals of q codes which do come in met and nav examination?
Sure, I'll try and put it up soon!
Sir the Video was really helpful but my doubt is ISA lapse rate for pressure is 1hPa per 27 feet
This means that every 27ft you climb up, the atmospheric pressure will drop by 1 Hpa
QUESTION
If the QNH is more than QNE (1013hPa) at the airfield (take for eg 1030hPa) how does the transition altitude work then? does the aircraft have to lower its altitude ?
Hello again and thank you once again for your amazing explanations and visuals. However, your visual representation at 30:18 I believe is not correct. Indicated altitude of 9,000 and 11,000 with correctly updated QNH settings would keep them at separated by ~2000ft. Their altimeters would not read 10000ft if they had the correct QNH set unless they were both flying at 10000ft indicated, and ATC would certainly not clear them both to 10000ft.
I believe the potential danger is if one or both a/c do not update the QNH to the correct setting and descends (QNH high to low), or climbs (QNH low to high) into the incorrect indicated (QNH) altitude. In your example, 11000ft indicated = 11000 QNH 1020 = 9000ft @ QNH 990 (unadjusted from QNH 1020). To stay at 11000ft indicated the QNH would need to be updated in time to avoid descending into the a/c at 9000ft that was flying with the correct QNH 990. Put another way if the a/c at 11000ft QNH 1020 did not update his altimeter to QNH 990 he would be 2000ft lower than indicated.
By having all a/c fly FL's based off QNE avoids the possibility of a/c having incorrect altimeter settings and therefore flying at incorrect FL's.
Let me know if I am not understanding it correctly. Thank you for your time.
It's too amazing !! And can you please share about which software have you used for simulator in pc ? It'll help me please sir ❤️
Hi, thanks a lot. I used the X-Plane 11
@@blueskiesandtailwinds6004 I became your biggest fan thank you ! I cleared Meteorology with 84 marks
Clear 🙂✌🏻
Sorry, but your explanation and definition of QNE is incorrect. This seems to be a common misconception all over the internet, from some sources that should know better. What you are describing as QNE is the Standard Pressure Setting (SPS or STD). QNE is a different thing altogether. QNE is not a Subscale Setting, it is an altitude reading, more specifically it is the indicated altitude of an aircraft on the ground, at the runway threshold, with 1013 set on the subscale. It is used very rarely, in conditions of extremely low atmospheric pressure when the QNH or QFE is so low it is past the range of the Altimeter Subscale and so is impossible to set.
Hi, thanks for this. Yes, noted that it is not a sub-scale setting but the reading on the altimeter when you set 1013! Cheers
@@blueskiesandtailwinds6004 It isn't a sub-scale setting at all.
@@ClanLawrence yeah! thanks. I wanted to say the same thing in the video, that it is what we read on the altimeter.
Sir have you done your cpl from cadet pilot programme
@@DevanshSharma-vg4oy no, i did it through the conventional method.
Q An airfield is 2500' above MSL. QNH is 1008 hPa. find QFE ?
924.67
which simular applicaion you are usin
That’s X-plane 11
I have a question, if I am coming in for landing at an airport am I going to set QNH or QFE?
Hi, you will set QNH, because everything is calibrated around the aerodrome according to the QNH. The height of all obstructions around an aerodrome are given with respect to the sea level.
So you set QNH on the altimeter sub-scale before landing and after you have landed, you will read the airport elevation on the altimeter.
Hope this clears your doubt!
Sir from where this 20 came in middle in qnh
Bro please apload more videos for us
