    Thanks for this.
    How do you do this process with video included? I need to import and export video & Dolby Atmos mix from Cubase Pro 13 (&/or Davinci Resolve Studio 18.6) so that it can be played on a Dolby Atmos enabled system and TV.
    Do you know how this is done?

    • @michaelgwagner
      @michaelgwagner  10 місяців тому +1

      That is tricky. The standard way would be an IMF deliverable which you can create with the paid version of DaVinci. But that is only a deliverable for streaming platforms so you would need to convert that IMF bundle to something you can play on your system. And I honestly don’t have experience doing that.

    There is also something not in line with the ATMOS for music specs. The file is only one. It has to be 3. 1 Audio multichannel file and 2 metadata files. hence the export of DaVinci is not compliant and not usable for Dolby Atmos for music

    • @michaelgwagner
      @michaelgwagner  2 роки тому

      You probably mean an atmos file set. That is a different file format, but holds the same info. You can use the Dolby Atmos conversion tool to convert the ADM file into an atmos file set.

    I can export a BWF from Fairlight. It plays correctly when imported back into Fairlight but not not when played by Qicktime or Chrome. Those apps put the Bed only on the front speakers and the Objects on my rear surround speakers. All front to back panning seems to be lost. Do you have any idea what might be causing this? Thanks.

    • @michaelgwagner
      @michaelgwagner  7 місяців тому +1

      That BWF is an Atmos masterfile. Quicktime/Chrome can’t play that correctly. You would first have to encode that to a quality control deliverable in mp4. And the only ways to do that is either through the Dolby Atmos Renderer or via Amazon AWS mediaconvert.

    Thanks for the great video & knowledge! I've got another issue. I've mixed and exported an Atmos file in Nuendo and imported the ADM file into Davinci. but (other than IMF) I can't find a suitable codec to render to to share with my client (video with Atmos audio). Any ideas?

    • @michaelgwagner
      @michaelgwagner  2 роки тому +1

      I think you need a special licence to render Atmos video. What you could do is use channel based audio (ideally 9.1.6), render it regularly and the use AWS MediaConvert to convert to DD+ JOC.

    Danke für dieses Video 👍. Ich habe bereits es mit dem "großen" Video (Link) ausprobiert und heute auch mit der Schnellübersicht - für die Objekte (Bass) bekomme ich keinen räumlichen Panner in DaVinci angezeigt 😕, so wie für das eigentlich Dolby-"Bett". Mache ich da etwas falsch?

    • @michaelgwagner
      @michaelgwagner  2 роки тому

      It could be that the panner is not enabled in the mixing window preferences. I forgot what the default setting are for the mixer, but I vaguely remember that I had to first enable that as well. Click on the three dots on the top right corner of the mixing window and check if the panner is enabled.

    • @lordcannon2020
      @lordcannon2020 2 роки тому +1

      @@michaelgwagner I'll stick with German - it's a lot easier for me 😁 Die Panner sind aktiviert. Erhalte aber für die Objekte nur einen 2-dimensionalen Panner dargestellt. Mache es jetzt so, dass ich auch die Objekte mit dem Bus assigniert habe, den Panner öffne (erhalte einen 3-dimensionalen Regler) und dann die Assignierung der Objekt zu Bus 1 aufhebe. Der 3-dimensionale Regler bleibt dann bis zum Schließen erhalten 😉 Big thanks for your videos and tutorials

    • @michaelgwagner
      @michaelgwagner  2 роки тому

      Ahh, thank you! I did not notice that before because I usually use a separate bus for the bed and route all objects into another 7.1.4 bus for reasons that should become obvious in a future video.
      If you connect the objects directly into the Atmos Renderer you will only get the 2d panner. In order to see the 3d panner, they need to also be connected to a bus in a 3d immersive audio format.
      To do this add a second bus in 7.1.2 or 7.1.4 and route the audio output of the objects into that bus. Make sure that this second bus is not routed back into the bed so that it does not reach the renderer twice. If you have the track direct of the objects set to the Atmos renderer, you should now be able to pan them with the 3d panner.
      Seems to be an oversight that the panner is not automatically changed from 2d to 3d when the track directs are connected to the Atmos renderer.

    Any thoughts on what Dolby talks down as “nearfield mixing” (aka a home theater/studio setup) versus the “Cinematic RMU” ? I’m an independent filmmaker, and I’ve had excellent success mastering 5.1 for short films in a home theater. The resulting DCP looked and sounded fantastic (and accurate to my “nearfield” experience.) I’d love to do some upcoming projects in Atmos, but it’s not clear wether this would even be “allowed” via their system

    • @Fennworld
      @Fennworld Рік тому

      From everything I've encountered the only kosher way to get theatrical ATMOS is via Dolby Certification and using their cinematic RMU to generate the .MXF (which the usual DCP creation packages will wrap without issue).

    1. Can we do a 7.2.6 or 7.1.4 dolby panning in Ableton on windows and on headphones?
    2. Can we increse Bus and Send in Patch: Input/Output tab in Davinci?
    I've a short film, trying it to mix in Dolby Atmos. I do not have pro tools or mac or dolby production suite or dolby hardwares. Well, that’s a lot of pleases. Lol. Ableton is limited to stereo but you can get around that with m4l. I have not checked if there are good solutions for panning 7.1.4. Regardless, you would need the external renderer if you work with Ableton. Not quite sure if I understand the second question.

      @@michaelgwagner hey Michael thanks for your reply. Can you please explain what is m4l? And my second question is:-
      We know that davinci has 10 bed and 118 object for dolby. But can we increse it? Like I've a made a short film. It has 250 tracks (in sound design) and 100 tracks (in scores). So it's obvious that it'll not fit in the given 10 bed and 118 object in dolby. Can I somehow increase it? If not then what's the solution for this?

    • @michaelgwagner
      @michaelgwagner  2 роки тому

      m4l is Max 4 live. Ableton adopted that as their scripting environment. The 128 channels are a limitation in the Dolby Atmos specs. That is a hard limit.

      this is correct due to (indeed very old) smpte standard in analog days the synchronizing commonly started on 60 minutes,
      but this either used to be 24 or 25 frames per second
      the confusion starts if your project settings are 30fps or whatsoever.

      should place it correctly.
      on 24 frames 1hr is 86400 smtpe frames (hope this is right i am really bad with math)

    great 😃 yes DaVinci has not the binaural. It's like to have made a creat beautiful body, forgetting a foot. But it was made for cinema (weak justification endeavour) and up there, binaural is not an option. Although I find that, because Atmos Music is today a reality and because Blackmagick design gives this feature, it will be nice if they will put a binaural export AND monitoring. A turnaround is to buy (again money) Binauralizer Studio. It downmixes 7.1.4 to binaural. But agian: will it work with DaVinci? My question is legitimate, because I experienced that not all the VSTs are visible (for some reason) to DaVinci.
    Or, to spend 995USD on top of DaVinci, to buy Dolby Renderer ...

    • @i.a.m-poornasrikarm
      @i.a.m-poornasrikarm 2 роки тому

      It will not work unfortunately . Because there is no "master" track to apply an effect as we are dis engaging our track directs from the bus to a Dolby Atmos send , it's a permanent one way send and there is no way to get back the 7.1.4 before it goes to our interface . It would have been great if they enabled fx option atleast in the b-chain view of Immersive audio tab

Hence the rendering must be correctly implemented by Dolby and I am sure they did otherwise Dolby Atmos Cinema Theatres will not reproduce Atmos audio on to those fancy 64 speakers .
