    LOL I always thought if I had a small living space attached to a garage, it would be the perfect house. Having lived in 5000+ square foot homes, I found I lived in just a couple of rooms and spent most of my time in the 3 car garage. Now if I could just find a home that had a smaller living space and a good size garage. You have found it. Good going! A dream home for a man!

    • @Mandy7D7
      @Mandy7D7 3 роки тому +2

      Maybe you could build one? If that is your dream you should go for it. Home is the most important place for our mental well-being. Whether it's on a tiny boat on the ocean or a nice big garage with a tiny house, home should be everything you need/want.

    • @bobhamilton298
      @bobhamilton298 3 роки тому +2

      @@Mandy7D7 I agree. I have a good setup at this point. I have a large 2 car garage with a shop setup inside. Still don't need much room inside the house. So I have a bedroom turned into a large library and use another bedroom as a work area with sewing machine and work space for working on electronics and other small projects. And as I can work at my job remotely as long as I have Internet, I try to spend time on the boat.

    That former gas station could be a sailboat repair facility in much of the same way Atomvoyages.com has built two carport style roofs in the backyard to keep boats out of the sun and rain while being worked on. Sam is the only person I have seen that undertakes difficult repairs while sailing solo offshore, so Sam's boat repair skills are already very good. Charge $50 per hour for labor on a 2,000 hour year that is $100K. Do that for 2-3 years then sail off into the sunset for another world cruise.

    Nice score on the old garage. You've got your work cut out for you cleaning it out and fixing it up. Might want to check into the possibility it is a hazardous waste site. Most old gas stations have gasoline plumes underground that limit what can be done there. But the place does have some potential. You're young and full of energy and are at the right point in your life to take on a project like that and the boat project and be footloose and fancy free to travel the world. For those of us who have gone down those paths in different ways in different eras, it's fun to watch your version of it.

    Vintage garage/car parts are collected by people and that tractor you should advertise on a sales website because many people want those old tractors. Keep the stick welder it is always great to have when you need one and that one is simple and rather easy to use. I agree with the other people here a garage sale would put a few dollar’s in your pocket. Just look up some prices on those cabinets that are related to car parts they just might surprise you what people are paying for that stuff.

    I recognize that this might not not be the best medium for thrifting, but I saw a small trophy at the 6:25 mark in the video and I would love to buy it (and pay the shipping of course). I work at a small summer camp in GA; we're always doing little games/shows/challenges among the campers as moral boosters, and I kid you not have have been looking for something just like that for years now and have not found something that fits the part. To be able to give the convoluted backstory of how the trophy came into the camp's possession would make for a fun provinance that would be so enjoyable to explain to a group of kids. Again, I recognize the weirdness of this request, no harm if it's too much trouble!

    Having paid rental on storage for tools and stuff for far too many years I agree this is a much better option! There's so much you have to work with there. You can probably list that old antique tractor and get it sold fairly quickly.

    Nothing wrong with having a home base to work out of. In the long run it will probably be a good investment.

    That’s great. I hope that you saw Paul wells on transporting your boat. He is a Triton marine. Great people there. They moved my 37 foot boat for me and did a great job for a reasonable price. Good luck with the projects and surgery. We live just a few miles from Oriental.

    Just imagine all the privateers and pirate ships you’d see out there a couple hundred years ago.NC coast had a huge pirate presence. Black beards stomping grounds
