- In this video I am going to show you How to Make A Witch Hat out of 2mm EVA Foam! This is a super easy DIY Tutorial and with a Free PDF Pattern that is perfect for your Cosplay or last minute Halloween costume! I walk you through the processes I took to make my custom pattern as well as my acrylic painting techniques. Great for Cosplay this hat has a very anime cartoon style to it that can easily be customized to fit numerous characters. This tutorial also has my Free Templates that you can download and build right along with the video. This is definitely the kind of Halloween craft project that would be great to build with your kids so feel free to scale the PDF to fit little witches and warlocks too and if you are using my templates please tag me so I can see your creations!

The wire on the inside works so well with the foam! I've done a couple witch hats for cosplay before - one fabric, and one foam (covered in fabric to match the costume) but this just works so neatly and so well, it's going to stay in my cosplay brain bank forever! Thank you!

@@elcatrinc1996 In the Discworld book series, they have witches and wizards. One wizard is so bad at it, he's the magical equivalent of the number 0. He also wrote 'wizzard' on his hat for no known reason.

I was actually thinking about making a large witch hat with foam for I-No (from Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2)
I figured the foam would hold It's shape and also give it an interesting leathery texture after paint... So this video could not appear to me at a better time. ♥

Another thing that works well for shaping hats is HEAVY aluminum foil. I fold it into a thick piece to glue or sew down. I am looking forward to working with foam after 30+ years of leather crafting!

Also I was wondering when do you prefer one foam primer over another? Ive seen Flexbond, Plastidip, Plaid FX, and more. I used to use Plastidip more often but it gave bad results with metallics because of the spray texture. Flexbond on the other hand leaves brush strokes and unwanted uneven surfaces. Any tips?
First off Thanks! I just recently have been putting a lot of effort into UA-cam so hopefully my channel can grow. As far as primers I like showing a variety because some people can't use plasti dip because they live in apartments or close quarters. that's where flexbond is good as a nontoxic alternative. I will say that I use plasti dip more than any other but have been told by friends to start looking into creature cast,a rubber that can be sprayed or brushed. More importantly it can be wet sanded.
