Last year i had loads of tomatoes ripen but this year, like you, my first one was 5th September - and in the same polytunnel - so I think it is the weather - may be the rainy July?. Anyway, they are all ripening now thank goodness. Keep the videos coming Emma please - I love them. Also I have the same spider problem - I'm waving a stick too

Aww how sweet is that fox, clearly one of the plot holders/ local houses has become friends with it and probably hand feeds it, making it comfortable with humans, which is nice but scary for it, at the same time coz not all humans are kind

We live not much further north than you, we are just north of hertfordshire, all our tomatoes are green except for the indigo ones that are black on top with red underneath. Strange that up North even as far north as Northumberland Utubers are getting loads of ripe toms. Even Worcestshire they are ripening well. A couple of others who live in the London area are having the same problem as you. Good luck.

Everytime I eat a banana the skin goes into a jug. I pop warm water on it. Leave it to soak overnight. Syphon liquid into a bottle and pour it over my tomatoes at the allotment. Has worked well this season. Don't have a poly-tunnel and the tomatoes were twice knocked down in storms during the summer but just restaked them and they are producing oodles. Next season am going to do a pumpkin arch like yours. It's so sweet !

Overfed tomatoes, ie: too much nitrogen, won't turn red, either. Nitrogen is the main thing in the liquid tomato fertilizer I've seen you use and it seems that you usually use more than the recommended dosage, LOL! So you may have too much nitrogen in your soil. If that is the problem, you won't be able to do much this year. Mulch heavily, let the soil rest, and try again next year. Just one thing to consider. 🙂

Hi Emma, I am new to your channel and absolutely love it! It’s so encouraging to see someone else in their early years of learning to grow produce , learning through trial and errors. I am in my second year of learning to grow produce currently in my garden as I don’t have a allotment (I am considering getting one at some point or maybe just use my mum’s garden heehee)
Anyway I want to comment on the Slug issue … although slugs (and their snail buddies) are a pain in the butt (you can never get rid of them completely)… they do have two good points 😳 1) they play a valuable part in the composting process 😁…so I relocate them to my compost bin (or I put them in my green waste bin when it’s green waste collection heehee) .
    2) some birds, frogs, toads, hedgehogs, slow worms and ground beetles eat them 😁 so I attract birds to my garden such feeding station, grow teasel & sunflowers and wildly grown blackberries etc (I haves fruit cage to prevent birds getting the raspberries & strawberries) , I have a mini wildlife pond (there are 1 or 2 toads in my garden and they definitely eat snails…evidence of empty shells of where I found a toad 😁)
Look forward to your next video 😁

I sowed mine early this year, 5th February instead of 5th March, and I won't be doing it again, but maybe it can work if you have a green house or polytunnel (I'm in London). I have neither so was reliant on the weather warming up before being able to relocate my plants outside. I had to keep them on the grow mat, when they were far too big, to ensure the plant got the nutrients from the compost because the ambient temperature, even indoors, was too cold. I initially hardened my toms too early, and had to bring them back inside after trying to put them outside from the end of March. By the time the weather was good enough for them to go out, they were in a poor state but recovered well but I just didn't make any gains from the earlier sowing times.

20:06 me and my fiance have been wondering, do you possibly have ADHD? I hope it's not too weird to ask, but we relate to you in ways, and recently the doctors have told us we may have it.
    So you never know?
If you do know, do not feel obliged to say if you do or not.
It is your choice whether you disclose any medical info lol (no pressure basically 😅) ✌️

Have you cut back your leaves? I cut back my leaves about 4 weeks ago and my tomatos started rippening within the week, slowly, but I've had to large harvests now and have been dehydrating the tomatos over the 2 weeks. I see another 2 large harvests for tomatoes that are due to ripen over the next fortnight.
