Oh my gosh, I was just thinking the exact thing. Obviously, we know the outcome and I'm watching it like its live all over again. I'm in bed about to go to sleep and when Cooper caught that bomb I wanted to jump up start yelling.
That’s what beat us ………..the tiring of the defense by his running. And then all of a sudden……….a f@&$ing pass in the last 3 minutes of the game.Super smart coaching.Nothing other then.Nick Saban KNEW Ga had the best DEFENSE IN THE COUNTRY!You see what he said at the end of the game.
Not a fan of either team but it was obvious that the winner of this game was going to win the national championship. So yes, this was the real championship game.
@globalicon2012 yeah right we own the big 10 we own all conferences, SEC by far the best it's 2020 now the beat goes on Notre Dame is pathetic, so is the big 10 but I like all big 10 teams better than Notre lame
The TJ Yeldon run on 3rd and 5 at 17:50 was the biggest single individual effort offensive play in this game that won it. Obviously Mosely individual defensive play at the end sealed it.
yea its pretty hard to tell a guy who you've been screaming at everyday to CATCH THE BALL to then not catch it when the game is down to its last couple of plays. tough to do.
+BigTen Buckeye I swear osu fans are the worst. They win one championship and think that they're the best team that has ever been and will ever be. Win 3 in 4 years then come talk about being champs.
2010-2014 was probably the best era ever In cfb because you had so much talent and great QBs , you had aj , murry , mettenburger, johnny football , tyler Wilson , bray ,moriota , Barkley , Landry jones , Braxton miller , jt barret ,Winston. I'm missing some but that era of QBs and the competition was amazing and now for the next couple years there won't be anywhere near to the great amount of QBs un cfb
I know it’s over 10 years ago, but this game, my god what a great game Also, @4:01, that might be the best goal line stand I’ve ever seen/heard. When I heard that live, as not even an SEC fan I launched off my couch
Greatest football game I will probably ever go to, so much was on the line. I've never heard the Georgia dome that loud since then. I didn't think Bama had it in them after they returned the kick back. But after that it was on, truly an amazing game.
So wild to see how much the quarterbacks, although made big throws, didn’t matter as much as the running game. This was 5/6 years ago a. It is amazing to watch the game change. Love it.
What I like about Alabama is their confident about the game. When they lead they can find a way to finish. When things didn't go their way, just like this game when the FG was blocked for a TD and they lost momentum, they can always gather together and find a way to come back. They don't give up and don't panic. Just like this year's national championship game. Of course give Georgia a lot of credits. They dragged Bama into last second for both games
Eddie Lacy was a stud at Alabama and his NFL career got off to a hot start with Green Bay, before it flamed out. Todd Gurley was a beast for Georgia and knee injuries derailed his NFL career with the Rams.
I'm still throughly convinced that if UGA had time for one more play they would've gotten done. Poor dude just reacted to the ball like any recover would. Credit to Bama they defected the ball and made the plays when they had to.
Maybe they would have maybe they wouldn't it's hard to say but I do know after that INT was overturned the bama defense seemed out of whack, I think even saban said something about that after the game. But yeah it was sad to see a lot of people come down hard on the dude that caught the ball, anybody else would have did the same thing because they're trained to catch balls not drop them plus the pass was never originally intended for him it got tipped his way an he caught it out of instinct knowing two bama defenders were around that might pick it off.
Well, since this is the last time Georgia and Alabama played, it certainly adds to the excitement, intensity, and build-up to the October 3, 2015 game when the Crimson Tide visits Athens. The average asking price for tickets in the secondary market (StubHub and SeekGeek, etc.) is about $1500 for a decent pair. That stadium will be absolutely electric. The excitement will be about like a rock concert by U2, The Rolling Stones, and Bruce Springsteen rolled into one (and heck, since the game is in Athens, let's reunite REM, too). Based on what Alabama did to Wisconsin, they have to be the favorites. Both coaches like to run, but Alabama's offensive line is easily the best in college football. Their offensive line (and Lacy) won the 2012 Championship Game. Georgia's defense is young and I don't see them stopping Alabama on the ground any more effectively than in this game. Georgia also has a good offensive line, just not as good as Alabama's, and some great backs, but Alabama's defense looked like an immovable object against Wisconsin. (Where was that defense against Ohio State?) Georgia will need to have a balanced attack to move the ball and with a new quarterback, and young receivers, their passing game is suspect. I don't think home field will have any effect. In 2007, Georgia beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa; in 2008, Alabama won in Athens. Georgia is more likely to have a loss. South Carolina has beaten them 4 of the last 5 years, including 2012, when they crushed this Georgia team 35-7, their only other loss. The evil genius seems to have their number. I don't see Alabama losing again to Ol' Miss. If both teams are 4-0, I think this helps Georgia because it would be demoralizing to lose again to SC. I'd make Alabama 10 to 14 point favorites. Georgia will need some breaks. If they can get a couple of turnovers, a special teams touchdown, and keep it close into the fourth quarter when the crowd can make a difference, it's a pick-em game. I hope so, because the excitement that makes college football the world's greatest spectator sport will be palpable, much as it was in the truly great 2012 Championship game.
I don't get all the comments that UGA "should have spiked the ball" The only time you need to spike the ball is when you don't have a play ready. It's obvious UGA had already been prepared for the first and goal situation and had a play ready. They ran it. Moseley deflected it, the short guy caught it, and slipped. Had it been incomplete, they still would have had another play, totalling two plays, same as they would have had had they spiked the ball. The guy caught the ball by pure instinct. ANY other player in the country would have done the same. It's just not in our nature to drop a pass we can catch.
+Ben Harper No shit. Whoa....you really know your football! NOT. Like I said, they had a play ready, no need to stop the clock, but I get it. You're just a tad too stupid to understand. "Derr, spike it! Dat's what I woulda do!" 'Cause, you know. You're stupid. You would NOT have a play ready. Because you're an idiot.
JoshRice123 No. They don't. Dumbass. Even Gary Danielson, an ex-NFL quarterback, said to Richt's credit, they had a play ready. Why do you need to stop the clock when you have something you've practiced for this very situation?!? Just let people who know the game a bit deeper, like me,than the perspective of a fan, like you, give analysis of the situation. Really, you make yourself look stupid and uninformed when you put forth such asinine musings. Jackass.
Why the hate towards UGA? Both teams played well, Bama came out on top. No need to hate on UGA for anything, esp if you're an SEC fan. Hate on schools / conferences that are hating on us as a whole, not on an SEC team of 4 years ago that played well and barely lost to a slightly better SEC team.
In retrospect I wonder if that blocked punt for the TD hurt UGA. Had to send the defense right back out on the field to try to slow down the Bama running back tandem. Georgia's D was pretty gassed by the end of the game. Regardless what a game. Go Dawgs!
It’s so ironic to me how Georgia takes a big lead over bama in this game just like they did in the sec championship game this year and also in the national championship game and end up losing lol man Georgia just can’t seem to get past bama
After coming back to this game six years later. I realized there is one thing kirby should have learned from watching Richt. How to draw up and execute a fake punt 🤦♂️
Not really a lot of skill players that could play in space. More smash mouth back then. One elite receiver, two good college running backs. They certainly have more weapons now. This team was about the championship mentality of AJ McCarron and that mean nasty offensive line. Up until this point (2012), this was my favorite championship version of Bama, although I thought the 2010 team was more talented than this one. What are your thoughts? I like this team the best because the level of QBs they faced was better than other championship teams (2009, 2011). And, they won 2/3 of their toughest games, all of which could have went the other way. They could have lost this one and the LSU game, and they almost came back and won the Johnny Manziel game...The quality of games this particular season still has not been matched. They been smashing people unmercifully (except Clemson and Ohio State). In this 2012 season, they truly earned it. Up until Jalen Hurts worked his magic in relief this past season, this was still my favorite Bama-Georgia game.
I think college football fans who remember the 2012 season will agree, this SEC Championship between Alabama and Georgia was the "real" National Championship game that year. I would've loved to see these two have a rematch instead of the joke Alabama - Notre Dame title game we got.
The back shoulder throw to Malcom Mitchell at the pylon...Mike Bobo said that they had worked endlessly on that play but the tip by a out of position Bama linebacker won it for them....Boy, the Dome shook when Arthur Lynch got it down the the 8, Dawg fans could just smell it.............DadGummit............
I have heard that after the 1973 Sugar bowl loss to Notre Dame. Which ended 24-23. That Coach Bryant said “We didn’t lose the game, we just ran out of time.” I’m a life long Bama fan. I bleed Crimson. But to all of you Dawg fans I’m saying. Y’all didn’t lose the game. The Dawgs just ran out of time.
In hindsight 13:01 was the play of the game. If Bama just kicks or the 2 pt conversion is unsuccessful Georgia has the chance to kick a fg at the end for the win or overtime

I am a Florida fan but your alls offense is absolutely loaded for next year. What can you say about Bama, they are on a roll like I have never seen and look to be the favorites again this year.
It's the "break the Georgia Bulldogs heart" bowl. Georgia vs Alabama in Atlanta just hasnt been good to Georgia. 2012 SEC Title Game 2018 CFP National Championship 2018 SEC Title Game
This is without a doubt THE greatest SEC Championship game EVER and one of the greatest games in the past decade or so
JenoEXOProxy23X yea it went back and forth. big boy football and indeed prob best game ever. I could see TV covering this game again
I’m gonna have to agree with you on that. The back to back. Man, was this game memorable.
I think this years was just as good too
They just out did themselves
Alabama and Georgia may have outdone themselves this year tho. Man seems like every time these two teams play a big game, it's a classic.
I'm a Miami Hurricanes fan for life. But I'll be damned if the SEC isn't what football is all about. Best conference on earth.
Best game in SEC Championship history.
Until they ran it back in 2018.
Corderrol Harris I still think this one was way better than the 2018 one.
L auburn alabama is better
1992 was the best
As a Georgia fan, this was simultaneously the best football game I have watched and the worst football game that I have watched.

It’s so weird to see Kirby celebrating at 21:50 now......

You can never go wrong with the SEC on CBS theme!
Mr SportsGuy13 I agree man! Just takes you back right to the moment
I never have seen more clean, vicious tackling in college football than in this one game.
Man Lacy was such a beast, it’s a shame he wasn’t able to stay in shape in the league cuz he had a crazy combo of speed and power that year

Such a physical game was, this should have been the championship game. Notre Dame was no match for Alabama that year. Go Dawgs
randy kim It definitely was the NC. Much respect to your dawgs, they would've dismantled ND in similar fashion.
+marktastic86 Sadly Georgia has not been right since.
Allen Greene shut up -_-
Not a fan of either team but it was obvious that the winner of this game was going to win the national championship. So yes, this was the real championship game.
@globalicon2012 Ohio State cake walks in a weak conference until they let an unranked team run them off the field at least once a year.
This was that year's national championship game. Notre Dame was pathetic.
Jake R my thoughts exactly
Bet
Jake R during that period of time, the SEC Championship generally was the championship game. So right.
Yep Notre Dame didn't even deserve to be in it, too easy
@globalicon2012 yeah right we own the big 10 we own all conferences, SEC by far the best it's 2020 now the beat goes on Notre Dame is pathetic, so is the big 10 but I like all big 10 teams better than Notre lame

The only time you need to spike the ball is when you don't have a play ready. It's obvious UGA had already been prepared for the first and goal situation and had a play ready. They ran it. Moseley deflected it, the short guy caught it, and slipped. Had it been incomplete, they still would have had another play, totalling two plays, same as they would have had had they spiked the ball. 2012 SEC Title Game
2018 CFP National Championship
2018 SEC Title Game
You can add the 2021 SEC championship though I'm sure that one doesn't sting as quite as bad as the other 3 losses lol
Last two Georgia vs Alabama games have been good
Jordan Reynolds forget the game in 2015 but yep last two championship games they've played have been classics
Todd gurly was attacking bama defense. Uga should spike the ball
God that was a great game
A game to remember How does this UA vs UG compare vs the UA vs UG game in 2018?
