Lock lubes: That aerosol graphite you showed is messy as a baby’s diaper. I’d suggest the powdered form in the small 6” long tube. I’ve had one of those for about 30 years now. Delivers more material and way easier to control. And thumbs up on the “no WD40” comment.
Talking about "death wobble" in bikes. I had 86' Yamaha Venture Royale that had death wobble right at 35mph, every time. If I powered through 35mph I powered through death wobble. I checked everything from tire balance too tire roundness, an wobble remained after some study. So I went too source an called Yamaha in Japan. Told them problem an my attempts too fix. (Which they liked!) Here is Yamahas fix for wheel wobble on shaft drive bike: Put bike on center stand. Just Loosen Engine Mounting Bolts (just loosen, do not remove bolts from engine). Get on bike in riding position. Start engine. Let it warm at low rpm. Then rev slightly an decelerate too shift into first gear. Then accelerate RPMs an shift into 2nd, then rev an shift into 3rd, until your revved through gears to high gear. Just like your riding, rev an now down shift through all gears smoothly until your back at first. Do this shifting process for two more runs revving smoothly through the gears up an then down shifting 3 times. Then let engine cool an re-torq engine bolts, in order. They said shifting up an down through gears helps re-aligned the engine an drive line. I didn't go nuts with the engine revs an kept my actions smooth, didn't burn myself tightening engine bolts. An wall la! They're operation fixed the constant wheel wobble. Never had wheel wobble again!
Finally!!! Got answered how spray key holes, ignition switch and didn’t know there’s spray !!! Thank you!! My dad has can that I inherited is 50 years olde!! ( 32 oz something) sprayer was olde and shot. Oh well…
Scott- a motorcycle shop in my area damaged my saddlebag where you would bleed the brakes so all the damage was near the wheel and not on the painted outside. The shop owner owed up to the mistake and fiberglassed the area and molded the material so it worked correctly. He was a motocross rider who was always having to patch his bikes so he had this small job done in a couple of days and I believe it is more durable than anything on the bike. Readers might look into this and if it is a noticeable area you might could skim with a sandable-paintable material like bondo.
Bit late but saw video where thinking stoping riding .since i started my job riding for a living its really last thing want to ride a bike .which for someone bikes been my happy place.ironically just brought old 1984 goldwing.but rest may well recharge your enjoment.as for web site of course u can carry on.your amazing commitment is incredable i enjoy your videos.thank you.
I had to wait a week, but my local Honda Powersports guy found me a matching set of Bridgestones for my wing. Not what I wanted, but it got the bike inspected!
I appreciate all the information. My bike looks just like yours, 1990 SE with 51K miles. I paid $3500.00 for it with a Corbin Saddle on it. I also have a 1982 GL100 I that I am turning into a cruiser.
My GL1800's handlebars will typically start to do a wobble between 30 to 50 mph if you remove your hands from the bars. Bike handles great otherwise and will corner as well as a sportbike despite its 800+ lb. weight. My old H2 Kaw 750 triple would do that between 105-110 mph but silky smooth above and below that. You just hang on tight! Cool video, thanks Scott!
I already had a Kury fork brace but after fitting Progressive Suspension mono-cartridges and a Traxxion Dynamics' triple tree to my '04 GL1800, the 40mph hands-free wobble is no more. The front end now has no play at all when on the move. The 01-17 standard triple tree is moosh.
I do not have a Goldwing and I do not know how I landed here but I am glad to hear somone finally gives the right answer to how to use WD40 or where not tu use it
Hello Scott, thanks for the video. The book says to check the oil every time you put gas in the motorcycle. The method you described fits. Also never use aftermarket handle bars because the Honda one has weights in the ends that help reduce the wobble. Have a great day!
@@wimphilipsen2651 I'm inclined to agree . Thankfully if not experienced it but when towing a caravan, if the caravan starts to snake, "tail wagging the dog", which has happened to me, accelerating and braking makes it worse. You hold the steering wheel straight with the help of knees and take your foot of the pedals to decelerate slowly. I'm thinking the same applies to a death wobble. I hope I never have to find out.
1989 GL1500 I'm 220lbs in riding gear and wife is 320lbs. Nowadays w don't ride if there could be rain and I'm very safety minded regarding twisties. I think we would be a good candidate for daksiding the rear but as to which exact tire has got me in analysis paralysis. So my bike sits unridden due to rear tire wear.
I just had to replace my rear tire on my 1993 GL1500SE I found them at a web site Dennis Kirk, cost was competitive and they were delivered Via UPS in three days when the website said it would take 7days.Dealers here around Pittsburgh, Pa told me that they could get me one but it would take almost a month. Hope this helps someone out.
Hello Scott, great videos mate, really enjoy them. I have always wanted and have now bought a 1997 GL 1500 SE.....what a bike !!! My question(s) 1, The hazard lights button is really stiff and sometimes 'sticks in' How to fix that? 2, The cruise control button is stuck 'in' however when I took the switch apart there is no wiring for the CC button. How would you fix that? 3...and last question, under the SE panel, bottom left of the bike at the rear, looks like a homemade DIY wiring job, is there a lighting diagram and how would you go about putting the wiring back to standard? Many thanks Dave in the UK
Hey Scott. I enjoy your channel, lots of good info. When my mom got sick and needed 24/7 care, I let my 94' GL 1500 SE sit for about 12 years. didn't ride it or start it. I went out 3 days ago and charged it up and amazingly it started on the 3rd try. I took a test drive, and the battery was dead in about 30 minutes. The dog bone fuse is good. I also noticed my cruise control light is on and will not go out when the c/c is turned off. Any ideas? thanks, Dean
Hi my name is Bob I have a Suzuki GSL 400 motorcycle I get blow by oil and gas coming out off my blow-by can you tell me what would could be the problem what can I do to fix this thank you Bob Jensen
Why is it when i hit my brakes on my 1999 honda goldwing 1500a Aspencade I get a swishing sound only when I hit my brake for the rear but my back brake is ok it's just my front left rotor. I replace my rear brake Master Cylinder because it was leaking so I figured it was that. But after.i replaced it it still makes the noise. Oh yea I checked the pads and they were good but I replaced them anyway thinking I had a bad pad set. Do u think I have to replace rotor? Or change the type of pad im using? It a ceramic thanks in advance! Love the videos!!!

Really good explanation on the suspension, along with classic bloopers too. Thank you.
I’m on board! Love the Q&A’s!!! Please keep them coming.

I did not know brake fluid was so destructive to abs plastic. Looks like I will be removing the left saddle bag before bleeding the rear brake.

Stop a deathwobble with accelarate the bike will only putt more energy in the wobble. Bad idea I think.

My cruse control is sticking on. What is the fix for this issue?
cycle gear for tires

Death wobble = round honda steering head bearings, change to “all balls tapered head bearings” wobble gone. My experience!
Scott, couldn't find any link in the description about the grafite?
Go to the big box stores look near their locks. They also have it in small tube.

Is there a proper gap between the calliper holder and the left fork? There is a feeler gauge for that in the tool kit. Maybe?
@@kensmith3665 Yes i check it and it's good. I'm either thinking it cheap pads or I have to replace the rotor. Thank you for the reply!
The hog victim caption is a good public service film to advocate wearing protective gear nomatter what the temperature.
