  • When replacing your vehicle's windshield should you get OEM glass or Aftermarket glass? Most aftermarket glass isn't much different than factory glass, the main difference is an oem or factory glass will have a vehicles factory logo printed on the glass. OEM glass is also normally more expensive than aftermarket glass, so if you are paying out of pocket and not using your insurance most likely it would be cheaper for you to buy the aftermarket windshield. We are located in Jackson Hole Wyoming and taking care of all your windshield needs.

On an older car, the original windshield withstood 8 years with no issues or cracking, despite getting hit by pebbles on the motorway. The replacement was ok for about 2 years, as soon as it met its first pebble, it was gone. And it was the same manufacturer, “only missing the logo”… same manufacturer DOESN’T mean the same quality… oem are more stringently certified. At best, you’d get a failed oem that is logo-less and sold as aftermarket. At worst, it’s a 1 hit situation….

We live in an area that is covered with rock on the road and all sorts of debris. Just unlucky sometimes how the rock hits the glass. We have had people get their windshield replaced one week after they got their brand new car with factory glass and have other people go years without replacing their aftermarket glass. Both cases of us installing OEM and Aftermarket doesnt seem to really seem to be one is stronger than the other and help prevent chips and cracks.

Pretty sure OEM is thicker and that’s why it’s pricier

We havnt seen that OEM is thicker than aftermarket. Both seem to be very similar in our opinion.

Just had an after market windshield and there is some rippling effect on the lower right side of the passenger side. The tech said if he replaced it they wouldn’t accept that as a defect. Not sure how this glass passed inspection. Looking straight through it’s fine, but turning it’s noticeable. So I would choose better aftermarket brands, some are not good.

We have had to deal with and find different glass wholesale shops in our area. Bad thing where we liv its a smaller town and we have to get glass from over 5 hours away in larger cities.
