Pressure on Neil to play in front of his "home" crowd and all the celebrities and famous drummers who came out to air drum with him that beautiful night!! Some in attendance were....Doane Perry , Chad Smith, Taylor Hawkins, Stewart Copeland to name a few! Lots more! RIP! He left a legacy to follow and adore!!
It's hard not to cry to this, coolest bad ever, my dads favorite band of all time, now my dad has lost his legs to diabetes and he's in a similar boat Neil was in, I'm just so glad I got to see them live on their very last tour ad that I get to share the love for Rush with my dad.
As many have said, Neil was hurting and you can tell, but he carried on and tried to provide the best treat for his fans and it was worth everything. This was a great tour! Yes, Geddy’s voice might’ve not been in the best of shape and there might’ve been a couple of mistakes during songs along the way, Alex had arthritis, Neil had tendinitis and foot problems, but that doesn’t take anything away. All 3 of them tried to put on the best show for their fans. Out of all the DW kits, the two R40 kits were my favorite sound wise.
They kicked ass for 40 years. I'm grateful for being there from 2112 on. I drove 120 miles from the sticks to the nearest record store to get the new 8 track tape from Rush. Smoke a bowl and drive the 60 miles home with it cranked up. It was magical at the time, and I knew it. Makes me smile.
I was watching the documentary The Last Dance about the 90s Bulls and someone said Micheal Jordan always gave his best because he knew there were people seeing him that night for the time. That was Rush: every performance was of the highest quality
This wasn't one of Neil's best, but it's still Neil, and RUSH will always be ours. In 500 years people will be saying, "I wonder what it was like to see RUSH live." As they sit in their 3D computer generated Matrix box.
5:13 and 6:53 his nod to hockey night in Canada. Previously he only would put that in his solo if the venue was a hockey arena. Guess he had to do it on the final one too ❤️
Visiting some Neil solos! Hard to believe it's been almost six years since this show! I was lucky enough to be in the audience this night. The last solo by one of the most prolific writers, philosphers, lyricists, and percussionists of our time- or of any time. Will miss these experiences and the friends made during their tours. Happy for the experiences and forever sad that it's over.
As cool as it is to have a retro kit, he said it was VERY uncomfortable to play since it was made for a younger body. Since Neil already had pains in his limbs it kinda makes me sad he used this as the last kit he ever played since he probably looked at pictures and thought how uncomfortable it was when recalling how it felt. But that kit does look sick!
Seeing the bells and the double-bass behind him one more time (Greensboro for me) was most moving. I can't explain it, but they were part of the kit I grew up with.
@@kevinmcgiffin10 I got to see them and it was my first time, I'm very glad because it's my dads favorite band. I went with my cousin and his gf and my brother and 2 of our close friends, we all love Rush lol, I guess I was 21 at the time so my brother and cousin were around 25 or 26, we were the most hyped people there man lol.
A wonderful compositional drummer... there are others with ridiculous chops all around the world, but Neil changed the rock and prog rock landscape forever. For me, the jazzers and fusion guys win the chops/technique battles, but to make the music that Rush did and to make it accessible was truly a feat.
bripro68 there were two R40 kits created. As the show was crafted to be a trip back through time, the first set was played on his current acoustic configuration. During intermission it was swapped out for the retro kit that he played for the second set and encore.
Yes it was unfortunately! We will never see the genius again behind the kit or the three kings together! I’m so glad I was able to see them many times over the years and especially this last R40 tour. It was truly special!
I don't even want to know how much good music would not exist today if these three musical geniuses didn't do what they did/are still doing. I couldn't take my eyes off of Geddy's tech, his head is just poking out over his gea. Kind of distracting.
+MaynardOwns +jatsko yes that is Lorne Wheaton, Neil's drum tech. That's his normal position during a show, his chair and the effects rack and when they used it on previous tours, the controller for spinning the drum riser are all there. Ged's bass tech John McIntosh, Jack Secret (keyboards) and the stage sound engineer Brent Carpenter are all off stage left
@@toddwalker2161 during snakes and arrows the bass drum was like a percussion explosion every time he kicked it and i love bass drums and rush but i never went to another rush concert after that.
Was like that in Tampa too I was very disappointed. Those 1500 year old logs from some swamp DW made such a big deal about didn’t project worth a damn.
Good performance but was the Lighting guy on crack the entire time. Completely awful cue hits for the drops and drum patterns. Delayed as ever...and if it was programmed completely awful programming.
A Farewell to Kings! Man! I was at the "2nd to last" show in Irvine, but would have LOVED to have been in LA, with all the energy and buzz of the last show, and to have seen "Losing It" (not played at the Irvine Meadows show sadly), but THIS was by far the BEST part of the show with my all time fave EPICS, and to have finally seen an elongated version, and that solo . . . incredible! WE really REALLY miss you Pratt, rest in peace 🥲.
And Thats Neil's final drum solo!!! A Farewell to the 3 Kings! Thanks RUSH!! Good-bye Neil Peart thanks for the inspiration to hit things with stix

Farewell Neil, and thank you for the years of music you made as part of my favorite band.
Farewell Neil and thank you for the music and memories, you are the best.
😪
The man is on fire people !!! The best drummer that you will ever see in your lifetime without a doubt. Neil Peart is a percussion god. ALL HAIL !!!
And there it is, sadly, Neil’s last drum solo.

There are a lot of awesome drummers out there ... but there will never be another Neil Peart. R.I.P. Professor.
Unbelievable masterwork of musicians Rush

Even tired and pained as he was on this tour, Pratt still managed to outpace any and all other drummers out there.

"A Farewell to a King"👑
This kit sounded so f'nn badass. Massive warm tone and throw. Made from a 1500 year old Romanian Oak.
I originally wasn’t a fan of it but it grew on me immensely!
Truly ......." A Farewell To Kings ".........!

No deviation. The Forum was the original home of the Los Angeles Kings for over 30 years and some of the ‘93 Stanley Cup finals were played there.
MickAv8r I stand corrected!!!!

Magical
As usual, Rush, just kicking A$% all over the place!
Great show ! I saw the R40 tour when it came through Greensboro NC.
Richard Joyce I was there as well. It was sad to hear Geddy’s voice cracking so bad because he truly had one of the best voices in rock.
You are a lucky man richard . Tickets sold out so fast when they came through cleveland that many fans never stood a chance to see them.

Never realized he went back to the retro kit until today

Rest. In. Peace. :o(

That is just so bad ass .
Even this late in the game he was still trying to impress his buddies Geddy and Alex.
😢😪🙏🥁
🎸🥁🎸
we better get proshot from this show. it has to have been recorded
This was the last solo, yes?
Apparently, also the last show.
His last one. So glad I saw this tour.
I saw them in Seattle, a couple weeks before this. A drumming buddy of mine from high school treated me. I’m so glad that I got to see this tour.

Clearly whoever mixed the drums must’ve been on the blow again. His concert toms are barely audible. He should’ve never left Tama or Ludwig for DW.
The only thing DW excels at anymore is charging an arm and leg for stunning custom paint jobs at about $600 a piece, and that's on the cheap.
I was so frustrated by the last few live album mixes. Best band on the road mixed by folks who didn't seem to know how to get a good live recording.
@@toddwalker2161 during snakes and arrows the bass drum was like a percussion explosion every time he kicked it and i love bass drums and rush but i never went to another rush concert after that.

Hated the lighting! Couldn't even see the master at work!! Piss me off!!!
I know zero about pro lighting but even I know you don’t drench the subject with so much light they disappear.
The lighting SUCKS!!! Can't watch his hands!!!
Its supposed to reminiscent of the lighting of back then . Mind you seeing it through a cell phone recording is not doing it justice
Fastlane eh Exactly, finally someone understands.
