Most complete video for mosfets - thank you! But I was told that a way to remember what NPN means, is to think of the letters standing for: Never Pointing iNward but the arrows in your picture of the NPN mosfet shows the arrow pointing from the source to the gate - inward. I was also told to remember PNP as meaning: Pointing iNwards Perpetually. So, what is right and what is wrong? Please let me know, I want to learn. Thank you
hello, I followed your explanations carefully but I always have a double reading on the 3-leg smd mosfets, so it is impossible to determine which channel it is pnp or npn since when I change the probes it also shows me a reading on the same legs I'm a little lost I expected that there is only reading in one direction as you have shown, except that all the mosfets that I tested with 2 different multimeters do exactly that the same things double reading, on the same type of mosfets as in your videos and on functional and non-functional cards, I do not understand the 2 readings are satisfactory and displays good resistance on both sides impossible to know which channel is it, are there any exceptions? I do not understand anything anymore. thank you to enlighten me.
I guess the best way to test those transitions is to remove them from the board and test. If not u sometimes experience most of those readings or results
if it beeps with a low reading does that mean your mosfet is short circuited and considered a bad mosfet? I checked all mosfets and every mosfet beeped when i check it with a multimeter with a low reading?
You did a excellent job teaching and explaining but please edit the audio, some simple planning and audio peak monitoring. Audio can make or break the experience. Apologies for unsolicited feedback
Great video as allways well explained 👍could you tell me how to read the markings on smd mosfet to buy replacement, as been repairing a motherboard and have n channel that I need to replace, but have no idea how to order or get a replacement many thanks in advance
i am testing a mosfet that is an TPCA8A10-H . I believe it is a Schottky barrier . between source and drain i am getting 22mA's .022. seems low to me. there are several, they all get the same. are they good? on the data sheet is this the forward voltage?
Quick question: are mosfets marked always with a Q in a pcb or can the get anothet letter? As I've come across an U transistor in a circuit which should be a mosfet itself
I have the same 4-pin Mosfet on my pcb. I checked source and drain. The number jumped to 800 and was still climbing above 900 and then it went to 0L. I think it's bad, isn't it?
Peace be upon you. Please, any information about this electronic piece. Is it two Schottky or Mosfet? For information, it is on the LED TV panel C2 OM thank you
Please I have a laptop and when I test all the MOSFET around the processor with a multimeter set on diode I discovered that it reads from the gate to source, gate to drain and source to drain with all high recistance
Sir , your explanations confuse me . In my motherboard , 4 8-pins mosfets near the CPU give continuity between source and drain even if I reverse the probes , but I have no continuity between gate and source . There is another serie of mosfets on the same motherboard, near the power socket , they give reading between source and drain in both way , but no continuity . among them are two 8-pins mosfets where I get no continuity , no reading between the 4 pins of the drain
I have a faulty Lenovo all in one 330 computer, it doesn't switch on . I got it dissasembled , I tried to check the components , and I noticed that when I pluged the power supply , a 8 pins mosfet near the power jack/socket was getting hot . I checked the mostfet , the drain , the source and the gate are good . Theres a ceramic smd capacitor 1cm away from the Mosfet , and when I check this capacitor in continuity mode theres' no reading , "I " is displayed , even when I reverse the probres , what could ne the problem ?
Hi. am assuming that you are referring to the first mosfet after the charging port. First check if you have a 19. 5 voltage on the output of the first and second mosfet... If you dont have output voltage after the firstmosfets, try replacing that mosfet thats getting hot🔥. Let me know....
In looking further, I see that your ENHANCED MODE MOSFET has a diode between drain and source allowing flow from source to drain. Also, that PCB can confuse you as you watch because MOSFETs 1 & 4 have pin 1 top left, and 2 & 3 have pin 1 bottom right.
There are P and N channel mosfets.... Both can be enhance or deplete(stop), there is no difference .... Difference is, the mosfet can switch off or switch on current ... In case switch off , mosfet is always on ... when it receives on gate voltage it switches off the flow of current
I really hate finding a good video that explains no decent stuff about components And it has to be. Watered down with a dude with a deep voice who Has a whistle to everything that he says. Like the old perverted dude on Family Guy kind of Annoying
@@electronicsrepairbasics_erb I did find on the top number is G065N07 but the bottom number on the mosfit is not the same number, I'm not sure if the bottom number on a mosfit is a Batch number or a nu.ber that is to indicate to the company what voltage it is good for. Hope this makes sense thank you for responding

Best explanation of the mosfits on UA-cam! 👏
Great work
Thanks
Thank you!! that is what i was looking in the internet, the practical electronic. you are the best!!
Wow, thanks!
The best Channel. Thank you for teaching...
Glad you think so!
Merci pour votre explication aussi bien explique bravo a vous merci pour la video
Thank you
The world's best teacher thanks sir
I really appreciate the examples and the readings along with explanation of them.
Glad it was helpful!
Best explanation of the mosfits on UA-cam! 😍😍
Wow, thank you!
You are so good at explaining this!!
Thanks your video, I managed to find out the mosfet FHP100N07 was the fault. Swapped out parts from donor board and my e-scooter is now working
This video is realy helpfull thank you 👍🏻
So glad!
Thanks for good information
So nice of you

@@electronicsrepairbasics_erb Ok, but you haven’t answered my question.
I think you are right. The image at 5:57 is rather N Channel mosfet which is PNP.
With some practice, I think I will finally get MOSFETs thanks to your video. Thx!
his teaching is very clear, i learn many things from him..but sometime i could not catch up nad understand some things as i do not understand..
great video is useful
Thank you.
Love the voise manipulation lol spooky tech.
this is great chanel i hope you focus on desktop motherboard
thanks a lot sir

You're welcome!

Same here...........

Well explained 🙌
Glad it was helpful!
I'm see a similar voltage reading between source and drain regardless of positive/negative lead orientation. Is this an indication of a shorted diode?
u r the best thx
You're very welcome! Thank you
It would be also awesome if you showd how the shorted or bad mosfet reacts :)
Very good video. Thank you very much. 😊❤
Thanks you
Thank you too!

Quick question: are mosfets marked always with a Q in a pcb or can the get anothet letter? As I've come across an U transistor in a circuit which should be a mosfet itself
*can they
In some motherboard can marked U
Good job
Thanks
Why is the reference showing "U" for mosfets instead of "Q"?
In the other video you said U is the reference for intergrated circuit

Remove the CPU and the short will disappear
@@electronicsrepairbasics_erb you were right , the short disappear even on the back side of the PCB

Check all components near to that hot mosfet you will find the failed components, usualy it can be a diode or a mosfet.

I think in this video, a "good MOSFET" is a DEPLETION MODE MOSFET vs an ENHANCED MODE MOSFET. Correct?
In looking further, I see that your ENHANCED MODE MOSFET has a diode between drain and source allowing flow from source to drain. Also, that PCB can confuse you as you watch because MOSFETs 1 & 4 have pin 1 top left, and 2 & 3 have pin 1 bottom right.
