Great video but I think you need to clarify that if one capacitor goes short it will also show all the other capacitors that are connected in parallel with it and therefore does not mean the IC is short, I am aware you know this but I think you need to clarify it for completeness
The only positive way is to obtain the circuit drawing Andrew desolder and isolate one leg of the other capacitors that are connected in parallel one at a time and re-test until shorted capacitor becomes evident unless other know different

SOMETHING. it literally was a little black thing that fell to pieces so i have no idea what it was. assuming it was a smd capacitor... is there a trick to know WHAT it was? there is a C and a number beside it, so has to be a capacitor, logically. but what size? i can assume based on the length, it is the same as others on the board?

there are so many shapes of capacitors and they sometimes look like diodes or smd inductors , it is necessary to watch several various motherboards to identify them , and edit a wall posters of all of them

I have never seen this stuff with a single number i use size to get a working one
I have never seen a SMD capacitor with writing on it. The larger ones do, but the tiny ones are lacking any kind of written codes.
