I think your math is off. All the players you mentioned, with the exception of Franz are all on declining contracts. Suggs, for example, contract will be only like 12% of the cap in his last year.
Yeah he way off. For franz's contract i can understand although i dont agree, but the rest of the team? descending contract. Not to mention the increasing cap. Paolo's (probably) supermax rookie extension will kick in in the last year of KCP's contract which is very tradeable by that time. The magic will be paying guys less as they get better, if they get worse? we'll still pay them less anyway. It's a win-win for the magic.
Why do you have such a low bar on the Magic even after you admit they’ve blown your expectations out of the water? I’m really curious. I understand with the previous FO regimes, but you’ve said yourself that they’ve been much better, and we’re far removed from the past. Also, you’re only looking at Franz at a surface level. Casuals only ever look at the 3pt% and Game 7. Running with that, people have consistently failed to look further and see how he got better almost EVERYWHERE else stat-wise. Not to mention he’s a +defender on the court with incredible footwork, playmaking ability and one of the best off-ball players in the league. That is a max worthy player, and seeing how the first two seasons he was league avg in 3s alongside his consistent growth, it’s easy to bank on that raising again. Also him and Paolo have that chemistry and work amazing as a duo. Just like how Brown and Tatum are, just haven’t reached their level yet.
Don't really understand how PG was a miss for the magic in a video that's cautioning about money spent vs value received for a player. Dude always has a nagging injury, that's a bad contract to give,
Not saying they should have signed PG (they shouldn't have). I mean it more in the sense that they were talked about as having the type of money to make a big splash in free agency and they ended up getting KCP for $60M as their "big" free agency signing
@And.One.Hoops1 which IS huge. He's a 2x champ with starting SG experience.. that's gonna enhance everyone else on the floor when we are all focused on playoff performance. Every game for us this season is game 7 vs the Cavs.. kcp gives us a new edge and I see it in a ton of the players. Going for swipes when a player is driving to the basket. I seen multiple players doing in following kcp. Something we didn't do last year. Our defense has become solid enough to where we are able to now break the rules and get away from our man on gambles that are safe ..(subtle things like that we didn't do all last yr).. getting into passing lanes much more fluently. Instead of just suggs. Now franz and kcp are threatening those lazy passes. Vs some player whose a big name with literally zero championship experience.
I think turning it around and instead using it to secure a core is not a bad way to use it. This is a team whose entire history largely revolves around 2 generational big men. This is a chance to create a winning culture, I like it
Bro your takes are the worst.. like what do you really know about the magic without telling me what you really know about the magics. We would not take PG even when we had a clear window to. One he doesnt wanna be in a small market.. 2. He don't have any defense. 3.. he isnt very high IQ.. the main stables of being a magic is being defensive first and having high basketball IQ.. PG is a hooper and all but not a magic. Next the magic are infamous for having incredible contract negotiations with their players. Frans is the only one who just got a max.. next paolo.. everyone else we have sweet deals with??..
Why do they need to be careful? First team since 1999 to win 47 games with their 3 best players all 22 and under. Watch and learn the team is too deep. 2nd seed guaranteed. See you in April
Franz is a great player, this is someone who watches magic games and just pays attention to what’s going on with them under a microscope. He’s a point forward who’s going to be the number 2, they kinda had no choice but to pay him a max deal, plus the management mentality it’s such a positive want so they wanna keep it that way. So test the market might give a bad impression and leave in future free agency,Orlando already play 10 deep because how they treat people. The rookies are back up plans when veterans leave like kcp leave Jett howard is a shooter, so what’s wrong with having him shoot. They wanna continue playing 10 deep now through the draft and maybe through some free agents(no idea I don’t work with management) Suggs had a amazing season for what we thought was who was staying long term and who was the core and he is now part of the core which is why he got payed that. Paolo will get his money after next season because that’s how this management works they’ve done a great job and now it’s win and continue from here because this is the first time I’ve seen him Gm I’ve belive anywhere.
The problem I have with these you tubers and their takes is that they dont objectively follow the team they are covering. They just look at numbers. If you followed the team any you would have known they are building around P5, Franz and Jalen so PG13 was never an option and def would have been an overpay. If you actually watch magic games you would see scoring is by committee. P5 is our star but when hes having an off night Franz and the rest of the team carries the load. Franz and Suggs are worth every penny of their contract.
Why would they waste money on a washed PG? Injury prone and would take the volume from developing the younger guys? There's plenty cap space coming up, WCJ is on a declining contract, I think Franz is too. Giving these guys confidence in the team and themselves is a good move as a franchise who believes in their picks, builds chemistry
Where you miss is when you say “we need to put money aside to extend Paolo”. No we actually don’t. The finishing moves will be trades of WCJ, CA, and draft capital for the final piece. We’re set
They also didn't have to extend Jonathan Isaac to that kind of money. Dude is an incredible defender, but he's also injury prone like WCJ. And he didn't improve much on offense as well.
The future is bright in the 407 A Lot of ppl won't get why they resigned Suggs and Franz Paolo gonna be next to get a deal. Orlando wants to develop the young guys
Franz is great. Always in control, intelligent, never brainfarts, great defense. He just has to get his 3pointer back. But he was there and his freethrow percentage are still very good. And why PG? He is no superstar anymore? Was he ever? Perhaps 5 years ago... He is 11 years older than Franz, tired, had too many injuries and today a liability on defense.
This is why I don’t want Bulls to give Giddy 150 mil. With Ayo, Coby, coming up soon after. And couple years after Buzelis. And what about if Julian Philips really improves, how you gonna pay him? Or Terry. And besides the fact even if you had cap room I don’t think he’s worth 150! No way! Shoot 40% and you’ll be! But shoot 32% in this era and you’re not getting close to that!
@@tonyjohnson2954 dude how can he be the guy when he doesn’t get a chance? And no way they trade them. You know why? Because our front office doesn’t wanna admit they made a mistake.
Look at the recent NBA Champions, since the goal of course in the NBA is winning it all. One thing the last 4 Champs have in common is CONTINUITY. It’s a proven formula given the talent is there. Buying guys like PG has never worked for any team that’s done it. Same with Harden. It’s an easy way to sell hope with no results. Paolo, Wagner, & Suggs are the core. Grow the core and watch the improvement each year. This team isn’t far away from championship contention at all, with the biggest hurdle simply being inexperience, which over time will dissipate
Franz does, Paolo is next after this season is done because their core is Suggs franz and Paolo they’re never leaving unless they request a trade or need a retool. We’ll be fine plus magic contract decline so first year is the most they get and go down
Takes aging even worse than the first video about the Magic 😄. KCP is playing like shit but he is still moveable like Bruce Brown was for the Pacers, a 34 YO PG on a 4 year max is a death trap that Philly took for the NBA. Franz is clearly a max level player, Suggs is on a declining contract, Paolo will be a max player with the possibility for the super max. JI contract is sketchy due to injury history but is declining and has injury clauses and WCJ is getting outplayed by Goga after getting paid. Those two are the only potential issues and its not even that bad due to their contracts being moveable.
