Fun fact, Muse used Steven Madaio to record the trumpets, who you guessed it, was the trumpet player for Stevie Wonder in the 70s. So you are spot on with your comparison.
Yeah he has played trumpet with hella Great bands!
Yo I was like "HOW DID YOU KNOW, YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT" like I mean he nailed it!!
The thing i love about Muse is the incredible difference between their tracks. People who are not so into them, think they are an alternative rock band. Wich their are, but they also switch from rock to pop, electronic and even simphonic music. Panic station is just another beautiful experiment outside their comfort zone
well said
Such a fun song.
Hey Dave you're the living proof of what I always say "Muse is not for everyone but is for everyone" and what I mean is they have at least one song for you . Whatever type of music you like I'm sure if you look for it you will find a song you will like from them. They have done so many things even dubstep (using their instruments) so yeah. Great review
Great review Muse has the guts to experiment with everything. Assassin live from Mayan and Unsustainable live from Vegas please
Unsustainable from Vegas is lame, do the one from the royal Albert hall with vocals
@@shoots_austin agree
@@shoots_austin I really don’t understand why everyone suggests Unsustainable live from Vegas, the one live from Royal Albert Hall is so much better
@@rubenhenriques3376 ikr, the Vegas one was back when they hadn't perfected it live. It sounds better now Matt uses the more digital tone
Nice reaction. As a bass player myself, I enjoy the simplicity of the bass line, while managing to really provide movement and groove. I play along to this often.
first time I ever heard this I thought "Stevie Wonder" too.
And Muse does this with every genre--even if you don't like it the genre, you like this version of it. Every one. I hate disco. I don't like R and B . I don't like dubstep. I don't dislike but I don't listen to Latin music. But Muse does all of that and always make it sound AWESOME.
A very underrated song from them in my opinion. They're such a good versatile band.
I agree, you never guess that it's Muse.
Great review! Figured I’d give you something a little different from Muse since you lambasted the last one for more of their symphonic piano work haha. Early Muse/Showbiz era is next folks.
Nice!
Liquid state would make for a great reaction also
He needs to react to the song Showbiz...I will be very disappointed if he doesn't like it.
hm much did you donate ?
Muchas gracias por tu reacción, siempre honesta y sincera. Saludos desde Argentina! 👏🏻👏🏻
I would never expect 9 as a score for panic station. I mean hysteria is 8.8 and panic station 9?! Great review!
People who hear a lot of music often like to be surprised! Also Hysteria was a studio version, that track really comes alive live.
Great reaction, ur ryte what such a groovy song, have to love muse, can't wait to see more, and great score :)
I got Another one bites the dust vibes.
I’ll be honest, thought you’d hate this one. Pleasant surprise!
surprised to see you here nightwalk!
Dude, I dig these reaction videos. What sets you apart is that you know your music and you approach this from a musician's perspective. I am a Muse fan and a bassist so I appreciate your knowledge. Cheers.
FEELIN' YOU Thomas!!! Always nice to hear from a fellow keeper of the low end.
Again David, that's not the olimpics, it's the olimpic arena... Rome, Italy
Good stuff! Couple of things: I'm always thinking of you set list, song 1 - song 2 dynamic. This is the second song in the set. It works well to engage the audience. Also, if you liked this groove, any live version of "Supermassive Black Hole' might also be satisfying. Keep up the good work, DH! Thanks.
U Sir are truly the best reviewer out there, no doubt about it!! Love your videos, love your fairness in judging a song, like it or not
FEELIN' YOU DeadStar!!!
@@THEDavidHeretic react to Muse - Dead star 😅. Maybe their most heavy song
Damn they got the funk 🔥
👏👏👏 I do agree with you.
Fun fact: This song is one of Ale's (The Warning) favorites songs ever.
Ale's got taste
Well that explains why no one has reacted to their performance at the closing ceremony of the Olympics in London. They played the song Survival and it was incredible. There was a giant chorus of people doing backups and they were stomping back and forth so hard that the entire stage was bouncing. Always wondered why I never saw a reaction to it. I should have guessed it was because of the IOC.
The IOC is SAVAGE with their protection of intellectual property.
Surprised by both the song selection and the chosen score, panic station is from the 2nd law album which received a lot of negative reviews from "fans"
great review! thanks to the patreons and David, I hope the video stays *Vade retro olympic cross cross 🕯😆🕯
I don't think it's fair to put fans in quotes here. Fans don't have to like everything. I think the problem with The 2nd Law is that it just doesn't match the quality of everything before as an album. But that's not to say it doesn't have some absolute bangers! It's always going to be that way with Muse because they've dabbled with such varying styles.
This isn't me saying T2L is bad, it's more that the albums prior were hard to top as a whole and Muse got increasingly ambitious. Gotta love them for it though, even if it doesn't strike a chord with everyone. I hadn't much enjoyed some of their releases buy adore Simulation Theory where many hate it... But it works because it flows so brilliantly imo. T2L lacked that flow
@@JDC701 interesting but that's your view. I adore 2nd law but indifferent to simulation theory. Funny how different muse fans have differing opinions isn't it? I liked your post. Debated the issue but no vitriol, just honest opinions 👏🏻
@@JDC701 BTW I started to really love the second law more than before when I watched the making of. Don't know if you've seen that but interesting background to the craft of making the album.
@@Dan-os9kg the world's too bad a place to add more vitriol! :) I just didn't find the user above putting fans into quotes was really called for. I've been a big fan for probably around 18 years now and have managed to catch the band about 8 times live.
I had actually watched the making of, and I got the deluxe vinyl set for T2L after how good the same box was for The Resistance. My problem with it is rooted in the fact I like the full album experience and though I really enjoy the vast majority of songs on T2L it just doesn't flow right for me. I don't dislike it though, and the tour for the album was great fun! I'll not ever hate a band after a poor release though, and I love that Muse keep changing it up but still maintain what makes them great. Not many bands can do that!
Have to say 2nd law has some stinkers but I think it has some of their best songs. Like animals and explorers
"strictly 70's Stevie Wonder" (Step Brothers movie reference)
Hey, man. Did you touch my drum set?
Is it really? I've actually never seen that movie.
@@THEDavidHeretic Strictly 80s Billy Joel, pretty funny... ua-cam.com/video/8QIICilg90Q/v-deo.html
most underrated: the bassist backijg vocals. great ones
You should react to Pen Cap Chew by Nirvana. It's a good song.
The main requests anyone gets for Muse reactions are always the big rock anthems and you mentioned they were showing you nothing new. Now we're starting to get past 'the usuals' and into the nitty gritty. There's a different genre in every corner of Muses catalog and whatever they do you can tell it has the Muse twist. Enjoy your rabbit hole and I'll throw out a suggestion of The Void. Imho one of the most powerful/beautiful pieces they have done (not live, dont like what they did to it live).
Definitely get a lot of superstitious vibes from this one. Never thought about the prince comparison but I can absolutely see it.
@@patrickwhelpley1745 Oh I know I absolutely love that song. People don't seem to realise that's it's quite a heavy song too. I was lucky enough to see them in the UK for the tour and Tom Morello came on to play the break down with Matt.
Prince and Queen...
Has anyone requested Butterflies and Hurricanes? Not Wembley though but Glasto 2004

@@THEDavidHeretic ha amazing. Thanks.
happy song 😀, please react to Muse " The Globalist" or Megalomania
You need to hear Reapers live, God guitar.
Good
David please react Baby metal Catch me if You can Live you’ll love it !!!!!
Do unnatural selection. Great track.

Before the solo.... on the record he gives a whail but did it on guitar live
It has some Stevie Wonder's Superstition vibes
CAN I GET A LIL SNEAK PEEK ABOUT UPCOMING MUSE REACTION 'CAUSE I'M YOUR NEW SUBS AND GET EXCITED ABOUT IT 🤩🔥
Best way to get any sneak peaks would be to follow me on Instagram. I post up what's "coming soon" to the channel there.
Hope Assassin is coming soon :D
....keeeeeeeep watching....all I can say.....
@@THEDavidHeretic always! ;)
More like queen because of the bass line......like similar to john deacon bass line in another one bites the dust.....
If matt Bellamy was born 400 years ago... he'd be a prodigy. Watch his making of with muse albums... he writes, conducts and corrects orchestras.... but can't read or write sheet music
Muse - Sign O’ The Times (Prince cover) ua-cam.com/video/OZOrIHeEN3s/v-deo.htmlsi=rUt_OxU6ClGK4NV8
matt bellamy playing moving, singing, close to the bass, makes the bass player look like a beginner on the instrument lol
