i am in year 9 and have a test tomorrow including frequency tables and polygons i am in set 1 for maths and as my teacher thinks that everyone in the class know everything already, he doesn’t explain. i appreciate this video, it helped a lot. thank you.
your videos are really helpful. i'm in year 9 at the moment and i am hoping to do my maths gcse one year early next year! your videos have really helped with my extra revision! thanks
Victoria Wozakowska Hiya Victoria- thanks loads!!! Any chance you could spare 30 secs to vote for HegartyMaths in this Richard Branson competition which ends in a few days. Would mean a lot to me and HegartyMaths. www.virginmediabusiness.co.uk/pitch-to-rich/start-up/hegartymaths/ Thanks Mr H
Thanks a lot I’ll need ur channel a lot next year (I’m still in yr 9 but I had to learn this for a test) I’m starting gcse next year I’m a student in Dubai in a British curriculum school!!

in class we were taught that to find the median we take the frequency, add it up, and then we take the added frequency add that by 1 and divide it by 2. Is that wrong or???
That formula is used for non grouped numbers eg3,4,5,7. The one in this example is grouped (0-10, 10-20..) so we don’t have to use this formula, we can just add it up and divide it by two to find the place.
I was just thinking as my teacher said that you always add one to the total frequency then divide by 2 so wouldn’t it be 56+1 divided by 2 so it would be 28.5 also don’t you use the Cumulative Frequency?
is there not supposed to be an interval added on both sides ie below the lowest interval and the highest interval in order for the line to touch the x axis?
thank you so much this has helped me out a lot because even though I got notes from my gcse maths class still got confused and didn't understand now feeling confident :)
The answer is correct Firstly u add up the frequency which gives u 54 Median means the middle so u half 54 which gives u 27 Then u see which group has 27 in it. The answer is which group the median is in Hope this helps 😊
My man just saved me a night of no sleep
I did not get this topic at first, now I can answer this question in my exam with confidence! Thank you so much!
Thanks very useful for revision u are a great teacher
Sir, I can't thank you enough. Seriously. You've really, really, really helped.
9:58 shouldnt there also be a cross inbetween 50-60 , should it be plotted at 0 or will u lose a mark
I don't believe plotting crosses 50-60 is necessary.
Nah
I'm pretty sure it is needed but he forgot to plot it
thats what I was going to say, I think he forgot it was there

18:35. It is an estimated mean so you do not put a decimal place you round it to the nearest integer
Thanks a lot I’ll need ur channel a lot next year (I’m still in yr 9 but I had to learn this for a test) I’m starting gcse next year I’m a student in Dubai in a British curriculum school!!
bro you are a life saver
Thank you for spending your own time on making these videos
It's his job 😂
Thank you very much for this video its helpful now I’m confident to my self
i keep forgetting this as i get all my tables confused but am doing my maths homework now and needed a little reminder, thanks ;)
YOU ARE A BORN LEGEND. THANK YOU SO MUCH MAN, THANK YOU
Thank you so much for this! By far the best video on youtube
How is the mode 20 I don’t see it being the number that mostly occurs often
I don’t think you understand, ‘20’ isn’t the number that’s being repeated it’s the amount of times the length ‘0
Just to be clear when I say that 20 is the answer I mean the length adjacent
Thanks Mr Hegarty, btw the first question is the same one I got in a past paper:)
Thank you for this!
U JUST SAVED MY LIFE
You, my friend are a saviour! Thanks a lot for this video, really helped me out big time :'D

Thank you so much it has helped my son so much
when finding the median position don't you do 56+1 divided by 2 so that 28.5
Mandip Baniya not true. You always do that
@@Adam-hf7hn Sam Kennedy no, hes correct as you can see in the video the number could be divided by 2
Thank you a lot.....it was really useful
in class we were taught that to find the median we take the frequency, add it up, and then we take the added frequency add that by 1 and divide it by 2. Is that wrong or???
It's right
+Noraa Maganga exactly
but why he didn't add 1 to the total , he divided the total by 2?
That's only if it's odd because the halved frequency needs to be a whole number
That formula is used for non grouped numbers eg3,4,5,7. The one in this example is grouped (0-10, 10-20..) so we don’t have to use this formula, we can just add it up and divide it by two to find the place.
Thank you very much for teaching me.
Thank you for all your help
very good at explaining.
I was just thinking as my teacher said that you always add one to the total frequency then divide by 2 so wouldn’t it be 56+1 divided by 2 so it would be 28.5 also don’t you use the Cumulative Frequency?
I just wanna leave my existence here, thanks
thank you Mr education

This is really helpful, thanks :d
do you have to round the answers at the end and if so which decimal place to
I don’t think we can tbh
Thank you, this was extremely helpful x
Thanks ALOT! Easy 5 marks
Thankyou sooo much🙌🙌🙌🙌
I've literally done my Maths GCSE but I'm watching anyway lol
Thank you so much. God bless.
14:48 You mean 4.5??
thank you so much i have a test tomorrow and i hope I get 90+ in it.
How did it go?
Yah how was it
@@choosingmusic11488p I think I got an A*
Very helpful- thank you!
4:12 I don't understand why is it 12?
cheers this helped me a lot
Good video, but... I don't quite understand why, for Exercise 1b, the answer is 10
thank you so much this has helped me out a lot because even though I got notes from my gcse maths class still got confused and didn't understand now feeling confident :)
Hye I want to ask, how to calculate lower limit in the class interval 160
Thanks so much that really helpful
10:00 that line is not a frequency polygon, a frequency polygon should be joined from point zero and the last point to make it a polygon
what's the difference between class interval and group/interval when you are solving median.
You did it in two methods which is correct.
i love you for this
Thanks great video
THANK U MAN GOD BLESS U
DO YOU JOIN THE DOTS FREEHAND OR WITH A RULER?
Esther ruler
Arent u supposed to add the sum of the frequency by 1 than divide plz help my exam is in 3 days im a year 9 student
Same
Thats to work out median i think
thank u so much I've been struggling with this for so long
What if the total of the frequency is an odd number what group dose lie in then ?
Frequency polygons plot the point at the mid point of the data and are connected by a line- what you have drawn is confusing me????
Worth watching
This question appears on the new exam , 1-9 paper 3
Thanks sir😊
really good explsined
I thought to work out the median it is n+1/2 then see what interval it lies it
just saved me a solid 9 marks, i could make a religion out of this.
I have a quick question is this also for edexcel maths
+hanna khan idiot
u r my saviour
the last exam question you showed you didnt show how to answer part c...?
I love u so much
So helpful!
my savior
taehyung!!!
Can someone explain why the median is 10
The answer is correct
Firstly u add up the frequency which gives u 54
Median means the middle so u half 54 which gives u 27
Then u see which group has 27 in it. The answer is which group the median is in
Hope this helps 😊
"Hi there! Welcome to Hegarty Maths for another video from Mr Hegarty here." That makes no sense but oh well..
brov you're genius . you save my ass i love you so so much
thanks for the help
Whats a range
10:05 you forgot to do between 50 and 60 even if the frequency is 0
Dumbass anything you times by 0 is 0
helped loads
Guys check out 2:01 I swear I can hear whispering
It sounds more like a laugh but sometimes his crappy microphone makes it sound like there's whispering
OMG so helpful
Bruh the bar chart you made me get 1 mark
thank you
john fortnite touched me in avengers dark knight rises
isnt frequency polygon the top number not the middle
median is not the 20th.. it is between the 20th and 21st
How can you print off this page on https/.hegartymaths.com or on youtube?
Really good video by the way, Thanks! :D
save my life
2:01 - why do I hear somebody laughing?
