I exclusively use wireless charging. I honestly cant see myself getting another phone that doesn't have it. I use it so much, only a couple weeks ago did I find out my charging port was broken when I tried to charge it with the cable. It's not about the efficiency of wireless over cable, its about simplicity. It's just easier to drop it on a stand next to my bed and have it charge at night. While its in the stand I can see it at a glance cause its not lying flat. That means I don't have to reach for it to see the time.

Aside from the pure android/pixel UI, for me one of the real plus points for this is the size of the phone. I had the original Nexus phones but then moved to OnePlus. I was going to get the OnePlus Nord but now this has been announced I'll be going with the 4a.
Back in 2016 when LG released the V20 with Android 7.0 out of the box, I bought that phone. Google at the time, had just released the first Pixel phone, I said to myself "the next phone I get will be a Pixel". Well I am super glad I waited for as long as I did, coming from that phone to the Pixel 4A, I really notice how incredible the Pixel line is, even with a lower tier phone. There are a few things I miss from my V20 that the Pixel doesn't have, but they are relatively minor. I've had my Pixel 4A for just over a week now and I'm really enjoying it, especially since I could immediately update to Android 11. This video is the reason I got the 4A instead of the 4, was going to get the 4XL, but I was really reading mixed reviews on it, so I went with the 4A, people have been praising this phone and all I can say to that is, well done Google.
You guys had the device in your hand and the review this deep is available within an hour of official Pixel 4A release!!! All those click baits on the articles!!! This is the phone all of the Android world should target and aspire to become like. Absolutely lovely. The video does miss on talking about camera hardware - OIS present or absent.
Thank you so much for not comparing this to the OnePlus Nord. It's not available in the US, so it's not a direct competitor. Most reviewers completely ignore this.
I love my 3a XL, but one of the biggest issues is the screen uniformity; the white temperature shifts from warm to cool depending on the viewing angle, and in some angles it looks like a cyan and magenta stripe pattern. Would love a more in-depth analysis of the display.
Well this is something to note when he was inside the house at 1:14 he wear the mask and at the very next shot he was without the mask in outdoors😂😂 Although he was talking in fromt of camera but still
i'm still rocking my OG pixel XL, probably time for an upgrade, battery is starting to be limited compared to what it used to be. this sounds like a possible contender for me.
Since they didn't give it a water resistance rating, they need to make a sleek slim lifeproof like case for the phone. The that $50 they cut could've been used towards an IP rating, I would've preferred that. It is possible though that it has good water resistance without an actual rating.
Coming from a galaxy a20 , I'm do for a upgrade soon and this is the phone that I want . I have always been a galaxy girl but have been curious about the Google pixel phones for quite some time .
I'm still rocking my original pixel 4 years later & honestly can't find a reason to upgrade. The phone has only gotten better with age and I hate any notch or hole punch on my screen so I think I'll wait another generation before I start looking at phones again
I own the Pixel 2 as well. Rock'n the light blue color. My battery is slowly dying. Unless these updates are causing my battery to not show proper percentage and shuts down showing 10% to 8% battery left.
I assume the $350 is now official? That was like pulling teeth, but maybe they were deciding. Most of what you say is true, but it's so positive that it undermines the message. I got sick of the 4a foray and went with the 3a, but used, off Ebay, for $140. It's a nice phone. I like the longer update cycle. It's in a case, so the back texture is irrelevant. I would have gone with the iPhone SE but using the newer file features of the iPad I have convinces me that Apple is still not open to an open file system. The 128 bump is curious, since memory has always annoyed me and I don't like the little cards. The pictures on the 3a are nice, but it's not entirely natural. Ideally you could buy a Pixel every 3 years, use it without problems and have all the updates. That would make the cost $10 a month and it would barely matter to most people. I hope this is the new model. Chucking old Motos when they end-of-life the updates is not good.
My Google Pixel 2 is still receiving updates. But I'm hearing that's coming to a end I believe in October. I hope I receive the Android 11 update before they end me receiving updates. My battery still gets me a few day with light use as long as I keep WiFi and Bluetooth Off. I keep my screen brightness to about +30%
I am a Pixel fan though the Pixel 3 was frustrating (RAM management), the Pixel 4, despite YT influencers trashing it remains great and although battery life is so so, for those of us that understand that and accept it as that is all we need, it does the job. For about £100 more in the UK on eBay, I would recommend that as a well-spent upgrade over this rather underwhelming Pixel 4a.
Great review. For the people watching this that really care about the camera performance and dynamic range I'm sure that between the dual exposure sliders and night sights ability to be used in daylight the end result is easily a flagship worthy main camera
I think Google nailed it with the pixel 4a. If you use your smartphone like probably 90% of all users you do basic web browsing, WhatsApp, FB or other social media, maybe some gaming and using a smaller variety of specific apps. For that purposes you need a solid phone with enough speed and battery life. And I think all of us appreciate a real good camera. You'll get all that for for a really reasonable price, plus the newest android and security updates. As its screen is only 5.8 inch it's also offering a good user experience for people with smaller hands or people who just don't want huge smartphones that are almost tablets.
I'm still not sure why having a hole in your screen is a defining characteristic of a more futuristic phone. Is having a bit of bezel really that bad? The Note 9 nailed the thin bezel and no screen protrusion. I miss it.
Really looking forward to this affordable phone. It will be my second Pixel phone and I will be putting it up against my current daily driver, the Galaxy S10e. I think it will do just fine and will just tide me over for a few months until the Pixel 5 comes out.
The latest on the Pixel 5 is that it will be a larger phone than I want so hopefully the Pixel 4a will work as my daily for awhile. This is the first phone that I have been really excited about in awhile and I find it funny since it is such an affordable mid ranger. It reminds me of the when I got my first and second gen Moto X's as they were pretty basic, almost stock Android, and yet they were the perfect size for me, held up well, and I really enjoyed them. My S10e is a perfectly fine phone, love the small size, great camera, etc... but it has just never really excited me. The main reason I bought it last year was that I needed a phone with a better camera than my Moto X4 but still wanted a small phone and nothing else really fit those needs.
Hey Dave, I use the S10+ & the 4XL, luv them both. But I'm still gonna add this very good mid-ranger to my stable, why the heck not. Especially at this price. The camera competes with the top 🐕'ies!
Interesting ..yours is the only review of the camera that rates it so well others say it's ok but no more. I wonder if there are some hardware issues with some of the review phones.
the A51 is in the same price range as this and I just ordered the a51 yesterday should have waited for this to drop this is a really really great phone to consider in the $300-350 dollar price range.
What I think they are going to do on the pixel 5 is keep two lenses adding an ultra-wide and using some of their AI magic with an updated sensor on the main camera to focus on telephoto performance
I had a pixel 3a XL, great phone, great battery life but found it a bit sluggish at times....was waiting for the 4a and to be honest a bit disappointed in the dull black finish, I'm in the UK and decided to search the selling site's. I managed to get a like brand new second hand pixel 4xl for only£50 more than the 4a. 90hz screen, ip68, QHD screen, wireless charging, the Snapdragon 855 still very quick and obviously great cameras. It's always worth looking for a 6 to 12 month old higher spec model than the latest midrange version.
How smooth is the zooming for video recording? I find Google REALLY lacks with this. iPhone SE performs really well when you're zooming in and out on Snapchat
They cut corners the right way. The phone is $350 with 128GB storage and it's a lot better than it's predecessor. Perfect phone for everyone especially on difficult times like now.
The most important thing about the 4a is the fact that Google actually listened to us.... No more project soli and small battery. Thank you, Google. Can't wait to see the Pixel 5!
What do you guys think about switching from a 2 year old flagship phone (SD845) to this Pixel? I am kind of tired of OEM's laggy and heavy UI's and slow updating, but I kinda like the power to record 4K 60, edit videos and photos and game.
Everyones have been saying the iPhone SE 2020 is an old design. The Pixel 4A is basically a design we've seen from MANY phones and nobody references how this hone is also an old design lol
Why yearn for official IP rating? Isn't the actual water-resistance more important? If it clued together and there are proper sealing placed in openings then everything should be okay. We will see when Zack will demount it.
Just bought the Pixel4a. Screen is horrible. It has rainbow shimmer when viewing white backgrounds. It's worst screen I have had on a phone, messing with my eyes... You say best screen on a phone this year?! Really?! You also pictured laying phone facedown on concrete! No one will do that in real life and suggests it's built like a brick. I have had my Pixel4a 3 weeks and now the back of the phone is moving and making clicking noises when I hold and press it. Is unacceptable for a £350 phone!... Not sure if you are paid by Google but I would not recommend this phone is terrible build quality and screen.
I wish reviewers would atleast quickly mention that call screening isn't available outside the US, Canada and UK when mentioning it as a feature. It annoys me as a Pixel user that isn't in one of these countries 😩

This video is the reason I got the 4A instead of the 4, was going to get the 4XL, but I was really reading mixed reviews on it, so I went with the 4A, people have been praising this phone and all I can say to that is, well done Google.
I wish it had an Ultrawide lens. That would have made it a perfect smartphone for the price.
Ultrawide is must in 2020.
Akash Yadav OIS is present
@@AfnanHussain yeah. Had to check other reviews to confirm that.
Real old-school Nokia vibes with the polycarbonate build, I love it.
Agreed 💯%. Feels so much better in hand than a cold (or hot) metal phone.
@@davidb7358 Worst material for battery cover is rubber. CAT really fucked up with their models. I almost burned my hand while using that crap.
I want this but I've been using wireless charging since my nexus 4... That's a tough feature to lose.
Agreed. I love it at my house. Biggest thing I miss!
I was waiting for this thing, even though I don't know thing about it!
Thank you so much for not comparing this to the OnePlus Nord. It's not available in the US, so it's not a direct competitor. Most reviewers completely ignore this.
Best review ive seen simple but amazing. Other reviews really make this phone sound boring and cheap LOL
I love my 3a XL, but one of the biggest issues is the screen uniformity; the white temperature shifts from warm to cool depending on the viewing angle, and in some angles it looks like a cyan and magenta stripe pattern. Would love a more in-depth analysis of the display.
Who doesn't like that single camera placed alone with the flashlight in the square....
Google decided to keep only 1 camera lens in that box in the last minute. Only that could be the possible explanation for that
I cant believe they got rid of the squeeze to summon Google assistant feature
Its a pretty good phone, just loved it 😍
0:30 i am sure those are natural, not Plastic one.
Well this is something to note when he was inside the house at 1:14 he wear the mask and at the very next shot he was without the mask in outdoors😂😂
Although he was talking in fromt of camera but still
I've seen pictures of people wearing a mask while swimming alone in the sea...so kind of wierd

Really good review there mate. Clear, concise and to the point. Also with a touch of genuine emotion too. 👍
I love this review. He said everything i needed to know. Thumbs up 👍
Cant wait, I'm updating from my galaxy s7 and trading it in :)
Super bro 👌 keep rocking 💪❤️
Love from india 💪
i'm still rocking my OG pixel XL, probably time for an upgrade, battery is starting to be limited compared to what it used to be. this sounds like a possible contender for me.
Since they didn't give it a water resistance rating, they need to make a sleek slim lifeproof like case for the phone. The that $50 they cut could've been used towards an IP rating, I would've preferred that. It is possible though that it has good water resistance without an actual rating.
Hands up to you bro... For doing this..
I'm from India and I watched every video you post...
BTW love from India...
Coming from a galaxy a20 , I'm do for a upgrade soon and this is the phone that I want . I have always been a galaxy girl but have been curious about the Google pixel phones for quite some time .
to conclude...Google is weird with their smartphone line.
budget >>>>> flagship
We need the panda colour way, Google ! 😭
I'm still rocking my original pixel 4 years later & honestly can't find a reason to upgrade. The phone has only gotten better with age and I hate any notch or hole punch on my screen so I think I'll wait another generation before I start looking at phones again
I have a pixel 2 which is still running like a champ. That being said, worth an upgrade to the 4a?
yeah
I own the Pixel 2 as well. Rock'n the light blue color.
My battery is slowly dying. Unless these updates are causing my battery to not show proper percentage and shuts down showing 10% to 8% battery left.
Ahmad Haruman I had the same model as you. I had to switch phones due to the same battery issue.
I can't see why I would upgrade from my 2xl. Still works great. The battery is at about 2/3 capacity so I'll probably have it replaced eventually.
Probably wait until official support from Google is over
why did you say "shutter speed and iso" like that? diminishing great features to make a case for not having them?
I'm ALMOST compelled to upgrade from my Pixel 3a now...
haha but there is no need
I keep my screen brightness to about +30%
@@Mr_Battlefield On the Pixel 1 with battery save mode only had it for 2 years though that battery is going really considering getting the 4A.
THAT SYMMETRICAL SCREEN 🤩
I miss it.
No glass back, a headphone jack, great size. Im buying it ASAP.
Yep, I like mine. Agreed with everything that was said. At first I was put off by the size, but I've come to accept it.
this dude has a great voice and is on point with the review, just sayin
Hey Dave, I use the S10+ & the 4XL, luv them both. But I'm still gonna add this very good mid-ranger to my stable, why the heck not. Especially at this price. The camera competes with the top 🐕'ies!
Thank you for the review. I have a question though, how could you record outdoor crisp and clear? What kind of mic do you use?
This video ia sponsored by Nord i mean One Plus Nord lol
Interesting ..yours is the only review of the camera that rates it so well others say it's ok but no more. I wonder if there are some hardware issues with some of the review phones.
They could went without the square bump, or just made it smaller being as there's only one camera and a flash in the rear.
Pixel phones are mainly focused on the camera. So, i don't think high end specs matter.. this is the perfect compact Pixel phone in my opinion so far
Just pre-ordered mine. Gonna be a hit!
Nice video and good explanation of specification looking good design of the phone and good camera
the A51 is in the same price range as this and I just ordered the a51 yesterday should have waited for this to drop this is a really really great phone to consider in the $300-350 dollar price range.
presence of head Phone jack makes the decision between OnePlus nord and Pixel 4a a lot easier.
What I think they are going to do on the pixel 5 is keep two lenses adding an ultra-wide and using some of their AI magic with an updated sensor on the main camera to focus on telephoto performance
Google just want others to show how Android experience should be implemented using their pixel lineup
Another well done review by android authority
Pixel 4a or OnePlus Nord?
I need a big screen,I love watching movies and UA-cam on my phone
What do you guys think about switching from a 2 year old flagship phone (SD845) to this Pixel? I am kind of tired of OEM's laggy and heavy UI's and slow updating, but I kinda like the power to record 4K 60, edit videos and photos and game.
Finally a phone that I'm dreaming to get !
Honestly it's my first phone I wished so badly to get !
Everyones have been saying the iPhone SE 2020 is an old design. The Pixel 4A is basically a design we've seen from MANY phones and nobody references how this hone is also an old design lol
I was waiting for this for a long time😍
Finally we can see the most awaited phone of 2020
This phone is so good , if this won't be launched in India I won't hesitate to pay extra money for importing one.
It's coming to India in October. Already listed on Flipkart
@@RizwanAzad it is not listed on flipkart..
@@thanojkumar8886 You need to check Flipkart and then comment here
Why yearn for official IP rating?
