Awesome. My father was the Lemon Piper's manager. And he is also the one playing the triangle in the production. Paul Menard aka Irving Harrigan of Charlie and Harrigan. Also, Charlie and Harrigan were inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2014. The memories I have of the Lemon Pipers coming over to the house in Ohio. Amazing!
I am envious of you. I was technically there..born in 67, but I’ve always loved the music of the 60s, even though my childhood and teenage years were 70s/ 80s. I ADORE Green Tambourine, Incense and Peppermints, The Doors, etc. It all feels very familiar to me somehow. ❤
The nascent days of 2022 have added a few more musical talents to Rock and Roll heaven. Thank you Aaron for preserving their contributions to music across the spectrum in your library via one upload or another. It’s so great to see YCDTI! back satiating our appreciation of American Bandstand memories. Honorable mentions to @jthyme and Uncle George wherever you are. THANK YOU Aaron.
Dancer Don , Plaid looked nice on you and of course we were all cool if we had plaid on. I on the other hand was short and stocky and looked like a kids toy colored block. That's saying nothing about the pants to boot. I now help my wife get my grand kids plaid. It will not go away.I must be one of the few that STILL hates it.

@@cindymacferran331 I really liked "Green Tambourine," so it stayed in my memory! 😊 I was excited to see it included on AB, which I watched faithfully every Saturday, along with Soul Train later on!
Thanks, Aaron!! Sad to say, a few other passings this week were R. Dean Taylor (Indiana Wants Me), Fred Parris of the Five Satins (In The Still Of The Night), songwriter Dallas Frazier (Mohair Sam, Elvira, Alley Oop, There Goes My Everything, etc) and Rosa Lee Hawkins of the Dixie Cups (Chapel Of Love, Iko Iko)

It’s a particularly great Top 10 this week with Gary Puckett at #10, I agree @Mark Stevens. I’m glad these help for you forget your cares for a few minutes…a hard thing to do these days. 😀
I always love the music and dancing. But the Neet commercial at the beginning was hilarious 🤣. I showed it to Hubs and he about fell out of his chair. I was 12 in 1968, he was 15. Thanks for sharing nostalgic times!
I liked this song then, I like it now....when you think of all the history being played out in those days with all that great music as the soundtrack...a unique time😎
Aaron I am with you would love to see them dancing to “Bend Me, Shape Me”. Please tell me this is a hint and you have such a video teed up ready to post soon.
For me it would be “Woman, Woman” by the Union Gap. Anytime I hear something from them it’s like I am automatically transformed back into my wonder years from the middle to late 60s
Always love the ending to this tune. Top 40 stations back then would cut the ending to make room for more commercials and DJ babble. Christmas 1967, got my first record player, stereo, no less!

He was a very kind, intellligent and funny man. He became a very well-known lawyer in greater Detroit and few around him knew that in his youth, he opened for the Beatles.
Wow! That commercial for Neet was just bizarre, even for the loose 60's. And pretty funny too! I saw the Lemon Pipers perform on a TV show (Not AB) in 1969 and naturally Green Tambourine was the song they played. Its one of those marvelous one hit wonders that just resonated with me then and still does. By the way, was that Maureen Cohen at the end of the clip? Peace to all.
I remember that commercial and most of the 1960s. Contrary to current popular opinion, for most people in most of the country, the '60s weren't that loose.
@@briansullivan1050 That's fine, no problem. Just recently I've been revisiting the AB clips. It appears there aren't anymore floating around unfortunately, since I haven't seen any new ones posted in quite a while. 😊
LMAO at that commercial! How did they get away with that?! Aaron, Why did they not play the Beatles "Hello Goodbye" that was number one? Didn't they usually do that? I wonder what made them choose#4? I would have loved to dance to "Bend me Shape Me" ....any way you want me......hahaha!
Hi Peggy! Happy New Year. I hope you are doing well. They are at the end of the show and out of time so I think they played it because it was so short. From what Don says, it sounds like Dick was often pressed for time and always trying to move the show along. It’s a good thing they didn’t play “Hello Goodbye” or I wouldn’t be able to post it as Beatles songs are always blocked. I’d love to see you guys dance to “Bend Me, Shape Me” too. I’m guessing they played that at least a few times here in early ‘68. Good to hear from you.

It just occurred to me, how is “any song you want I’ll gladly play” played on a tambourine? Is it like the game “what song is this?”, while you bang on the table and someone guesses? Only took me 50 years to notice this.
The youngsters here look totally out of it, and was that blonde girl yawning at the beginning of the song? Maureen looks like she's about to do a Clearasil commercial.
