      I used a rinse out as a leave in for years and my hair was very damaged. I guess the products i used were just bad in general but since then i am kind of scared to go back using regular conditioners as a leave in even though the leave ins cost a lot more unfortunately. Maybe i'll try it again some time and see if anything has changed.

    The funniest hair rumor is how people explain the mechanics of the “squish to condish” method for me lol. People say the squishing motion “pushes the water into the cuticle” or “forces the conditioner to work with water” and hydrate the hair or whatever but that’s just ridiculous. The reason it works is that you can’t properly rinse off the conditioner with this method- so you’re automatically using your conditioner as a leave-in.

      @AfrikatheMagnificent 3 роки тому +8

      Nooo don't do that! I also have low porosity, very fine low density hair. I use a little of the smoothie then gel on wet hair after washing for my wash and go styler but as an alternative (and I use it as a day 2/3/4/5 refresher spray) mix about 1 part of the shea moisture curl smoothie to 4 parts water in a spray bottle and shake it up a lot, and it makes a really really good lightweight styler! This works because the smoothie is also water based- the first ingredient is water- like a conditioner. So you can water down lots of products and turn them into a spray that way!

I enjoy seeing my growth and have taken to banding two sections to motivate myself to go past my nipple length while I learn how to keep my hair healthy as well as getting wind on my scalp. What a great video! My fave leave in conditioner is Shea Moisture JBCO Leave In Conditioner. When it comes to the rinse-out conditioners, I don't use them anymore; I have replaced with the "deep conditioner". It just seems like I'm overdoing it with both, when the two products have the exact ingredients. I've come to learn that it is either/or for the conditioners. A rinse out conditioner may be enough for someone, who just "wants" or "needs" a light conditioning to the hair, considering their hair texture, i.e., the 3A-3C range, but for my type 4B/C hair, the deep conditioner works the best. Now I combine the r/o conditioners I have with HYDROLYZED WHEAT PROTEIN to perform my protein treatment, then do a deep condition. Thanks again for clearing up the difference. I do the same thing whenever I wash my nieces hair it's much easier, faster and comfortable for them and they don't have to spend too much time in the shower. However, if you still feel like you don't need a leave-in, you can get a styler that has water as it's first ingredient so as to seal in your moisture properly.

I recently undid one of my box braids after spraying it, and my real hair was as dry as the sahara desert. I have a suspicion that when we spray our hair, the moisture only stay on the synthetic hair (because it's basically plastic, and water can't penetrate through plastic)
