Upper lockdown in AAAP3 is a bit problematic. I have pretty normal width feet and I had to cinch the laces so much for a good lockdown. People needing wider toebox volume will really like this shoe. In contrast, Takumi Sen 8 fits me a more secure at the same size. I think the next version might go to Strung upper like Prime X strung. They don't need to tweak the midsole again IMHO. Fixing upper will help a lot.
I recently got the Adios Pro 3 and like it a lot. It joins my Endorphin Pro 3, VaporFly 2, and Takumi Sen 8 in the race/speed category and I wasn't so sure about it at first but, after about 20 miles, I've really warmed up to it. It's not as fast as the VF2 and TS8 or as comfortable for all-round running as the EP3, but it's one of those shoes that seems to feel and ride better and better as you put more miles into them. I really like the Lightstrike Pro midsole foam on both this and the TS8. It's not as soft as some other foams but that's what I like about it. It strikes the right balance between softness and firm and feels very responsive. You feel like you get back exactly what you put into it. There's no trampoline kind of thing happening with this but the rods still propel you forward while you giving you good ground feel. It definitely needs some break-in time but, once you get going, it's a very enjoyable to go on a long cruise at a good tempo pace.
Matt is right, its not the fastest shoe compared to the other competitors when doing short intervals on the track. But its an awesome awesome half to full marathon (pretty sure 10k, 15k, 10millers works well too) as in these distances, you are just cruising not going all out.
I like the pro 3 much better than the 2s, 2s pushed my foot laterally and I tend to land laterally, especially in the forefoot. 3 feels like you said centered. I like the aggressive toe spring and rocker cuz I do have tight ankle mechanics and limited ROM in my toes so helps me rolling through much easier…even at slow paces
I am not judging but I have a hard time understanding how one would question the durability of the outsole of the Adios Pro2. I have one pair of Pro 2 with 380km and another one with 121km and the outsole seems to have no wear and there isn't much difference between the two... I agree this is no Prime X (1200km and going... outsole far from being used btw). Btw Prime X works well on non technical trails.... for me 🤣 I'm not a "pure" heel striker", more like a rear-med-striker btw. any opinions and feedback are welcome. :)
I had the same outsole problem, wore the rubber on the lateral forefoot on the adios pro 1 after just 50km. Then I glued another layer of rubber in the forefoot and am still running in them. If you repair the outsole the shoe will last you for a long time.
Where did you get the extra layer of rubber? Took from another shoe? Just wondering cuz I would consider this since I always wear lateral forefoot down
@@JeremyGiese I wear out the lateral heel edge slightly quicker than the rest of the outsole. After a few runs, I apply some "Shoe Goo" (clear or black) which is a sticky, rubber-like adhesive. It's an old skateboarder trick for extending the life of their shoes that get beat up from all the friction. I apply every so often but it takes less than a minute to swab some to the outsole. Just be careful about applying because it sticks to *everything* and can be a pain to clean up.
@@JeremyGiese On Amazon they are selling sheets of rubber, you can buy a sheet and cut it to shape and glue it with a strong shoe glue/cement. Or you can take your shoes to a shoe repair place and ask them to add a layer of rubber on the outsole.
I have both. V3 is more stable, V3 has more aggressive rocker in front (toes curling up while standing still); V2 feels faster somehow.. V2 is easier on the calf muscles but tires out the post tib tendons of mine for being more unstable.. Deffinately V3 is better for marathon.. but it is a bitch to find a good fit.. had to swap the laces for more stretchy ones as for the love of Jesus I could not find a good lock-down without cutting off circulation somewhere in the foot.. once the laces were swapped V3 was great
I have a tendency to toe-off very laterally when running fast; I think it's mainly due to bilaterally stiff/tight plantar fascias? Overall, my feet have pretty stiff mechanics. A stiff forefoot emphasizes this late supination (?) even further. According to the wear pattern on my Alphafly OG and my FuelCell TC, I toe off around the 3rd toe at race and threshold paces. And this is precisely where the Adios Pro 3 completely lacks both midsole and outsole :( About your worn through outsole: get a product called Shoo Goo and apply a layer of it where you want more outsole. Usually good for hundreds of miles more.
Same mechanics and find the toe off of the 3 unstable (like there is a void when i toe off ) . Ive been adjusting , its been doable, but feels unnatural. Though i must say i can keep a faster pace much longer than my other super shoes
You don't have to retire it😢. Some glue or whatever to the sole should do fine. I had the same issues with Pro 2 but that's after about 5 marathons and almost 500 miles. But I'm still running and racing in them even after the runner started to wear
I dont have this version but Ive done the same thing to the heel of my takumi sen 8's. Starting peeling off after the second run. I ended up just cutting it off and running on the LS Pro foam. So far its wearing ok after quite a few races. I didnt have this issue on V2 of the Adios Pro for some reason.
Thanks for the review, I was sold for a marathon shoe until you said not the fastest, did you mean at shorter distances or not the fastest marathon shoe. So I guess my question is, if you were going for a marathon pb would you wear these, if not which? Thanks again for all the great content 👍
Not the fastest meaning if u were to do an all out sprint or short intervals on the track, it does not feel as propulsive as its competitors such as the vaporfly. However, this barely matters in the half up to the full marathon as u are just cruising the whole way, not going all out. Making it an awesome marathon shoe. I believe more major marathons are won by adidas athletes compared to nike athletes too.
I've tired most of the super shoes. I love the pro 3 the best I've tried but I can't wear them as there's not enough support for my ankles i have very small ankles. Such a shame as with more support they would be prefect I find them fast in 5k too.
I don't understand the neutral shoe lateral bias thing. That resulting supination is bad for my knee. That lateral bias would seem to make it a stability shoe but that leaves people needing true neutral empty-handed.
Tha Adidas runner Daniel do Nascimento broke at ~37Km in the 2022 ,NY Marathon but he was running faster then Eliud Kipchoge. So yes, you can run extremely fast (4:40 /mile)with the Adios Pro 3 if you want, if you can.
and when he collapsed at km 34, he must have been way behind Kipchoge's time, I think, given that the eventual winner was only 1 min behind Do Nascimento, and went on to finish in 2:08.x, much more than 1 minute behind Kipchoge's record.
@@emf1775 he beat a few records during that race before having to quit. Fastest 10k ( time?) ,fastest mile (4:17) ,was a bit more then two minutes ahead of the 2nd position runner and he was making a nice time even after staying half a minute or so in the bathroom. Kipchoge is still the best but he has a lot experience and age to back him up. What impressed me about Daniel is that he just hit 24 years of age and I heard he is the fastest runner in the world that is not from or descent from Africa continent. No "superior genetics" came to him from his parents ... just the thirst to be the best.
@@MiracleWarriors For sure he's got great marathons ahead of him. Though I would question that Africans have superior genetics for running. Another thing entirely is that do Nascimento very well may have African forebears. Millions of slaves were taken to Brazil from Africa, apparently.
That tread looks thin. What's the point of an super expensive shoe with thin tread, that wont last long....Oh that's right that's how they screw you over.

Very good review. You put a lot of info into your talk and also convey your emotions toward the shoe very well.

I wore them in Chicago and they worked well. First time racing in Adidas. I'm still half size down in these, same as the other Adidas shoes I have.
