HOW TO: Access the Porsche Boxster 986 engine bay w/rear glass window (Service Mode)

So you just bought a Boxster 986 or 987 and have no idea how to see your engine without getting under the car. Well it's a simple 5min procedure that you can perform even if you don't know the difference between a phillips and flathead screwdriver.

Thanks for the video, I found it because of the glass pane issue. I have a 1999 S but at some point it's had the plastic hood replaced with a glass one. Not sure if that's why it's problematic but this was very useful for me. Thanks!

I have a glass window. I do not have the problem you display. Perhaps you need to move the top further back. You are making this WAY more difficult than you need. There is a web loop on the drivers side to assist with holding the glass in a vertical position.

John Morgan is this for the 986 or 987? I have tried to have my top at different angles and have never found an angle where the glass would tuck

Have to agree I have a 2004 with a glass roof and I can tuck it in behind the roll back then use the strap that Porsche supply to hold it up

@@johnmorgan7262 make a video as I want to upgrade to a glass rear window but this was a deal breaker for me and as far as I can see this guy confirmed it

@@MavUK6666 your top might be the factory upgrade and not the smaller window like the video shows
