- BEFORE anyone says anything about those popping air sounds... lol. There was no way around it for me because of the nature of the filming in this week's video! One day I will get a proper DSLR and a separate microphone, for now I use my iPhone 8 to do the job :) Hope you guys can enjoy it anyhow!

I just CANNOT get over how much I love the way you paint faces. Something about the roundness and softness and dimension is really aesthetically pleasing

I absolutely feel you when you say you need big blocks of time to paint. My family always acts as if it's an excuse not to paint, but it is so NOT!

Thank you for sharing your journey this year :). I agree with other commenters that although, the channel is new, I am finding it very inspirational. Your characters are so relatable and charming and the color choices are inviting and beautiful. As you begin to do more environmental studies and planning in your pieces, would you feel comfortable sharing bits of that process with us ( how you conceptually develop, plan, and progress a piece)? Those are two areas I am also attempting to be mindful of this year. Happy New Year and thank you again for sharing your beautiful work :)
thank you so much for your comment! that's something I really struggle with as well, to really fully plan out a piece w/o any stones unturned, I'm more of an "intuitive" painter than an analytical one. And to be honest, I don't really think TOO in depth about what I'm doing in terns of the concept/meaning, but yes I will try to share as much as I can ^^

Can you do a video on how you study in order to improve you art. For example, when you study the eyes and noses where do you get those references from?
I just study off photos I find on Pinterest :) just pick a face that has a good nose or good eyes to study from XD something that has a strong and clear sense of lighting! but yes I'll prob end up doing a video on it in the future ^^

There's a lot of artist in yt using watercolor and oil but your technique catches my eyes maybe because I'm kinda into technical when it comes to color rendering, I a fan of your works now.

I have the same struggles with flowers. I painted tiger lilies once and that was ok, but I'm scared of flowers with layered petals like roses. I have a lot of respect for people who can paint flowers well.

Hey Chris, really love seeing your sketching process. It's so much different than mine and I know I need to transition into sketching more loosely and then refining it in later pages. Curious to know what pencils you use to sketch? The lines look dark, yet sharp! SERIOUSLY love *love* the rendering and texture to your art. How cute would it be in a children's book or cute greeting cards. :D
thank you! I just use a 0.5 mm lead HB mechanical pencil, and I have to press really hard to get it to go very dark XD which isn't the best.. I've tried using other pencils before but I always come back to the mechanical pencil ^^
