Is This Used BMW S85 Ebay Engine Any Good ???
I love when Nathan drops rod caps then calls himself "fatty". This guy is the S85 master.
Glad your back! Thanks for the great BMW content Nathan
Really enjoy watching these and your no BS honest approach!
If you don’t have $700 you don’t have any fucking business owning a BMW. Facebook Marketplace is the graveyard for broke BMW’s that people bought but people can’t afford to fix. In the last month I’ve walked away from over a dozen cars that are mechanically totaled. People buy them because they’re cheap and then when the car takes a shit it goes back on FB Marketplace. Most of the broke cars on FB Marketplace a worth nothing. And yet I see them for sale for $3500 but bring a trailer because it won’t run. The car is worth 0.
very good replacement mtr. those who want this car -- pony up
I liked this content. Too bad everything is back ordered. I had to wait 2 months for the front air lines on my X5...
There’s so many people who have no business affiliating themselves with a bmw, they think you could neglect these cars or starve them on oil changes, put cheap regular gas and buy castrol oil with Fram filter lol 😂 there’s no short cut with a Bavarian machine, just get a Kia Sorento
What oil should you use cause bmw says to use bmw oil or Castrol or Mobil 1 so I'm confused what you're saying cause that's literally what bmw reccommends
@@kelpking4484 use shell oil from bmw, or use shell ultra helix and for gasoline use only shell vpower, that combination will keep your engine clean.
Really fun to see someone-else.. take these apart and just evaluate the machine. On to the next step.. awesome.
Nate I had one I plastic gauge it and got new bearings just to be safe
Love the video - to the point, no padding, an education.
Nathan, glad it's looking good so far!
What obd scanner do you recommend for Porsche?
I love the BMW/Porsche content, thank you.
Nate you look good 👍🏻
You lost some weight nice going 👍🏻
❤❤top men
I'm over 226,KM runs fine change oil every 3,KM
Can I put engine like that on 928 1991 Porsche????
Great vid ❤️ so I have an 97 e39 with no brake light or left side front and rear turns signals not working besides the light module. Could there be any other problems causing this? thank you
Trunk wiring
I have a used engine that came into my possession without any history, from a 2010 M6. I have been wondering how to check the condition.
3 engines later........... expect the worst!!!
Hi Nathan, I have a 2008 Lci e60 550i, I’m starting to see my valve stem seals go bad. A lot of white smoke on idle over 10 minutes. I would love to let you do them on the channel. And I actually trust your work. Let me know if you’ll be interested. Thank you.
Prob not now we are getting swamped with people wanting me to fix their cars
Nice Video those bearings don’t have copper in them they are newer ones and the guy didn’t charge the oil at 3k that’s y there small scratches on the crank should be fine with newer bearings I change my at 140k and it was fine it’s depends on start up warm up the car helps wear on the rod bearings
And if your vanos pump doesnt go bad
@@bbb4bret I never heard any one complaining about the Vanoss pump but I did see video that had the bolts loos that can cause problems I would change the plastic guides on the chain that’s what I did
Torquing up that variable valve gear is complex.
Why these engines need such expensive maintenance before hitting 100k compared to other brand engines?
It's basically a Formula 1 engine. How many cars have that?
@@janreznak881 yup, how many Lambo’s and Ferrari engines last 100k+ miles. It’s basically a race engine that requires race engine care.
for as much as these things cost they are just unreliable and fragile I will stick to my toyota
Idiotic comment in so many ways.
Unsubscribe! 😂
Those bearings are roached
Nathan do I unsubscribe ? 🤭
No way it shows your human 👍
Nate, is my vanos pump the new pump if mine is 08 build?
I'm seeking professional opinions here;
Cross-hatching on cylinders is deliberately created during the honing process so that oil can be trapped in the scratches and enhance piston and ring life. Agreed? Then if a crank or rod bearing has a scratch or two, but the majority of the wear surface remains true, couldn't the case be made that the scratch could hold oil like the cylinder hone marks and hold lubricating oil in the bearing, enhancing bearing life?
I acknowledge that a full cross-hatch of the bearing surface would reduce the total surface area to the point that excessive lash would be created in short order, but a crank bearing is 40-50mm wide, so a scratch here and there should not diminish the net bearing surface to the point that lash is created.
Please respond. Asking for a friend (hahahaha)
